Memory Care Reviews for Brookdale North Gilbert

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

The facility recently has gone through a remodel and the rooms are so nice and clean, just like you would have at your home. The staff is especially great caring, sweet, kind and go out of their way to be helpful. When ever you need them they are there for you. They love the residence and take so good care of them, like if they are their family. I have always heard positive interactions from the staff and supervisors. Recently they have a new director who has totally taken control and has improved this facility 100%. They have a calendar every month for all the activities. They go and get the residence from their rooms for the activities such as fit and be fit, bingo, bowling, puzzles, arts and crafts, mind and learning games, parties with music, sing along nights, afternoon movies with popcorn and Sunday Bible study. This is just a few of what they offer. Once a moth they have a family night with dinner, and entertainment for your loved one's and their family. They serve a great dinner and have entertainment for all with no cost to anyone. My mother has been in this facility for four years and she loves every one of them. I can't say enough about how well they have taken care of my mother. I love every one of them and thank them from the bottom of my heart. Vicki

We visited Brookdale North Gilbert, but they were full. They did not have a room, but they seemed very friendly. It needed some upgrading.

I visited Brookdale North Gilbert and met the administrative staff. They gave us a brief walk-through. It looked mediocre. The rooms weren’t spacious, but the residents had their own rooms.

Brookdale North Gilbert was relatively new and small, and more personable than other places. The staff is very friendly and polite. They rooms are very clean, modern, well decorated, and quite sunny and bright, too.

We also visited Emeritus at Gilbert. They were extremely welcoming. They had a specific contact person. She took us to her office and talked to us a little while. Then she took us to the dining room for lunch. The dining room was a little bit dark and it wasn’t quite as cheery as it seemed to be. However, the food was good. It was a moderate amount of serving, it seemed to be a well- balanced meal and healthy. They had exercise and stretching daily. They seemed to have full schedule of really good activities. They go on community outings. They had arts and craft. The grounds were well kept up. It was kind of peaceful especially at the back. My mom had a dog and they showed her where the dog could go play. The other residents were very friendly as compared to the other one we visited.

At Emeritus at Gilbert, the ambience was kind of average. It wasn't terrible and it wasn't great either. The staff there seemed to be pretty friendly. They were fine. My parent would have to be in a shared room in that facility. Their rooms there were fine.

This place is horrible you think your loved ones are being taken care of your wrong. I have seen first hand a director who only cares about cutting corners nurses who yell at our loved ones and call them snobby children. There are barely any activities snacks are always missed and there meal options are limited. I would be fearful of my family coming to this community the head director Linda cuts corners and our loved ones suffer. I rate this place a one and that's pushing it.

I had a tour at Emeritus at Gilbert and the place is very nice. The lady that took me around was very knowledgeable and very helpful. The facility appeared to be very clean and organized. They allow pets which I like because my mother has a small dog. They have a nice ground where they can go out and walk and the dogs can go out too. The place is very open, bright, and the residents seemed relaxed and happy even though most of them are in wheelchairs.

My grandmother is in the Emeritus at Gilbert. The cleanliness of the place is fine, and the staff is very nice. They should make their food more accommodating to special diets, and a little bit healthier, though.

From my experience this home seems very nice. My grandma moved in here about a year ago, and although she was wary of it at first, she seems to have grown to like it quite a bit. She has made many friends there and enjoys socializing and participating in activities with her new friends. She likes the fact that it is not like "living in a hospital" but more like a community of older people. She fits in well and is generally happy. She says the staffs is all very nice, and seem sincere in their care. They ar not just doing a job, but actually care for her wellbeing. This is a very good sign. She likes the meals there and the scheduled activities as well. She says it gives her something to do and look forward to, rather than just sitting at home, occupying herself. Overall, very happy with this home, and would recommend it to others.

The facility looks lovely, requires you to wait for door to be opened, in evening that could take a few minutes sometimes 5 or more. Employees are cheerful and outgoing. Menu choices have been changed to include more starches, but tastes good. Sometimes there should be more protein in standard evening meals-since their budget was cut. Since most residents are memory care, offsite activities are not on the schedule this last year. There is only one walkway they can use in the court yard. When weather permits AND they have 2 members of staff available they sometimes walk to a close HOA park. Ask to look in several residents bathrooms and kitchen areas, look at sinks and toilets for cleanliness. Housekeeping is often over looked-inadequate staff- and sometimes requires resident or family member reminders. Basic maintence requests require follow-ups. Also due to reduction in staff, activities are often preempted or changed. Snacks are not always given per the stated 3 times a day. In past year there have been 3 Executive Directors. Employees and on-site Management are stretched too thin.

My mother lived at Emeritus for over 5 years. I visited at least every week and came at different times - mornings, afternoons, late evenings, etc. I always found the staff friendly and the facility clean. I would give Emeritus a 5 star rating, except my mother would complain occasionally about the food. However, she has always been very picky. There were many meals she did like. They had different chefs so she had favorites. I would recommend Emeritus to a friend.
