As a family member of a Cypress Member and watching my father transition from independent living to skilled (dementia) care, The Cypress is the gift that keeps on giving to me and my brother. There is no way, I could have provided the care, organization and compassion that was bestowed on my father. Even better, his lifelong Cypress friends were there to support us and him. It's a must see and a great experience.

No communication with family when an issue occurs. Staff at Preston is "busy, and can't deal with a families question". The service is poor at best. I would never suggest this place to anyone that cares about their family member.

A beautiful, active community for those still able to care for themselves. As another reviewer mentioned, it is similar to a country club in social interaction. The caregivers and staff are also excellent. As my father has progressed out of the ability to care for himself, my opinion has dropped significantly. It is not a true continuing care facility as there is no assisted living accommodations except for adding in-home caregivers at the Cypress restrictive schedules, or move into the Preston Health Center, nothing more than a depressing nursing home. During the hurricane evacuations the past two years, although well organized for those still able to move and socialize on their own, those more fragile were given less than excellent attention. The requirement is for 24 hour care once in the temporary location, smothering my father's independence and emotional well-being. They were the last to be moved on the 6 hour journey, in ambulance type vehicles with no bathrooms or comfortable, stable seating. Unless your loved one has family in the community, when the enter the later years of their life, I do not recommend this as a viable solution,

We visited the Cypress of Hilton Head. I thought that the rooms were very nice. They had a lot of activities for the residents. The staff was really good and the food was excellent. Their facilities include a library and a computer area, the place was very well-done.

The Cypress of Hilton Head was excellent. The amenities were outstanding. The staff was friendly and accommodating. The dining area looked very nice. We only saw one apartment, and it was quite nice. They had athletic facilities, a swimming pool, three whole golf courses, and bike-riding paths.

Before you put your loved ones here please make sure they know someone or are moving there with spouse. Our mother moved there and it was a horrific experience. If your not in the social circle forget it. Everyone there is in their own click of friends. My mother ate dinner all alone every night for 3 yrs there. No one was friendly,,,,it was just horrible,,,,,they do nothing there to help the single people be paired with others for dinner,,,,,,my mother ended up not wanting to go to dinner because it was so embarrassing for her to always be alone. It is like a private club,,,,if your relative is single dont go near it.

The staff was friendly at Cypress Hilton Head. The food was good. I toured the area where the dining room, the library, and the computer room was, and that seemed sufficient. It was nice, and there was plenty of parking. It was in a nice area. They had mostly outdoor parking. They also had 2-bedrooms separate from the main facility for couples. I like where it's located. I liked what I saw. I was pleased.

The Cypress was very similar to the other facility we went to. They just have more and wider variety of living accommodations from full-sized homes going down to apartments. However, they were also expensive. Outside the fitness center they have there, I don't know more about their activities.

When we toured around Cypress of Hilton Head, I did see that they have complete facilities. They have different types of homes like sanctuary apartment called villas and regular apartments. The villas are unbelievable. The rooms were very nice, they have a beautiful dining room, and a library. They also have a medical facility. They do different kinds of activities to keep their residents active every day. The staff were very friendly and everyone is fantastic.
