My mother is at Heartland Hospice. Everything has been great. We've been with them for a couple of weeks now. I sure would recommend them. I'm happy with everything that they've presented.

I'm only giving one star and that is for the one amazing nurse we had. I believe they are understaffed. On the day my mom passed we called to tell them lat morning she wasn't doing good at all, this was 2 hours after someone was to already be there. We kept being told somebody is on their way. My mother passed away just after 5pm and no one showed up until almost 7:30pm.

Nurses were overworked - caseloads too high. Talked over my parent about other patients with regularity. The aide was wonderful and visited as needed. Nursing staff not so available. Family support was terrible. I would not recommend this hospice. However, there are caring staff that work here. Heartland did a 'good enough' job.

The nurses who visited my father were very compassionate and caring. They treated him with dignity. I wish that I would have known the stages of the last days of one who has COPD before they happened. I had received a wonderful little booklet written by a nurse who accurately described all of the last stages.

I have dealt with Heartland on many levels, as co-providers in care of patients and as a family member receiving supportive services for a loved one. Everyone was so caring and compassionate.
