Facility is old and a bit shabby. But the staff is competent and caring even though there are communication problems sometimes. I had a good rehab experience and recovered enough to go home with no issues.

Astoria Nursing and Rehab Center was really great. I was really impressed. They took great care of my mother. It was clean and it smelled nice. The staff was attentive. They have adequate parking, and it's right off the freeway. The food was really good. They were very receptive. They have activities and she enjoyed those. The physical therapy was great. Everybody was real positive. They play music, and they have other senior activities.

I am currently here for rehab after a hip replacement. I'm a 68 year old person with a Bachelor degree who has worked in the medical field the majority of my life. As l write this, l have had my call light on for 25 minutes waiting for assistance. This is the typical wait for a nurse aide to enter your room to help you. Not acceptable! As a vegetarian, my meals have consisted of "no meat," nothing adequate. Fot my lunch today l received a plate of canned green beans and a small dish of cottage cheese. The day shifts do a fairly good job, especially Maria. But, the night shift acts like they're doing you a favor by helping you. If you care about your family member or friend, please DO NOT send them here. My call light has been on for 35 min now and no one hss come to see what I need.

We went to Astoria and they gave us a tour. It was a weekend, and a young lady helped us. She took us to all the levels that they had, and she explained everything, so to us it was a great place. It would have been the perfect place for my mother-in-law. However, there was no bed and that's the one thing that I've encountered with these skilled nursing facilities. The staff was very friendly. We saw some patients and actually talked to one. You could go, but right away somebody meets you at the door. It wasn't like you could be just walking around. So there was a type of security, which was very nice. I guess they had a section for physical therapy, and we saw other patients through the rooms that were watching TVs. They also had a section where you could roll the resident out where there was a shade outside and stuff. There was a family there, and they had their resident outside in a wheelchair and that was really nice instead of always being in the bedroom. It was very clean; you couldn't even smell heavy urine or anything or the odors of medicine.

My mom has been at Astoria Nursing and Rehabilitation since September. I would highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a place for a family member that is not doing well. The facility is wonderful. It is a beautiful facility. It is very clean. I can't say enough good. Their staff is amazing. They're fully staffed. They cater to all of her needs. I was told that she would never recover, and she did. They have taken excellent care of her. They are all amazing. She complains about the food and says it is horrible, but I have seen what they feed her. it looked fine to me.

My mom did not like the food, she said it was very bland and tasteless. She was able to order off a selective menu, but unfortunately it all tasted the same. The Nursing staff was quick and prompt when they actually came to the room. She had a problem with being put in a room with another patient who had Dementia, that continually screamed and cried throughout the night. It would be good to place people who are there for just rehabilitation and not incoherent, together in the same area. The facility was well taken care of. Although he air conditioner kept going out throughout the facility. This was very uncomfortable for her because she suffers from Multiple Sclerosis, people who suffer from this disease are very affected by heat. The Facility is located right down the street from a high school, which led to some problems with high schoolers harassing some of the patients while they were outside of the facility.
