I visited the assisted living place of Ambassador Garden in Reseda. It's behind the post office, and I drove around for 20 minutes trying to find that place. It's a much larger place than the other ones I visited. The person who gave me the tour was the owner. She's had it for 35 years or maybe more, and she was very personable and funny. I found the place and got in and went to the reception desk, and they said the owner was coming. I had to park on the street, and I had money in the parking meter. That was the thing with that place. The woman at the desk said, I can park out there in the yellow zone. The lady owner came, she thanked me for waiting, and we went into her office, and I looked around a little bit. She showed me a couple of rooms that were kind of under construction. They were in the facility, but they were being refurbished and upgraded, so I didn't get a really good feel for how they would be. They were a little larger than those cracker box rooms that I saw in the other facility, but I wasn't impressed. We went back, and she sat in her office, and she said to tell her about the place that my friend is currently in, so I did. The place my friend was in had a point system for add-on things, like laundry was 10 points, and assisting from the bedroom down to the dining room was like 30 points. So I asked her what the laundry would be in her facility, and she said it's included. I asked about escorting residents to the dining room, and she said that was also included, and we just laughed about that. She was very nice. When I entered the entryway, off to that was a large lounge area, and that's all I saw. Out in the back, I could see people moving around. It looked nice from the street, but it's behind the post office, with lots of traffic, and also lots of trash. I would have paid somebody just to keep the street clean in front of that place because it did not look very inviting.

The rooms are a nice size and nicely decorated. The food is great; healthy offerings and good size portions. The facility is very well run with a strong leadership and committed caring staff. After having seen other assisted living facilities and the one that my family member was in previously makes me extremely confident that she is being well taken care of at Ambassador Gardens!

My sister's friend recommended Ambassador Garden for me. It has a nice layout. The rent is low. There are no bugs here. I already moved here. They are very strict about many things. We have a partial lockdown because of COVID. I would recommend that on certain things they be stricter, but on other things they be less strict, like the residents who don't have COVID be allowed to go out, and the residents who do have COVID have to be isolated in their rooms until they get tested again. The staff work hard and are very dedicated to the home. The only thing I need assistance with is getting my medication. With regards to activities, they offer movies, games, bingo, Yahtzee, Family Feud, and mini-games like that. They also have many activities where the facilitator comes in and facilitates either a dance party or a creative session. Their activities are very interesting and sometimes they have lectures. They have a garden in the backyard. They have nice rooms with bathrooms. They have a library, they have an activity room, and they paint your nails for free. They have a small gym, too, but I've never used it.

Shabby decor. No consistent activities. Food lousy. Staff swipes your things. Always get a receipt when you pay in cash because the front desk will deny that you paid unless you have proof. Rooms are dismissal.

We choose Ambassador Garden for my mom because the price is affordable. It is within her budget. They aren't as strict to her because my mom has a medical report that looks scary to most assisted and independent living facilities, but she's actually very capable and they have time to take care of her. I have trouble with other places because of her medical report. It is not the nicest place, and I want to have her in a nicer place, but she is happy there for the time being. The staff is very prompt. If there is anything that is going on with my mom, they call me right away and they are taking great care of her. My mom complaints about the food, but otherwise, she is happy with the care that she's having from the people that work there. They never have a problem answering the questions I have.

In the two years my mother lived here I noticed many things wrong with this place. The living area was too crowded and staff is short tempered. My mother was also suspicious that the cleaning help, or other residents, were swiping things from her room while she was out. However, they did make sure everyone gets 3 square meals and that everyone has taken their medicine. Besides that I see no upside to this facility.
