This facility has come a long way! I visited recently and the physical environment looks great and I could tell they were making some positive changes. Hopefully they continue to move in the right direction!

Mom was at Greenbrier Regional Medical Center for rehab. She didn't like the food at all. She didn't like the communication. It was kind of off. It was not there. The staff was limited. The call light would stay on for hours. They were short-staffed and no one knew when mom was being discharged. So, the communication was off, but we liked the fact that the people were caring and nice. The facility was pretty old and antiquated, but other than that, they did their best.

My mother-in-law is in Carrington. The care is OK, the people who care for her are nice, and her needs are taken care of. It was always clean, and she was fed, so the major things that were important were taken care of. The bathroom facilities were also kept up.

We visited Carrington Place of Chesapeake. They really didn’t have enough staff, and the place was smaller compared to the other place we visited. The physical therapy area was small, so they needed a larger occupational therapy area. The activities looked nice.

If you love your loved one, as I am sure you do, do NOT under ANY circumstances allow them to stay here for ANY reason. My mother was a resident for less than 2 months last year recovering from a broken hip. She had a plethora of medical issues that were all listed in her chart. I saw roaches in her room and in the halls NIGHTLY. The "food" they served was an absolute joke. They did not keep up with my mother's doctor appointments or transportation to and from said appointments. My mother hadn't been feeling well for a few days. I had witnessed her saying something to the nurse myself. Come to find out, Mom's concerns were ignored. When she called for assistance one day last May, it took the nurse IN EXCESS of 45 minutes to walk all of the 20 ft to her room from Nurse's station. By the time she got there, my mother had passed. While cleaning up before I got there, they managed to LOSE HER TEETH (which were never found). Time discrepancies between paramedic, nursing staff, doctor and coroner as to what time she actually passed as well as conflicting "facts" (from the SAME nurse each time) as to what exactly happened WHEN my mom passed. Please, LOVE your loved ones enough NOT to send them here.

This place should be closed for good.....family there for rehab from a stroke....FIRST day he was there, I had to call 911 to get him to ER...told staff he was having symptoms of stroke as he'd had prior....there was no urgency whatsoever in assessing, they didn't call 911 and didn't want me to either....said the doctor there needed to assess him first! I indeed called 911 and got him to ER where he was indeed having another stroke...I believe if I'd left him there, he would have been dead by nightfall.....this place is a joke...do NOT leave someone you love at this place...floor in my loved one's room had a big circle of dried blood and dirt by bedside stand! Praying this doesn't happen to someone else.

This place was horrible. Some staff members were helpful others were lazy and non caring. My brother was in to get rehab from a stroke and they allowed him to fall at least 3 times, which he suffered a massive heart attack with in 17 days of being there and died.

Right now, my mother is in Carrington Place. Her experience is good. The staff is also good. Her room is definitely clean, but it is not spacious. It is small and cramped. The nursing care is good. They have a lot of extras, but the nursing care that she is gets is just exactly what she needs. I have no complaint on that. I can say that many times when you go into a nursing home there is a strong smell of urine, but not this place.

Would like to comment about the horrible care my mother received while in rehab at this facility. The staff was unattentive and neglectful. I would never recommend this place to anyone.
