I have toured the facility and I like it because they have a long-term staff so people have been there for years. They have systems in place that are tailored to individual resident's needs. The director also knows each resident by name, as far as I can tell, and the residents themselves are happy and engaged. They have exercise and personal trainers, their food is delivered to them, and they're also given personal care. For activities, they have a library and a salon, and they have trips."

"Brookdale Federal Way was a wonderful facility. I thought it was excellent. My wife immediately took to all the people there. They were nice to her. The people that were of her age were very nice to her when we went into the facility. She wanted to stay, and she didn't want to go. I was very impressed. They showed me a room and it was very nice. The rooms were nice. They had a refrigerator and a microwave. And I think we could bring in a TV if we wanted something. But the rooms were fine. They were plenty big enough. They weren't really small at all. They were excellent. They had programs for them wherein you're not just stuck in your room all the time. The staff who took me around was good. She was very intelligent and very understanding. As for the food, it looked like they had a good choice from the menu they showed me. It was clean and I smelled nothing. "

"I toured Fountain Court Senior Living. It's nice that I have my house. I have my privacy. If I choose to go have meals, I can do that. If I want to cook, I have a full kitchen. It's like a little house rather than an apartment. So it's more private, more secluded. We have three meals a day. We just walk a short way over to the building for our entertainment, exercise, meals, etc. They have many more activities. Something going on like four days a week for shopping to many different places out to lunch day, scenic day. They go to zoos and things like that. I have not eaten there, so I don't know how their food is, but I understand the cook has been there for five years, and everybody seems happy with the cooking. I've only talked to one person there, and that is like the person who showed us the house and told us about it and gave us a tour. It's very nice, it's very clean and well laid out. There's a lot of trees. There's a lot of strawberries. The people were nice. They were friendly. They spoke to me and said hi. They smiled as I walked by. I thought it was very good as well."

"We've chosen Bonaventure of Maple Valley because they had immediate availability of a two-bedroom unit in assisted living, and other places had a waiting list. Another reason is the explanation of services provided. They use a level plan instead of a menu plan where you have to choose. They explained the services that you'd be getting for a certain price. The staff was very nice. I've chosen the two-bedroom, two-bath with real good views. There are so many amenities. I liked that they have a simulated golf thing where you hit into a golf bat and it tells you how far you hit it and all that, then the transportation that they had and the ease of being able to get into that transportation. It's pretty new, so everything looked nice. We live in a 55 and over community, and several residents that used to live here have moved to Bonaventure, so that's kind of a good thing."

"I toured Brookdale Foundation House. I liked the fact that they included meals and transportation in the service. My concern is there isn't enough space. I'm trying to downsize from a house to a one- or two-bedroom apartment, and it's not enough space for me. The rooms seem to be very nice. They were roomy and didn't have a whole lot of stuff. They're great. They have little kitchenettes off of the rooms. I didn't see a lot of the staff. I can see them at a distance. They seemed to be interacting well with the clients, seeing what they wanted to eat in the dining room, and things like that. So they seem to be very helpful. The dining room was a pleasant room for people to interact and socialize. The community is near shopping areas. It looks like it's pretty well laid out. What I didn't like was that the available rooms were so far from the dining area. I'd probably end up using my electric wheelchair to get from point A to point B depending on where I got a room in there. But as far as the layout, it's convenient, and it's close to shopping and other amenities. I also looked at the menu and the choices looked like they were good choices with variety."

"I really liked El Dorado West. It's a very lovely facility. It was very warm and welcoming. They have a large dining room where people sit and be by themselves, or they can sit with somebody else. There were a ton of activities. I liked the fact that they come in and change the linens on a weekly basis, and my sister doesn't have to purchase food or prepare food. The staff members weren't communicating very well with each other because I gave them the deposit and I called them to get the deposit back and I asked them if I could get the medical records that the doctor's office had sent them and the staff said, "Yes, I'll make sure you get those." When I went to pick them up, they had been shredded, so they were not having good communication. I was not very happy. We had lunch there, and it was very good. They had a lot of different facilities. They had a game room and a large theater type thing with a very comfortable theater chair, so they can watch movies or watch ball games. They also have a hairdresser onsite for those who want to have that."

While you can remain in your apartment, it’s quite pleasant going down, sharing stories , and having a bite to eat. On most days, I take both exercise classes, moderate and high level. My other favorite activity is artistic creations where I discovered I can paint.."
