My mother has moved into Gateway Park Senior Living. She is happy. She really likes it a lot. For me, the only downside to the place is that I had to move literally things into her apartment, and she is on the fourth floor, and it's a lot of walking, but it's good for her. There is an elevator that goes straight up to the fourth floor and is actually right next to her apartment, and I can get in there because they gave me an extra key. When I go there to meet her, I tell her to take me to her apartment, and she takes me the long way. I want her to take me because I want her to know where to go and how to do things, because her memory isn't fantastic. The staff seems to have everything under control. I have plenty of food allergies, so trying their food would not have been possible. However, my mother has said that the food is really good. Before, she was just eating frozen meals and bagged salads, and stuff. They're all pre-prepared meals. She can still do that here. I brought her microwave, and they have room for that (A microwave is one thing they don't provide, but they have a stove and a fridge). It's a very tiny kitchen, but it's definitely way more than enough for her. For the food, she has to walk over to the middle of the building to get to the restaurant. It's restaurant style, and they have a few choices that they can decide on. So, she has been really happy because she was telling me, "I had this today, and it was really good," and I'm glad to hear that because she used to be extremely picky at the other place, and she would be mad, like, "They fed us eggs every day." My mother has been so busy, and she loves their activities. That was a big part of it that made us choose this place because they constantly have something going on. They have a calendar that you can see at the front desk. It's very large, and then they have one that you can take with you to have in your home. She is doing chair yoga, puzzles and Mexican chain dominoes, bingo, and stuff like that. The common areas are very large, which is actually really great because my mother has a dog. They allowed her to bring the dog, and there are a lot of people with dogs, too. So, she can walk her dog safely inside the community without having to go on streets or anything that would be unsafe, so, that's really fantastic. When we toured the room, I was unimpressed. They said the lady had just moved out, maybe a day or two. They said they were going to clean the carpet, and I looked at it, and it was very gross. So, when we came to move in, instead of cleaning the carpet, they had taken the carpet out, and everything was now laminate flooring, which is fantastic. We love that. Putting down laminate is much, much better than cleaning the gross carpet. I think the value for money is pretty good. It's always going to be expensive. I rent out two-bedroom apartments for about $2200 a month, and this one is $3150, and it comes with food and activities. Everything is included except for the phone service. So, the value is really good because it comes with a lot of stuff that you would otherwise have to pay for.

They were doing some remodeling, and so the building was really torn up. It wasn't very good. We had dinner there, which was fine. Their menu and the choices weren't as nice as some of the other facilities. The staff was very nice, but not quite as friendly as some of the other facilities that we visited. From the outside it looked pretty nice, but inside it's a two. The size of the rooms was good, and the layout was good. The atmosphere wasn't as welcoming.

I visited. They gave me a lot of information. They were very nice. I didn't try any of the food, but I did see it and it looked good. The rooms were decent. There was no smell. They were clean. I saw a salon, swimming lessons, an art studio, a place where they held bingo and stuff, and a game room.

I went here. Just getting all the information and them answering our questions, being able to see it. The location was really good because she's lived in Poway for over 60 years. So that was kind of a good fit. And, I guess she has a friend there too, so that kind of added a little extra to it. The room looked good. I didn't see the exact room she would be getting. I saw more of a studio-type thing instead of a one-bedroom, but I think she might be getting a one-bedroom. So, I didn't technically see that. But it seemed like it was sufficient space for her needs.

I'm at here. It is close to my family, it looks nice, and the price includes utilities and DirecTV. It is a little bit pricey, but it is cheaper than regular apartments around here. The move-in experience is fine. The staff members are very nice. They have activities, but I work during the day and the activities are all during the day. They have an exercise room that has some equipment ithat I can be using, but I'm not. I tried the food, and it was high-cholesterol and high-fat stuff for breakfast, so that was the last meal I've had there. I cook for myself. The building is OK. It's a two-story building with a common patio and a garage on the first floor as well. It's nice-looking and clean. They have free laundry. They have a patio where you're invited to plant plants if you want. With regards to the food, I asked if they had an egg white omelet and they said, 'No we just had eggs and cheese,' so we have cholesterol issues. The food doesn't look like it's what you need. I don't eat there and it's also expensive. The layout is fine. The elevators are sometimes slow, but they seem to be better recently.

My mom is here. She is well taken care of. She has a beautiful apartment. She was able to drive for many years, and when she couldn't drive anymore. They had a bus that took her around just about everywhere she wanted to go. She is well-loved. My mom has a nice big one-bedroom-one-bath. She has a living room, a little dinette, and a little kitchenette with stove and refrigerator, and she loves it. The dining room is nice. The food is okay. The meals are okay. There's variety, too. The people working there are excellent. They have a lot of weekly activities. There is a gym and a theater. My mom went to Mass on Sunday. There is a bus to take them to all kinds of activities. They went to the casino, baseball games, and the track.

I had an excellent tour. The facility was very nice. They're going through a remodel of the lobby area and the shared space area. They haven't started that yet, but that would be very nice. The room I saw was an empty one-bedroom and it was very, very nice. All in all, I was quite impressed. The lady that gave the tour was very friendly, nice, and happy. The layout for independent living was on an entire floor of its own. It was a very nice layout. They had a beautiful outdoor area where residents could sit at. There were trees around. I loved the fact that it's outdoors in the suburbs with not a lot of traffic going by, so it's a very pretty area of town. They had a salon/barber, church services, a library, and games. I saw someone conducting bingo in another room so that was nice because they had separate rooms for their get-togethers.

My dad was at The Gateway, which is independent living. He really liked that place, but he couldn't stay there because of his memory. I liked everything about it. It was great. I liked the people. The staff was friendly. The accommodations were very nice and kept up nicely. They had a weight room. They had a lot of like barbecues and fun activities. He was able to walk everywhere to stores and stuff; he really liked that. It's right next to the hospital.
