I visited this facility

We went to look at Manchester Commons. The rooms were very nice. The staff was very nice. The facility was nice, open, and friendly. They had a lot of things to do. The dining room was pretty. It seemed like a very laid-back, comfortable place. The only thing we didn't like was that they didn't have a lot of outside activities due to what they called COVID restrictions. The staff was warm, friendly, very kind, and open. They had the best room there. They had a little alcove for the bed, and we really liked that. It's more roomy. The atmosphere felt welcoming. They had a big, open dining room. It was like a restaurant.

I visited this facility

On May 26, 2023 my Daughter who is a CRNA, Health Professional and myself a retired State Drug Enforcement Agent met with Megan J, an Addmissions Coordinator at Manchester Commons. We were inquiring about memory care for my wife. We first noticed the clean and fresh atmosphere of the facility. Megan was thorough in her presentation to us, very personal and pleasant. We were shown the resident rooms, activity and dining areas. We were very impressed with everyone and everything at the facility. Our work background told us this was an excellant facility to care for our wife/ mother. I can not express enough how pleasant our feelings were upon reviewing everything at this facility. Thank You

I visited this facility

Manchester Commons was very nice. The assisted living units were fairly large for being just a regular studio. It's a large room, very clean, very nice, and bright. They have a beauty salon, a courtyard, and they have activities. They were playing bingo in the dining room. They actually have little curio cabinets outside of each room within them for the memory care. The facility originally was an elementary school, but if you walk, there's no sign of the elementary school, and they built on in every direction. So, it was very nice and very pretty. The grounds are pretty and welcoming. When we were touring the building, all of the staff said hi to us, and the some of them even introduced themselves. It was very pleasant. Everything was taken care of so well that it looks brand new.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mom moved in at Manchester Commons about a couple of weeks now. They are very welcoming. It's a beautiful facility, very clean and well-kept, and all the people seem very nice and helpful. Her room is beautiful. It's like a studio apartment-type room. I know they have a calendar of activities. They do crafts and music. I sat with my mother while she ate her lunch and it looked good to me. The dining hall is an open area. The whole memory care unit is an open area except for the rooms. The dining area and activity area are all open areas. I'm not familiar with all the prices everywhere, but it seems to be a decent value.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My grandma went to the Manchester Commons rehab facility after being discharged from the hospital for pneumonia. She was at Manchester Commons for three days. Two days later she died. She was fine when she went to Manchester. In the three days she was at Manchester Commons there were two incidents. She fell down trying to get to the bathroom because they would not give her her walker (until she was assessed by the PT who wasn’t in until Monday). On the third morning they rushed her to the hospital because her oxygen levels dropped overnight (did anyone check on her?)

I visited this facility

Manchester Commons of Erie looked clean and neat, and the residents looked well cared for. I liked the plan for the care of my mother. I also liked the fact that their aides are CNAs, which was a big selling point for me. They had non-denominational religious services weekly and a wide variety of activities for their residents, from bingo to music groups that come in. They had several common areas and a great secure outdoor space. They have a weekly menu, so I could help Mom choose meals in advance. They always offer two entrees and a sandwich choice. They are flexible with the residents' eating schedules.
