The Homes for Independent Living assisted facility was recommended by a friend in the region as an option for our aunt. The backyard features many places for seniors to enjoy around the grounds safely. There were also park-like spaces with nicely trimmed trees and manicured lawns. This nice community had a home-style atmosphere. We could see that the residents were well cared for. They could accommodate all levels of ambulation. The design of the interior was orderly and easy to navigate. All communal rooms had nice views with a soothing décor and lots of fresh light and air. The many activities included socializing, crafting, playing card and other games, watching TV and participating in many stimulating other activities. Dining rooms had ample space and a comfortable decor. The residents eat healthy, home-style cooked meals in a casual restaurant setting. There are many options available on the varied menus. The foods we saw looked and smelled delicious, and healthy. The menus featured many interesting dishes. The snacks were also healthy and are offered throughout the day and whenever residents desired them. The private living spaces were decorated tastefully and had a light. airy and homey feel. Units all had very nice views. Bathrooms included safety seats and rails. The exercise center included instructed yoga and aerobics exercise classes. The equipment was well maintained. Residents can also safely navigate the lovely garden pathways and courtyards for exercise, as weather permits. The calendar of events featured many stimulating activities like nature walks and the opportunity to enjoy all that Appleton and the entire surrounding region offers. The seniors all appeared to be well cared for and seemed very content with the aid of kind and caring staff.
