"I have a few things to say about this home nursing provider. First off, up to this point, everyone has been very courteous. However, they are very unorganized and because of this disorganization my loved one's medical supply order has been delayed. Once the issue was corrected they got the order set up. His actual home nurse is friendly, caring and truly concerned with getting him healthy and independent again. The after hours nurse is a different story. I called at 7:30 am due to an isssue that I was unsure of being a medical emergency and was yelled at for calling at that hour, and what was she supposed to do about it. I'm sorry, but if you are providing a phone number for after hours services, the person who answers should at the very least be compassionate enough to listen to the scared patient and calm enough to get all the facts before insulting the patient and yelling at them. I will be looking for an outpatient alternative for my needs. "

"Amedisys Home Health Care sent a nurse out and a physical and occupational therapist to see my husband at home. It was enlightening and a very, very good experience. The nurse came in a few times during that time he was here, because he needed such care. She made sure that she had any supplies that were needed. There was no way that she said, "Oh, well I'd like to do this, but I can't because I don't have the supplies to do it." She knew if something else was needed that they made sure that it was overnighted to us, so that we would have it when she came. We were only able to use them for about a week. There was a day for the nurse, another day for the physical therapist, and then another day for the occupational therapist. He saw the physical therapist twice, the occupational therapist once, and I think he saw the nurse three times because she came in extra time when she felt she was needed. She was a practical woman and had a great sense of humor, so it kind of lessened the worry and the solemnity we were feeling. The occupational therapist and the physical therapist were both OK, but I didn't feel that they knew exactly what my husband could and could not do. I think they would have needed a little more time with him. At that point, my husband was just too ill to really respond the way we would have hoped he would. For me, I would still recommend them."
