I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

Avamere Olympic Rehabilitation of Sequim is absolutely wonderful. They are doing a tremendous job with my father-in-law. They've been phenomenal helping him and taking care of his needs and making sure his medications and his blood sugar levels are doing good. He's in a shared room right now with another person. They keep the facility very nice and clean. They've got an individual bathroom, a sink, a hospital bed, a closet, a dresser, and a window and TV for each of the person. They've got a really nice dining room, a big rehabilitation room with equipment, a courtyard, beautiful garden and landscaping, several community rooms, and activities throughout the day. They have long-term care residents there as well. They do an excellent job on the food and they have a big cafeteria. The staff is very caring and well trained.

My mom stayed at Avamere was fine. It was cleaner than what I expected based on my past experiences. The people that worked with mom knew quite a bit more than I expected them to know. The only drawback was you had to wait your turn, like if she asked for something, it might take 10 minutes to get it instead of immediately. But it wasn’t too bad. The staff was knowledgeable and they knew what they were doing.

Avamere is a fine place. I have my husband in there. It's a clean place. They take good care of my husband there 24/7.They have all kinds of activities inside. like ball games, bingo, dances and many others. The staff are very nice as they have been for 4 years. I go there every week.

Avamere is a clean facility. It's homey as far as like a hospital. It does have a hospital environment but the outlaying edges are kind of homier. It's kind of a long corridor kind of place but it has lots of plants and places to stop and sit and you can see the outside. One side of the facility is for rehabilitation and the other side is for Alzheimer's. The facility is very good to my mother. She is very well taken care of there. They call me even when she scratches herself. She's doing very well there. Whenever I'm there, the staff is very kind. Mostly they're aides that help my mom get in and out of bed. They also help her with her toileting and those kinds of things. They seem to be attentive. Whenever I've gone there, my mother has been clean. She is also out with other people. They also have one registered nurse who takes care of Mom's medical needs. For accommodation, my mother is sharing a room with another woman. Basically they provide a bed and maybe a side table. There is really nothing else that is provided for them.

My mom was a past resident of Avamere Olympic Rehabilitation of Sequim. It was a nice place and the decorations were lovely. The people were friendly. It just didn't work for her because they weren't as careful as they should be on some things.

Provider Response

That is so great to hear, thanks for letting us know!

My Mom was in the Olympic Medical Center for a stroke and was released to home with visiting nurses assigned to come to monitor her condition afterward. The nurses came three times a week to monitor her blood pressure and her medications to control her blood pressure. My Mom was having a hard time getting her pressure under control and the getting the right balance of medications that would work for her. Her personal physician and nurses were in contact to adjust medications as needed to find the right balance for her. My Mom said she was very happy and impressed with the nurses that came to visit and that they worked hard to help her get back to normal. She also mentioned that they were there for her and gave her a phone number to contact them should she need any additional help outside her normal visits. In the end they ended up dividing her medication to one med in the AM and the other in the PM instead of taking all the meds in the morning, this did the trick and she seems to have her blood pressure under better control now.

Provider Response

Wow, sounds like the nurses went above and beyond. We are thrilled you received such exemplary care and attention.

I visited this facility

The facility was old. The walls and rooms were drab. The carpet smelled like a nursing home. They were in the process of a remodel, but they weren't taking out the carpet. That meant the smells would stay. The staff were very friendly. They were warm and interactive with the residents.

The staff treats the residents as if they are family members. Residents' needs are attended to promptly, courteously, and professionally. My father never wants or needs for anything. The staff does not focus only on specific job duties, but offer him comfort, and concern. They interact with him on a personal level. The facility is clean, organized, and comfortable. Day trips to special locations, and shopping trips are offered in which the staff supervise and support the residents. Many of the trips involve sites such as the Game Farm, which can be enjoyed while remaining in the vehicle. The location is easily accessible. Family members transporting a resident are aided by the physical layout of the facility. At times, the meals are not as appealing as they might be. However, residents are offered choices at each meal based on their preferences, if possible given dietary restrictions. For those who are able, meals are taken in the dining room, and residents are given plenty of time to socialize. The Activities Director offers many varied activities. Options are available for all residents, regardless of the level of physical ability. The numerous activities are available in a wide ranging number of interests {e.g. crafts, bingo, music}. Personal grooming, such as manicures, is also offered.Overall, my father loves the residence, and I am able to feel confident that he is well taken care of.
