"My dad is at Emeritus in skilled nursing. It is the best one that I found for him. The place is really updated, very modern, and very clean. The accommodation my dad has is great. It is very good, as if he were at home. The rooms are very clean. There is no weird smell. Everything is great. It is like a hotel, almost. They have friendly and wonderful staff there. It is really good. They do everything for my dad. They have nurse care, physical therapy, and medication assistance. He is on a feeding tube, so they take care of that. They also do laundry, and they also change his diapers. They have everything. They have activities during the day, like bingo and sing-a-longs. They also have musicians whocome in. They have doctors who come in, and they're really good too. However, I think they are understaffed, so the people who are there really work hard because they have a lot of residents. I think they could use more help. "

"I toured Porter Ranch Garden for my father. It was okay but the location seemed kind of run down. They seemed clean, but it was a pretty beaten-up house. They seemed engaging and the person that gave me the tour was very informative. The rooms were okay and pretty basic. They weren't great and the cost was higher than what I said we could afford. She told me four thousand and that was a no. I saw the room and the living space area in the backyard. The living room was okay. In the backyard, there was a patio, and it was kind of rundown. The cost seemed high for the place and needed an upgrade or of keeping things up to date."

"Breath Of Sunshine was just amazing. I had to find a peaceful place for my mother where she would be well taken care of. I was not disappointed. Ruzanna and the staff we’re just like family. The home is exceptionally clean and shiny and always smelled good, especially the home cooking from their staff which was even more of a plus and there’s always food cooking for different needs of the different residents. Breath of Sunshine was quiet and peaceful, but also fun with daily activities or relaxing outside on the patio having lunch or dessert if the weather was nice. The care they give the residents is something you cannot compare to a large facility. Everyone was treated like family and loved. I would visit almost every day and they would always treat me kind and respectfully as this was a difficult time for me, even always offering me coffee, water, juice and pastries or even lunch. They took very good care of my mother. She was always clean, hair washed & combed, clean clothes, clean teeth and she was even smiling being there with them. Her bedroom was kept very clean with sheets being cleaned daily, and the floor is mopped all the time, medications were given in a timely manner as directed. They celebrated holidays, birthdays, and occasions. Resident were encouraged to sit at the dining room table and have meals together if they preferred, which was lovely and always had fresh flowers, it was like being with your family. Each bedroom has a big screen TV but also there is a living room with recliners where the residents could recline, relax and watch TV if they wanted to be with others. Residents were well nourished and hydrated with lots of fruit , water, juice and of course sweet treats. When I couldn’t get there, they would text me and tell me how my mother was doing also taking pictures of her enjoying her day or being peaceful, which gave me peace of mind because I couldn’t be there all the time. During the final weeks of my mother‘s life, they were constantly there checking on her talking to her, making her feel very comfortable and during the final hours a hospice nurse came and stayed in the room with her, I spent the night there during the final hours, and when she passed away very peaceful she was not alone, along with me was the hospice nurse, Ruzanna and the staff. It was the most peaceful time I could want, also for me in those final moments. It was very peaceful. I would give 10 stars if I could , I miss my mother very much, but Breath Of Sunshine I would highly suggest you just go there and meet the staff and look around you will be very impressed."

"Twin Palms was excellent. It was very clean and the staff was good as far as I could see. The owner was very accommodating, very kind, and very knowledgeable. This was one of the top communities on my list. I even have referred it to other people. It's a board and care; they have like five or six people. It's very nice and with a beautiful backyard for a barbecue. Everything looked like it was a nice place to live."

"I visited the assisted living place of Ambassador Garden in Reseda. It's behind the post office, and I drove around for 20 minutes trying to find that place. It's a much larger place than the other ones I visited. The person who gave me the tour was the owner. She's had it for 35 years or maybe more, and she was very personable and funny. I found the place and got in and went to the reception desk, and they said the owner was coming. I had to park on the street, and I had money in the parking meter. That was the thing with that place. The woman at the desk said, I can park out there in the yellow zone. The lady owner came, she thanked me for waiting, and we went into her office, and I looked around a little bit. She showed me a couple of rooms that were kind of under construction. They were in the facility, but they were being refurbished and upgraded, so I didn't get a really good feel for how they would be. They were a little larger than those cracker box rooms that I saw in the other facility, but I wasn't impressed. We went back, and she sat in her office, and she said to tell her about the place that my friend is currently in, so I did. The place my friend was in had a point system for add-on things, like laundry was 10 points, and assisting from the bedroom down to the dining room was like 30 points. So I asked her what the laundry would be in her facility, and she said it's included. I asked about escorting residents to the dining room, and she said that was also included, and we just laughed about that. She was very nice. When I entered the entryway, off to that was a large lounge area, and that's all I saw. Out in the back, I could see people moving around. It looked nice from the street, but it's behind the post office, with lots of traffic, and also lots of trash. I would have paid somebody just to keep the street clean in front of that place because it did not look very inviting."

"I chose Nikkei Senior Gardens for my mom because they catered to the Asian population. I figured my mom would be comfortable there. It was newly built and a very nice place. The building was built like a square so you could actually walk around the whole facility. They had a courtyard that was around the whole building. There was a Japanese garden, patio, chairs and tables with umbrellas. In the front reception area, they had a sitting area with coffee tables; they had all kinds of magazines and newspapers. The residents gathered around and talked. They had large windows so everything was bright, spacious and very open. There were plants and a lot of decorations; there were art and pictures on the walls. The dining area had high-ceilings and open-beam ceilings. They had planned activities and catered to those who were Asian. They brought entertainment occasionally; they had bingo nights, cooking classes, movies, planned trips, walks, exercise classes, arts and crafts. They also took the residents to the doctor upon request. They kept them pretty busy. The residents also had life-alert and the nurse came within two minutes. They both had Asian and Western food. The staff were very friendly, warm and they really catered to the residents. They monitored her medications, gave her a bath, did the laundry and housekeeping. Everytime I went there the place was immaculate. "

"My mother-in-law is here. The rooms are very nice and roomy, and the caring and friendliness of the staff impresses me. They have a restaurant-style dining room. The food is pretty good. They have a lot of activities for seniors to do and have outings. They probably need to improve on their medicine management department and the response time for someone to come to the room when you need them."

"My mother is at The Gardens at Park Balboa, and so far it is very accommodating. They take very good care of her and keep her busy with activities. It is a simply well run, very nice place. The thing that impresses me the most about this place is the amount of staff per patient or per resident. Usually, you will see a place with a minimal amount of staff and too many patients lacking treatment, being lost, and not being taken care of. This place is not that way at all. "

"Valley Vista Senior Living has only been open for about three years now. It's a very nice facility. The caregivers seem to be very good with all of the residents and they take very good care of my husband (who is in the memory care). He's happy with it. The food they give him is very good. They give him snacks and do a lot of activities with him. They play bingo or poker, toss a ball around, color pictures, and do word games. They try to work with their minds to keep them as sharp as possible."
