The Advocate Hospice Team is the GOLD standard.... they helped us keep my father at home through his final days and were always there to help us help him... that is how it should be. Many may want others to handle the challenges of end of life care, but we wanted to be there and just needed the support of the Hospice Team, we got it!! Thank you!!!

Do NOT use Advocate Hospice! It was absolutely a HORRIFIC experience from beginning to end. We were NOT given the supplies we needed (he was sent home from the hospital on a Thursday with one adult diaper (even though he was bed ridden) and we did NOT receive any additional ones until Saturday), we NEVER met or even heard from our social worker (nor were we even given a list of who our “team” was supposed to be), our assigned hospice nurse did not communicate with us until day 5 of us bringing my father home (my father died on day 5), we were given NO written information on how to use the numerous amount of drugs we were given (though we were assured most people never even had to open the drug package, we LITERALLY had to use all but one of those drugs), my father’s pain management was a joke, a fill-in nurse that showed up was rude and combative to my father, and either could not or would not answer our questions, and another nurse who showed up literally was waiting for over an hour to have one of their own Advocate Hospice physicians call her back to answer a question she had on how to manage my father’s pain. The lack of support provided by Advocate Hospice was unconscionable.

I used this hospice for my mom, only because the oncologist called them because we were at advocate hospital. The main nurse, Cindy, was great but everything else was poor. No one else shoed when we need it. She was in pain and we needed guidance and no one came on the weekend. The chaplin would call and tell me he was coming and never come. We called for nurses and equipment over the weekend and it would never come. I had to spend so much time on the phone yelling at them for not providing us the care we needed. I feel they are just taking medicare money and not providing the care they are promising. Don't use them!!!!

They promise to be supportive and caring throughout the whole process. Nobody showed up or called us the week before my Dad passed & he was only in hospice for 2weeks. Very uncaring as if my Dads life didn't matter. I feel like i let him down by choosing Advocate Hospice. We were traumatized because we didnt know if we were giving him enough of morphine or if he was suffering. Even after he passed this ghost team never called us. I never seen such a disrespect for a human life & for the family members such as this company. I will make sure that every Doctor, friend, neighbor or even stranger that need to recommend or use a Hospice team not to go with Advocate Hospice.

The family really had to do everything. They come and talk to you and give you a medicine kit that only a trained professional can use. The Team that serviced us was inadequate and scattered. Would never recommend them for Hospice care. Not sure if this is the right office, but we retained the service through I think Christ Hospital.

I used this provider recently and have nothing but good things to say about them. They brought or sent all of the supplies we needed and the staff was wonderful. Our nurse was warm, caring, and sympathetic. Not only did she take good care of my Mom but also of me, the caregiver. The aides all came on time and treated my Mom with care. All staff was very friendly and helpful to us. I would highly recommend them.

My mom used Advocate Hospice before she passed away. They were wonderful. I don't know if we would have made it through such a hard time without them. The social workers and the nurses came out to help my mom twice a week because she was at home for a while. They had all the home/house services. They brought in a hospital bed, a wheelchair, a walker, and any other supplies that she needed, since she became incontinent. They brought the diapers, the wipes, and every kind of personal item that she needed. The social worker helped deal with where we were going to move her when it was close to her passing. The chaplain called multiple times, and there's also a grief counselor who worked with my eldest daughter. We had good communication with the administration. They had a central number; when I needed the nurse to come out I just called them. They called back within ten minutes, and she would be here within the hour.

Entire family felt like compassion was used as sales technique only while loved one was in their hospital. We all found it very distressing that compassion declined terribly and mistakes increased unbelievably as soon as loved one was moved elsewhere. Even after we fired them they continued to lack compassion and continued to demonstrate unprofessionalism! Would never recommend them. Would give a zero rating if your system allowed.
