When I signed up everything sounded great! I was told that there are plenty of caregivers to cover any shifts that are needed and that there are several additional reserve caregivers who will fill in any time that someone is needed . That isn't true. They had numerous times that they didn't have anyone up to the last minute and then finally found someone. The one person who said he would be here every shift on weekdays except one did not keep the schedule and so without any notice a new person would show up who then needed me to show him or her what to do and how to do it. Twice there was no one to cover the shift at all and I am unable to transfer my husband safely by myself. There were several truly incompetent people that were sent over, one of whom I think was already in the early stages of dementia. She could not understand simple instructions and follow them. All of the caregivers were very sweet and caring but only 3 or possibly 4 had any clue as to what they were supposed to do. Only 3 ever asked what else they could do to help and only 2 actually saw what was needed and didn't need direction. After the first few days it was hard to even get Cort to return my calls. He was basically unresponsive to my concerns when we did talk.

My husband has advanced Alzheimer's. As the only caregiver, I desperately needed some time to myself. I called Senior Helpers and they provided a wonderful caregiver to give me time to run errands, have lunch with a friend and get a massage. I came home refreshed and able to cope better with hs=is needs. The caregiver is amazingly patient with him. This has enabled me to keep him at home longer.

I hired Senior Helpers for my mom earlier this year after a hospital stay. My mom is quite a stickler when it comes to people coming in her home, but we have two caregivers that she loves. Their staff really goes the extra mile to make sure my mom receives the best care. I can't thank them enough!

When my dad was discharged from the hospital to rehab, he was too weak to signal the desk when he had personal needs. Our Senior Helpers made sure that he was not only eating and clean at all times, but I know he got more out of his rehab by having his "new best friend" with him at all times. I had so much peace of mind know that his comfort and care was the most important priority for someone who was with him at all times. My visits were so much more enjoyable since his needs had been met.
