"My husband is a resident of Morning Star Memory Care of Fredericksburg LLC. The people are caring. It's a very homey atmosphere. The food is very good. The facility is old and it needs updating. It's all memory care and there's only a maximum of 15 residents. They have activities for family too, almost once a month they have a big dinner for everybody. They have the TV going and everybody kind of sits in one big room. They could do something a little more than what they do, the person that used to be there was great, and now they have somebody that -- I haven't seen any activity. They have good, caring, and loving caretakers."

"I toured Arbor House Fredericksburg. It reminded me of kind of like a Vermont farmhouse. It's a beautiful sight. The only negative is it's on a major north-south road, but you can't hear anything when you're inside the building. I only mentioned that because that's about the only thing I could think of that was a minus. It was spread out. All of the rooms are very nice, and the community rooms where you could hang out were spacious and very friendly. The person who gave the tour was wonderful and very, very friendly. She answered all my questions and was very knowledgeable. The kitchen looked very nice. The dining room area where they were getting ready to serve the meal, looked very nice."

"The administration have provided a more structured and finer establishment with a new manager. Sometimes, places need to get rid of the poor work ethics and bring in quality personnel. The environment is very clean, the residents are happy and the rooms are comfortable to live and have staff perform their duties. I will be placing my loved one here in the care of Waterside Nursing & rehabilitation."

"Juniper Village at Guadalupe Riverfront was clean. My cousin stayed there. There was plenty of staff and the staff was very attentive. The food was very good. The activities were wonderful. My cousin doesn't qualify for assisted living right now because of her condition but if she were to get better and reach that point, I would have no doubt and no hesitation in taking her back there. They had lots of activities."

"I'm trying to get my mother-in-law into Riverside Health & Rehabilitation. The place was beautiful. The rooms were nice. The staff was very knowledgeable and very nice. She showed us all the rooms and everything. She was very good. They have a hair salon and a gym. They have beautiful rooms with big flat TVs in them."

"I was in ALPINE TERRACE for rehab. The staff was fine. Because of the virus, we were all kind of locked down in our rooms. Normally they have an active community, but because of the COVID-19, even when you weren't in isolation, you were isolated. They did food prep that at the very worst was good. The food, for an institution, was good. The staff was real good, they had good therapists, good patient aides, and good nurses. But like everywhere else, on weekends staffing worsens. I think that's universal, almost everywhere in nursing homes. It goes from nine to twelve people during the day, Monday to Friday, down to one or two on the weekends. It's brutal. They're trying hard to meet the needs of the patients, and it's hard, the buzzers never stop. It's an older structure, it needs a lot of maintenance, and you have a maintenance crew working. Every day they're doing something, somewhere. It's kind of an X layout, it's got like four wings, and one nursing station in the middle that services all four wings. Normally they're a very active community, trips and such, but the COVID-19 took that away. They're very active, and they tie an activity back into therapy, unbeknownst to the people there. They do a lot of fun games, but actually it's for balance and strength, but the people playing the games don't know. They help without being intrusive."

The facility looks and smells good, the outside is clean, staff is friendly and welcoming. New administrator is friendly and shows hospitality to all visitors. "I really like Trinity Mission. The staff was great, they gave me a chair, and they had an activity director; they were just actually exceptional and interactive with the patients. They showed me the assisted living section. They gave me a whole tour, and the director was very informative. The dining is upfront; to me, it was more like a home. A little more homier, it wasn’t funky, but it wasn’t like it couldn’t mess things up. The nurse’s station was right in the area where all the patients were. I thought that was there, so that they can keep an eye on the patients. They had lamps on the doors. Everybody was interacting with everybody else. The rooms were smaller but nice. Security and safety was good. "

"The staff in Knopp is awesome and wonderful. It's a very clean place without an odor. There are several times that if I call my dad and he doesn't answer, I can call up there and they'll tell me that he's in either the dining hall or visiting with one of the other residents. If there is any kind of incident, they would call me to let me know what's going on. They play bingo, card games, dominoes, exercise classes, and have people come in to play music. He's in a single room and shares a bathroom with another gentleman, and they shower down the hall. My dad likes it there and loves the food."
