I have had my caregiver for quite some time, and it helps me.
I like that if I object to someone they send, they will send me someone else.

They handle chores for my father and go grocery shopping.
They are aware of the issues I’ve had; but they lack quality employees.

We are probably the most affordable in the region for a fully licensed, insured and
bonded agency, letting you enjoy affordable care and peace of mind. We keep
our expenses low by not running expensive advertisement campaigns and this
allows us to save you money.

Our contracts are simple with no long term commitments and we will even let you
try us for a week with no strings attached.

Our caregivers go through an extensive health and background checks and are

language requirements.

We require our caregivers to be COVID free and perform testing as warranted.

Three agency owners, John, Jim and Niran met at a previous work place and
formed the agency based on their own difficulties experienced while looking for

I’m using HomeCare.com. It’s fine. They’re very good and very responsive to any concerns I have, and they’ve provided me with a good health care aide, not great necessarily, but good. They also provide light housekeeping, they help me clean myself up, and they take me to my appointment. They get here within a certain time window between 7 and 7:30, and that’s when I need them here. A lot of times my communication is directly with the aides. If she can’t come on a certain day, the agency would contact me to see whether I need some assistance or need somebody to fill me in on a given day. I think I’m paying more than I probably should because they have a mandatory number of days that I can contract for, and that’s probably more than I usually need. To maintain the contract, I have to keep them on a certain number of days.

Other than some initial difficulties getting the schedule worked out the service has been absolutely fantastic. The Girswold office staff did an amazing job getting care for my mother-in-law lined up on what was very short notice. The care givers have been excellent as well and having them has enabled us to allow my mother-in-law to recover from major surgery in her own home instead of going to a rehab facility. Considering the current uncertainties centered around the Covid-19 pandemic, allowing an elderly patient to recover at home is a substantial advantage to both the family and the patient.

I hired Home Instead to help my elderly aunt, who is like a second mother to me. She lives in Virginia, and I live in Texas. So I could not be with her while she recovered from hip surgery. Every step of my experience with Home Instead was easy, and the staff have been professional, responsive and caring. Within a couple of days after I called, Home Instead met with my aunt (and me over the phone) to determine her needs. We mutually determined she needed a caregiver in her house M-F for several weeks until she finished her recovery and felt confident in taking over all household tasks. After that meeting, Home Instead had a professional caregiver at her house in 2 business days. The caregiver was lovely – patient, friendly and professional.
Making the decision to hire someone to come into your home (or a loved one’s home) is not easy. Home Instead makes the entire process manageable and pleasant.

Financial Assistance for Home Care in Fairfax County, VA
Given the high cost of in-home care, many people use one or more forms of financial assistance to cover the expenses. Below, we explain some of the most common sources of financial help for paying for in-home care. If none of these options are available to you, you can reach out to your Area Agency on Aging or Aging and Disability Resource Center to learn about local resources.
- Long-Term Care Insurance: Long-term care insurance covers expenses related to senior care, including in-home care. Depending on the policy type, beneficiaries may receive a cash payment to use towards long-term care or reimbursement for qualifying long-term care expenses. Note that there are limitations- typically a maximum benefit of $150 per day- and exact coverage terms vary depending on the exact policy, so always check the details.
- Medicare: Medicare does not cover in-home care because it is classified as custodial, or non-medical, care. However, some Medicare Advantage and Medicare Supplement plans, which offer expanded benefits, may cover in-home custodial care.
- Medicaid: Medicaid coverage of in-home care varies between different states because it is not a federally mandated benefit. Currently, all states cover some in-home care either through their standard Medicaid or a waiver program. The specific coverage rules are set individually by each state.
- Veterans’ Benefits: The Aid and Attendance benefit is a monthly cash payment that beneficiaries can use to pay for senior care, including in-home care services. To qualify for A&A, Veterans must already receive the VA pension and meet several additional requirements, including needing assistance with the activities of daily living. Contact the Department of Veterans Affairs to learn more.
- Reverse Mortgages: Home Equity Conversion Mortgages (HECMs) are federally insured loans that are available to homeowners age 62 and over. Reverse mortgages allow you to access a portion of your home’s equity in cash, tax free. Many seniors use reverse mortgages to finance their care expenses, including in-home care. Note that although there are no monthly payments due on reverse mortgage loans, borrowers do have to repay the loan once the last surviving homeowner passes away, moves, or sells the home.

Determining Your Loved One’s Need for In-Home Care
Aging can be a difficult process, and loved ones may not always ask for help – oftentimes it’s up to their family to evaluate their need for help around the house. While no two situations are exactly alike, this checklist can help you and your loved ones determine when it’s time to start the search for a home care provider.
Guidelines for Talking About In-Home Care
