"At the start, Peninsula Point by Cogir was absolutely wonderful! I toured over 12 facilities and researched over 20 possible places for my mom who has dementia. Peninsula had a very welcoming team who were attentive and made my mother feel at home. Since then, some of the team members have left and there have been some changes in staffing. The place was brand new at the time of move in and was very clean. It’s a large community for assisted living as well as having a separate, secured memory care. The memory care is what I’m most familiar with. Peninsula Point has a monthly calendar and tours a lot of various activities, such as Tai Chi. They, especially, have a lot of live music and holiday themed festivities. We participated in a grandparents’ day brunch in the main dining room. There are some activities that do not happen, such as a petting zoo that I came up for, but found out it was cancelled. They have a salon downstairs, an upstairs game area and an outdoor patio that isn’t fully utilized. I try to take my mom outside for some fresh air whenever the weather is nice. They recently got a community van to use for more outings. Since the start, my mother seems less satisfied and complains about the other residents as well as the food. She’s been reverting back to her native tongue so it’s been difficult for her to communicate. I have also, unfortunately found her room to be dirty and stained a few times, which since I’ve brought it up, has improved. Most of the staff are friendly, helpful and seem to truly care about my mother."

"My parents moved into Oakmont of Torrance. I liked it because it was new. I liked everything about it, and they were also offering some very good discounts to move in. It's very good so far. The food is excellent. Their room is outstanding, large, and beautiful. My mother said it's so clean, and it's a wonderful place. My aunt moved in also. They have great employees, and it's next door to a hospital. If I was looking for a place to live for myself, I'm going to move there."

"The rooms are various sizes and configurations, bright and cheerful. Everyone on staff learns personal information about each resident in order to be well acquainted with them making them feel very welcome and comfortable. My husband has been on the memory care floor for two full years at this point and he has always received excellent care and attention. I am treated like family when I am there. The chef and his team are excellent. I have joined my husband for dinner many times and even when I am not able to stay for dinner I do give his dinner a taste test. Everything has always been top notch. I do visit with the others on my husband’s floor and those who are able to, agree that the meals are always good."

"I like where Bay Towers at Bixby Knolls is located. It seemed like a very alive sort of place. I only visited the independent living part. I thought the prices for this area were very reasonable but the flipside on this is it is not new. The staff took me to a room, but it was not brand new, it did not have granite countertops, and it was not stainless steel, but it was clean. It was practical and serviceable. You get what you pay for. It was reasonably priced. I liked downstairs the garden area or common area. I know two people down my street who moved there and they're happy, but don't expect luxury, don't expect granite countertops. It's dated, but it seems like it serves its purpose. They do not care for people who are heavily into dementia there. The staff who assisted was very nice. If you're on a limited budget and can't afford $6000 a month and $2900 sounds better, I think it's the place to go to."
