"North River Village was a very nice place. I liked the young lady that showed me around. I didn't have any negatives there, but it's a little further away and it's a little more expensive. They have a pond, and they could look out the window and there are ducks on the pond. I paid attention to that because that would be something my husband would have been interested in. They were still doing work on the rooms. I see no issues with the maintenance. A maintenance guy was working the day I was there and that was on a Saturday. The staff showed me the dining area, which was certainly plenty decent. They had rocking chairs on the front porch. The place was very neat and clean. Some of the rooms would have been sort of far away from the main area. The staff who gave the tour was very friendly and very knowledgeable. She was just really a nice person."

"We visited Brookdale, and we preferred it to others. The staff was extremely helpful, accommodating, and they made some suggestions on funding. The grounds were good, and with well-manicured green grass. There were a lot of residents who initiated activities, and that was something new to us."

"My cousin is now at Heritage Residential Care Village. The people are friendly. It is a small place. The area where he lives (the assisted living facility) only has 14 residents. It is fresh and clean when you walk in. The staff loves my cousin. They take very good care of him. If there are any questions that they have, they'll call or text me. Right now, the staff members that are there have been there for a couple of years. They know my cousin very well and are very patient with him. However, there are not a whole lot of activities. Mostly activities are generated by the residents themselves. They play dominoes, cards, puzzles, and bingo. Once or twice a week people come out and sing with them. Every now and then they'll rent the Tuscaloosa trolley, and they'll go around town sightseeing just to get them out. They don't take trips to Wal-Mart or any other stores, but I'm glad that they don't because I don't think my cousin is always very wise with purchases. On Sunday morning they have Sunday school where they have teachers who come in. The food is average. They have a lot of chicken. They have several choices, and everyone eats at the same time. My cousin can eat in his room or he can eat in the small dining area."

"Mom stayed at Crimson Village and that place was awesome. It's nice. It's got a nice cafeteria and nice rooms to do stuff in. Like a movie theater and anything you want. It's a good place. Probably the best assisted living place in Tuscaloosa. The staff was good and friendly. They take them to all their doctor's appointments. They take them to different shopping places. They take them out to eat. They do lots and lots of recreational activities with them. Money-wise, it's the best place. It's a little expensive, but it's not bad, considering what they give. The food is nice. They have some very nice food. The cafeteria is good."

"My husband will be moving into Hamrick Highlands Assisted Living. It's owned by two nurses. I have never heard anything bad about the place. I believe it's probably the least expensive in town. The guy that I dealt with didn't want to talk much on the phone or give me much information, but once we met with him, he was just super nice. The room is more or less a bedroom and a bath. I've not been in his room since I got the furniture, and it was not furnished when we got there. The place is super clean and super neat. I've seen the residents in their cafeteria area during or after their meal and during activity and they looked very happy and content. There were no problems. The dining area is kind of unusual. It's towards the front door, so they can see anybody that comes and goes from their tables. I don't expect my husband to be particularly involved in activities, but hopefully, he'll at least enjoy observing. I didn't question them a whole lot on that because I didn't feel like it was really important to him. The staff who gave me the tour was very nice and very knowledgeable."
