"My mother went to Pinedale as she knew she was getting to the point where she did not need to be alone. While preparing to go she told me she was not going to participate in any of the activities and would just stay in her suite watching her TV shows. A week after moving into Pinedale she stated she couldn’t believe she waited so long to move in. She loved all of the activities and especially the Activity Director. She loved all of the staff who cared for her in such a loving way. Being at Pinedale was like being on vacation. All of her meals were prepared for her, room service everyday, and she didn’t even have to remember if she had taken her medications as they were brought to her. She loved everything about Pinedale and so did I, as I saw how happy she was there."

"My cousin will be moving into The Meridian at Carolina Lakes. It is very new, very upscale, and very bright. It looks more like a hotel instead of an assisted living facility. It's got a pool 24/7. It is very, very nice, and it's way cheaper. It's close to me, that's why I picked it. The staff was very helpful and very friendly, yet professional. They were very caring. They took their time. They invited us to have lunch to check out the food. The chef came out and introduced herself to us, and we hadn't even signed in yet. The service was exceptional, and it was a very pleasant experience. The food was excellent. The rooms are beautiful, white, bright, and have a little bit of a kitchenette with a microwave. They even have a washing machine in the room and a little refrigerator. They were very nice and very spacious. They have a bathroom and a closet."

"My sister has moved into Brookdale Union Park. They come recommended by friends and family who have had some loved ones there. Their whole process was very pleasant. It's very affordable. Most of the people we've met as far as residents were similar to my sister in the assisted living stage. It works out to be a great place for her. We have only been there for a week now, but everything is very much to our liking. Regarding the staff, I would give them a 5 because of the intelligent communication. They remembered our names and my sister's name when we took her in there, so that was a big help. All in all, everybody was very helpful in answering questions. Everybody commented that the food was very good. My sister also says it is very good. The facilities are very neat and clean. She has been to two different 'Be Fit' classes, so I think she enjoyed those. She is not really active, but she participated in the activities."

"We chose Brookdale Monroe Square for my mother-in-law. Starting today we are going to have some limited visitation. Before that we went to a window in her room and from the outside talked to her. She could call on her phone and she could see us, and we could talk to her that way. The staff is fine so far as I know, all that I've had contact with has been alright. I've only interacted with the administrator 'cause we're not allowed to go inside the facility and talk with workers there. They allowed her daughter and her son to move her stuff in, and her daughter was allowed to go inside the room and show her where everything was at."

"My friend has been at Sunflower Springs at Indian Land. I think it's an amazing community. It has been a godsend. It's in assisted living, but it's more like a family. The people that are living there have issues and things of that nature, and they help them with whatever they need done. It's more of a nursing home, yet it's not. They have their own lives, and they can do whatever they want to do and go wherever they want to go. It's just an amazing place. They go over and above what they have to do. Everyone just works together, and it's just a beautiful community. I've never been around in assisted living before, but this is the top. Even when you walk in the place it's a sunny and happy place. My friend is one who is very particular about her food, and everywhere she goes she says, "I hate the food," but she really likes the food there. It's a brand-new building. They have different activities that go on throughout the week. On Saturdays and Sundays families can come and visit the residents. They also have people that come in and sing. When they need to go to the doctor's office they take them to the doctor or whatever appointments that they have. It really takes the burden off of me because she's in a wheelchair."

"My dad moved to The Blake at Edgewater. It was the one where I felt like it had more of a homey feel. It's very well-kept. They have been very nice and accommodating. It's very close to where I live, so it's a short drive for me to check on him, and it's been a good experience. I don't have any complaints about anything. They're very personable. I have personal cell phone numbers, and I can call and speak to them if I need to. He complains about the food every day, though. He is in a large one-bedroom apartment, and everything is up-to-date as far as the aesthetics of it. The bathroom is nice, large, and handicapped-accessible. He has a large closet. It's not a walk-in closet, but he can fit his wheelchair in it. Then he's got a kitchenette area. So, it's nice. They have great activities. My dad just chooses not to participate, but they take them out on trips, like go shopping or to other places like parks and things like that when the weather is nice. They do a lot of arts and crafts. They have people come in to do music performances. I've seen some kids and other people there singing and playing instruments. So, they seemed to have a good variety of activities. Their medications are just expensive."

"When my sister and I found this place, it was an answer to a prayer. Our mother was there for 3years. She passed away 6months from today. There never was a time that my brothers and sister felt she was not being cared for. During the 1st 6 months during her "adjustment time" , she wanted to go back to her home. In the last 2 1/2 years she again wanted to go home but she was referring to Helms Gordon. She made several good friends while there and her roommate hit it off at the very beginning. Moma wanted to take her whenever we went anywhere, even to her great grandchildren's birthday parties and if she couldn't go Moma brought her cake back. Kay G. is awesome and she takes care of her residents. She is demanding on her staff but at the same time she is fair. I am sure I would love to work there. "My mom has been living at Springhill. Everybody is really nice there and they have a lot of programs like painting, bible studies, and three meals a day. They have a lot of activities. The staff is really knowledgeable about what their duties and job descriptions are. My wife told me that it was incredible how much food they pile on their plates. They get three entrée choices per meal per day. The dining room looked really pretty with chandeliers on the ceiling, and they wait on the people. I was stunned when I went to the place because I couldn't believe it was a senior living home. They have a weekly calendar of activities and there's something going on all the time, but they don't have to go. They have watercolor painting and they play bingo. The price was very reasonable."

"The Legacy of Camden was very clean and well staffed. The room that I saw was very nice and clean. It had a microwave and a refrigerator in a small kitchenette. They all had the amenities I was looking for, like the doctor, medication, trips, and activities. The staff was really welcoming, knowledgeable, and very nice. Everything was explained to me during the tour."

"We were impressed with Joshuas Foundation. The young lady that gave us the tour was pleasant. The assistant director was the one that sat down with us, and she was able to answer our questions and provide us with all the information we needed. She was very helpful. We were impressed with the cleanliness of the place. The location was a nice secluded area. I was particularly very impressed at the fact that it was fenced off to prevent people from wandering. They also had secured exits inside the facility that prevented people from leaving unnoticed."

"Elizabeth Gardens was our dad's home for 10 years until his recent passing. The staff was always pleasant and very caring. Our dad loved "The Gardens" as he would call it. Special thank you to Miss Lou and Miss Sheila for always looking out for our dad. The building was indeed a little older however the unconditional love and daily care was extraordinary. We will forever be grateful to Elizabeth Gardens for making our dad's home a special place."
