Since Elmwood purchased North Chandler, the place has literally fallen apart. No cable TV for months, dingy dirty corridors, out of date interiors, 95% of staff left, next week no hot meals for renovation, no one answers the phone. Taking my family member out as soon as possible, following multitudes of residents that have also left.

The staff was really outstanding. I actually got to tour with the supervisor of the memory care unit and she was excellent. I've gotten a lot of tours with salespeople/community representatives and they do a good job, but interacting with somebody who is actually there, working with the residents, to me, means a whole lot more. The rooms were spacious and looked good. There's a lot of common areas and they were very well furnished. They were playing games and listening to music. Nobody was sitting in a room doing nothing.

It was kind of a very spread-out campus, much larger than most of the other places. They do both assisted living and independent living. I was focused on the assisted, not so much on the independent living. They had a nice little pool and a little putting green. It had kind of a more park-ish atmosphere than most of the other places. If that's what you're looking for, especially independent living, I think that would be nice, but that's not what I was looking for, so I didn't pay too much attention. It was very nice. The apartment had a little kitchenette space. The staff was super nice and very patient.

I went here and I liked it. The apartment was bigger than the other place I went to, and then there was more room in it. The lady that showed me around was nice and friendly. I just felt more comfortable there. The one I looked at was like a one-bedroom, it had a kitchen and a bedroom and a living room and everything. The dining area looked nice, it looked like a nice area. The surroundings were nice, it was pretty. It seemed like a nice place. She told me there were a lot of activities, a lot of stuff to do. I saw people sitting around.

It was nice. They're very charming, and the location for me was great. It was one straight shot from where I live. Even though it was near the E-way, it was very well designed so that the E-way didn't really affect you. Every apartment had a balcony, which is a big plus living in Arizona, you get the good sunlight and fresh air. The staff was phenomenal. They had a fitness center, a cafeteria or lunch place where you can choose to eat, and a hair salon onsite. There's a Wall of Veterans, which I really love. Everyone was charming and had a great personality. The young lady who helped me tour the property called and checked, and it wasn't bias trying to leave one way or the other, it was more just making sure that my grandmother found what she was looking for. The structure of the place was nice, it had a good homey feel, and they're carpeted throughout. Some older people like that homier feel versus commercial feel.
