My experience with Holiday Creekside at Shallowford has been very good. Everybody here is very, very friendly. I enjoyed it. Even the people that live here, not just the staff, have been very friendly to me. They showed me around and helped me out in getting to know the place a little better and that sort of thing. Everything's very pleasant here. I have a beautiful apartment. Other than the three meals a day, they have housekeeping. Once a week they come in and if I use their sheets and their towels, they do the laundry for those while I do my own personal laundry. They have a lot of activities going on and sightseeing. They go around and see different places like going to the stores. They also take you to your doctor's appointments. The dining area is very, very nice. It's all set up with placemats, napkins, and utensils. The food has been OK. It's not bad, but it could be better. They stopped serving a week ago because of the Coronavirus and so they were delivering food to the rooms, which is OK.

My parents have moved to Holiday Creekside at Shallowford. It's a very nice place and the staff is amazing. My parents are still trying to adjust but they love their apartment, it's got everything they need, and it's very nice. It's about 650 square feet, one bedroom, a living room, and a bathroom, it comes with a washer and dryer, and the kitchen is fully equipped. They're offered three meals a day plus snacks 24/7. The food is one thing they're trying to adjust to, so it's a hit or miss. They're having a sock hop so my mom was practicing for that and that made us happy. They also have Bible studies, they have a salon, a pharmacy, they have a movie theater, a room where they can play pool, and a game room where they can do puzzles. The grounds are gorgeous, they look beautiful and clean. It's just a very nice place.

I toured Holiday Creekside at Shallowford. When you step in, there's a dining room right immediately off to the left, and it seems kind of compact to me. The layout was pretty, but it seemed a little tight and small to me. The apartments were small and very compact, too. The person who assisted me was very helpful and very willing to answer questions. They had a pamphlet. He took me on the tour himself. I didn't get to experience their food, but I got to see a sample of their menu. In comparison to the other place, there were very limited choices. I didn't see a whole lot of people, too. They mentioned that they have a card room where residents can play cards. There are two places that have big jigsaw puzzles where people can come by and work on them. The place is also very clean.

Everybody at Holiday Creekside at Shallowford was so nice and friendly. Even the residents themselves could not have been any nicer. The building was nice on the outside, but the rooms were just not where I would want to put my cousin. The layout looked nice, but they were damp, musty. That's no fault of theirs. It's just the building itself, but they had a lot of social activities such as arts and crafts, and a lot of things that you could do. They also have physical therapy and a nurse that comes in.

Provider Response

Ann, thank you for considering Holiday Creekside at Shallowford and we appreciate your feedback. We enjoyed meeting you and wish you and your cousin the best in finding your new home.

We like Holiday Creekside at Shallowford. My dad's been satisfied with where he is. The staff is great. I couldn't ask for anyone better. The rooms on the first level have patios while the rooms on second level have balconies (the one with a balcony is what we chose for dad). It is a one-bedroom apartment with a kitchenette. They have all kinds of games such as pool tables and chess. At least once a week, they have a concert, and also outdoor activities where they take them on their little bus to go to different places like the museum, the aquarium or just to tour around the city. They have movie night where once a week they serve popcorn and then play a movie on a movie screen as well. They have more amenities than you could want. Initially, the food was great though. They had lots of options, but the menu is a little off right now and is not as good as it was the first week.

We toured Creekside at Shallowford in person. Everything was just fabulous. All the people were super nice and super helpful. The lady that we just spoke to (Erica) and sat down with was extremely helpful. Overall, it was a good experience, and the rooms were pleasantly pretty good size, so we were quite pleased with them. We didn't do a total inspection. We kind of walked through, looked at square footage, and what my mother-in-law would need to bring with her. As for activities, she loves the library. She loves overlooking the garden. She's just ready for the next chapter in her life. She also likes it because it was a quiet place. It was quiet, and it wasn't all chaotic. The dining area looked fabulous. We even got shown a little private dining area, where families can make reservations and have dinners with 10 to 12 people. You can have a dinner in their little private dinner area. I was super impressed.

We toured Creekside at Shallowford and I just love it. I'm trying to get in there as hard as I can. I've just applied to the Vets for help. I've been there a couple of times on a tour, and I've had two dinners there, separate times, and I love the food. The food is restaurant-style, cooked on premises, and served restaurant-like to the table. I love that they have a menu. It's not just one thing or two things to choose from. I love the decorations and I love the nice portraits on the wall. It is a place that I could just spend the rest of my life. The views from the windows are nice. They have nice balconies outside and outside your door on each floor. They have services there and the help that I would need. I have arthritis bad in my hands and legs and they have helped with the help that I need in the mornings to get ready for the day, and at night to bed. They just have everything I need. The beauty, the food, everything is nice. We spoke with all the staff, the kitchen, and the maintenance. The residents there came up to us and it was wonderful. It was a very nice welcome for sure. There were two people, a man and a young lady that took us through, me and my two daughters. They love it, and I love it, too, and they love it that I love it, too. My daughters are vegetarians, and they serve them well. I love the one bedroom and the layout was just really fantastic and convenient. The shower is great, and they have someone that can come in the morning and help me with that. I really wanted this particular apartment.

The staff at Creekside at Shallowford was absolutely wonderful, very willing to show you and to answer questions for you. The place was very nice. I would recommend it to anyone. The rooms were very nice and very well kept. We looked at the one and the two-bedroom apartments. They had exercise, board games, sit and talk areas, and a nice place outside in the summer to talk and to be outside with people. It was very nice.

I loved the tour at Creekside at Shallowford. It was everything I thought it would be, but probably not as much as we need. It was clean, it was very well organized when I walked in, it had a great first impression. The lady that walked around me was extremely kind and knowledgeable. The apartments were nice, roomy, and bright. The dining area looked clean, and the tables were all set perfectly. The menu was out for the day. The menu was great. I have nothing negative to say about that place at all. It looked very nice, very well kept. The apartment, the one that I looked at was freshly painted, no holes in the walls as far as nail holes, and no stains on the carpet. It was very nice.

I toured Creekside at Shallowford, and I really liked the main amenities, the dining hall, and the activities they had. The rooms were pretty small though, and they have not been updated in a little while. The lighting was kind of depressing to me. The pricing was quite a bit too much for what it was, but the person I met was super nice and seemed very caring.

Provider Response

Hi Cortney, thank you so much for stopping by. We regret that we are not the perfect fit for you but aim to offer an amazing experience by providing 3 delicious and nutritious meals a day, light weekly housekeeping, and a variety of engaging activities. I liked a couple things at Creekside at Shallowford. I liked the buildings themselves. They had three buildings, and everything looked clean and well ordered outside. When I went to the main office building, they were playing shuffleboard; everything looked fine. I met with the gentleman that was in charge of giving me an interview and showing me around. It was a three story building that I was in. I can't remember the other two buildings, if there were two or three stories. They were separated, and everything was clean and OK. I think they had a pool. I saw a studio apartment and that was like three hundred square feet that was clean. You had two rooms plus a small bathroom, a small insert where the stove was, the microwave, and refrigerator. It was clean, nice, carpeted, and looked good. He took me to a one-bedroom which was a little bigger. They had a little room for a kitchenette or something like that, a little bedroom, and a closet that was about 10 foot long or 8 foot long. The kitchenette had just a counter with the refrigerator, the stove, and microwave. It was clean and nice. It looked very well. There was no furniture or anything in there. The staff was smiling, greeted me, and was very nice. A couple of women were going through the apartments cleaning, and they were very nice and greeted me and the gentleman I was with. The dining room was big.

Creekside at Shallowford is a nice community. It's a nice setting. It's a little bit off of the highway, it has three floors, they have a nice dining area, and the meals have been pretty good. She gets at least one good meal a day for sure, and she's doing all right. There's no problem. The only thing that kind of surprised me was if she needed any kind of assistance, that would be an additional charge. So if someone gives her medications, there would be an additional charge. If on a certain day for some reason she wasn't feeling well, there would be a charge to deliver food to her room. Lunch is usually the best meal and breakfast, I understand, is fairly good. The evening meal is like a sandwich, some kind of wrap, or something along those lines. There wasn't room for her bed, so we had to buy her another bed, because she had a queen-size. She has a little patio outside. It's very small, but it's enough for her to have maybe two chairs out there so she can sit outside. She will enjoy that, I think, when the weather cools. There's no problem with it. She has a small refrigerator and cabinet space. They have a fishing trip planned for people who want to go fishing. They have a trip planned to a store a lot of the older folks would like to go visit. They're going to have a watermelon cutting. I think they have people coming in to sing different types of things. The other day when I went down, they had pets and dogs. People could gather around in their little sitting area, and they could pet the animals. They have a walkway outside where you can go in and walk around. They have a lot of chairs in the front and the back where they can sit outside. They have a library. They have a pool table, and they have something called "horse racing;" I'm not sure what that is. They have a beauty shop where the ladies can get their hair cut, or the men, and they have a chapel where they have a couple of services throughout the week.

My Mom moved into the independent living community at Creekside at Shallowford, and it was good. The community is clean and very open. I like that they spend time going over things, and it is a good experience. The room is nice, but it is small. When she moved in, there were bugs, but they've treated that now, so now it seemed to be pretty clean. When she got in there, it was a little dirty, but overall, it wasn't that bad. It was a nice room.

I visited Creekside at Shallowford. The people were very nice. I had concerns with it because not everyone was wearing a mask. There were a lot of people in the dining room area which was a concern because any time you get a lot of people together is a concern right now. The building was older, and it had a temperature setting for the heat, but the air was like a wall unit type thing that you had to turn on, so it was not central heating there. The kitchen itself was very, very small. The refrigerator was only 5-foot high, and it was very small. It was more like a nursing home type thing, and it was not fancy. You would not walk in there and think "Oh, this is beautiful!" It was older, but it was clean and nice.

Creekside at Shallowford was fine. My mother was impressed by it. It's basically set up like a little community. They had a cosmetology area, a library, a game area, and things of that nature that they can stay active with, with other community members. We had lunch there, and it was very good.

I did a tour with Creekside at Shallowford. It was in person. It was good. The staff was friendly and courteous and informative. What I liked most about this community was the staff; I appreciated them. The apartments are what I would consider to be standard living apartments. I'd say they are adequate. The facility was clean. It's a little bit older compared to some, but it looks like they've done well at keeping it clean and up-to-date as possible. I didn't talk to them much about their amenities, but they seemed up to par. I liked the location, it's close to a number of towns, and also kind of in a wooded area, so it was good.

Our experience with Creekside at Shallowford was very good. I was very impressed with the place. The independent living and assisted living facilities are all there together. They do not take care of the residents, my relative has voice concern many times they have bugs, for weeks now nothing being done, they are in the cabinets everywhere. The food there is terrible, most things half cooked. When they ask for things like butter, jelly, they don’t have it. I wouldn’t feed the food to my worse enemy. The sink leaked causing the cabinet to get wet. It needs to be replaced. No one cleans apts, yet it supposed to be included in the rent. I’ve called and left messages with the home office. 3 weeks now no returned call. I would think long and hard before I let my relative live there. The asst mgr always gets smart with my relative, when they were bringing the mail around he threw it at them. Question is, is that the way you would want your relatives treated? I can see now why this place has such a bad rating. If I could give them 0 stars I would.

Provider Response

Hello, we regret to hear of your experience and are confident this does not represent our community as a whole. When the pest issue was reported, our team promptly alerted the pest control provider to ensure that the situation was handled to the best of their ability to prevent pests. Due to COVID-19 protocols, our housekeeping did shift to an every other week cadence to ensure the safety of our residents, however, services did not halt. The local team has an open door policy, and is happy to speak with anyone who has concerns, big or small. If you would like to discuss your concerns further, please do not hesitate to reach out. Thank you

Creekside at Shallowford has a great atmosphere. My mother seems to like the food, and the staff is very caring. She uses a walker and a wheelchair. Someone there who passed away had a powered scooter, and they gave it to my mom. I would recommend it. Her room is pretty small, but it meets her needs, and the finishing is good. It's independent living, but they get three meals a day, and there are social activities. They have games, social events, a hair salon, laundry rooms on each floor, and a van that takes them places. A life call device called GreatCall is included. It's a very nice facility and it has a lot of light; it doesn't feel closed in like a lot of other places. It has a skylight in the center. It's very open, and it doesn't feel like a retirement home. It feels more like a resort. It's definitely more expensive than a typical apartment, but you're getting the other amenities. It's a lot less cost-wise than some of the other assisted living places.

Creekside at Shallowford was a very nice facility. I had an excellent visit. I had lunch there and the food was excellent. The rooms are very large and they have a lot of activities. The staff was excellent and really went out of their way. It's a relatively new facility. It's located near facilities like the mall, a lot of doctors, and the hospital is only about five minutes away. The facility itself was very large and clean. It has any activity you could think of. It's also very reasonably priced for what you get. The room I looked at had a separate living room, a little kitchenette unit, and a separate bedroom. It wasn't just one big room, it was like a regular apartment. One room on the ground floor allows animals, which is great for seniors who don't want to give up their cat or dog. They have everything you could want.

My 92 year old sister moved to Creekside during the summer, from another retirement home where we were not pleased with several things. We have all been very pleased with Creekside. Both residents and staff are very friendly. I visit my sister once a week and usually eat with her and I think the food is good. It is served like a nice restaurant with a choice of beverages, salads, two entrees, and choice of a couple of desserts. This is their noon time meal. They offer many activities but sadly, my sister doesn't feel like doing many things. If a person went there younger, or in better health, the many activities would really be nice, especially those away from their building to things in the community.

My mother is in Creekside at Shallowford. We chose it because she can afford it, and it is a great place. Everybody is happy to be there. The staff is great. The people that live there love the staff, and that means a lot. I find the rooms great and totally livable. They are well maintained. As a matter of fact, right before she moves in, they come in and paint the entire apartment and place new flooring. She is in an efficiency apartment. They have bigger rooms over there, but really that's all you need. They have 3 meals a day and activities. They play cards and games and have little parties and stuff for whatever reason. They have a bus, and they take them places. They take them out to eat or to the mall, and they even take them to doctor's appointments on certain days. They are all included in one price, so you really cannot beat it. I really like that when you walk in, everything is really clean, and they have this huge dining room that looks like a nice restaurant. It is not shabby, and it didn't look like an old folks' home. I will not mind living there. It is nice and bright. They have an outside area with little benches and stuff where the residents can sit outside and enjoy the fresh air. They have flowers planted, and everything is landscaped. The furniture is nice and in style. They have all these sitting arrangements inside for guests. It is a great place.

We visited Creekside at Shallowford recently. We were very impressed with the facility itself. We were shown apartments that could suit our needs. We enjoyed a wonderful meal with two very interesting table-partners. The food was excellently prepared, with choices galore. It was delicious, freshly prepared, and healthy eating as well. We were very impressed with every staff member we encountered. The Management Team (Mr & Mrs) were extremely generous with their time and showed us the apartments that are all exceptionally well-kept, and carefully laid-out for the convenience of the resident(s). We were very impressed with the managing couple. It is obvious that they pay close attention to details, as well as being excellent representatives for this facility. We have a really strong desire to make Creekside our future home, if it is at all possible!

The selling feature for me is because they're like a holiday retirement and they have places all over the US that if I want to travel and go anywhere, I can stay at one of the residences without paying a fee. They told me I could come back anytime I wanted and have lunch or breakfast and I did that a lot. I've met quite a few of the residents and they're all happy. Some of them have moved out and stayed away for a month or two and they moved back. They have a lot of activities and field trips going on and if you want to go some place, they will take you within a 10-mile radius.
