We are going to keep my husband at home as long as we can. We hired a health home care aide from Lipet Home Care. She is not a nurse but just an aide. We are trying to get palliative care right now, which will have a nurse in it. They have been with us for a year now. They are here much for me as they are for him. They do housekeeping, laundry, and kind of anything I need at that time. They provide help with his needs like if he needs a meal or a walk or anything like that. I take care of the bathing. It’s a companion kind of thing. The caregiver is very friendly, and she works hard. I don't have any problems with her. She is available when I need her. She comes two days a week, and we're looking at increasing that to three, but if I need a special time or something, she'll come and sit with him. Billing goes to the VA, so I don't see it. The experience has been pleasant and efficient, and it works for me. They're not perfect, but they do a good job.
