I got my mom placed in Savant of Tarzana. They were very reasonably priced at $3500 a month, and she loves it there. She has her own private room, essentially. They call them apartments, but it's just a bedroom with a private bath. Also, the food, the daily activities, and so on all work out very well for her. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The apartment that she is in is very clean. The daily meals are very good; she likes them. They have a full list of activities that she takes part in every day. So, those four things are primarily what she likes the most. They have an on-site beauty shop, so she doesn't have to go anywhere to get her hair done. They have an on-site pharmacy, so all her meds are taken care of right there, where I don't have to get them from a pharmacy and deliver them. They have a nice shuttle service to stores, like when they want to go shopping or pick up things they need. They have a beautiful courtyard in the middle of the facility. The residents can sit outside, but they don't necessarily have to be exposed to the public, to the street, or whatever. The food is very good, and it meets all my mom's needs. I haven't been there every day, but from what I saw and from what mom has told me, the meals are very balanced. They actually meet with the chef once or twice a month, who literally asks, 'How am I doing? How is the food? Are there things you'd like to see added to the menu?' and so on. We're happy with everything.

We liked it the best out of all the places we toured because it had the nicest rooms and all of the amenities that we were looking for. The dining rooms were beautiful and had 24-hour access to food and snacks. They had an activity room, game nights, ice cream socials, movies, and transportation if they wanted to go to movies or shopping malls. There were a lot of positive aspects to it. We toured a number of times with our family members, and everybody agreed that it was the best place.

I like the location. The staff was competent. We didn't look at the activities, because my mother-in-law is not very active. I saw their dining room, and it looked OK. The atmosphere was homey.
