I can't say enough good things about Whispering Winds. The apartments are beautiful. The entire facility is immaculate (that is really important to me). The food is outstanding. The dining room is elegant. The staff in every part of the building seems to enjoy working here. They are unfailingly polite, smiling and helpful. There are activities to interest just about everybody. The fitness classes are one of the most important things to me. I was excited to learn that a personal trainer is available to me just because I live here. Well - that's enough, but as I said in the beginning, I can't say enough good things.

My mom will be moving into Whispering Winds in January. It was very lovely and very welcoming. There were a lot of common areas. There's a barber shop and a beauty shop. There's a gift shop. The dining room is large and looks like its restaurant quality. It's open at least 12 hours a day, and many of the other places we toured had only limited set hours. I worked with two different people. The marketing director was out ill, and so there were two other people that I worked with, both of whom were lovely. One gave the tour and the other I met with to sign the rental agreement. And then I've also spoken with the marketing director over the phone when she came back from being sick just to arrange for my mom to be able to spend some time getting to know the facility a little bit better. All of those people were just terrific. They have a movie theater, they have a crafts room, they have a room where they play cards or other games. They often have musicians come in and perform. They have a breakfast bar in the morning with fruits and yogurts. At noon, they have a fresh salad bar. And this is in addition to a full menu, quite an extensive menu, larger than I've seen at any of the other places we visited. It outshone the others that I saw. And in talking to people around town, the comment that has come back to me is, "Oh, I know someone who lives there. They're very happy." The facility was very clean with very wide halls. I also liked that there was a gym and someone would design a customized program, whether it was exercise or whether it's balance. One-on-one would be available as a trainer.

I stopped by Whispering Winds in Bend. I didn't even have an appointment, I just stopped by thinking maybe I could talk to somebody there. I was lucky enough to be able to and she had time to show me just one room that they were working in. It wasn't a planned thing, but I thought the atmosphere was just great. I liked it very much. They have more amenities as far as the apartments are concerned. They had a stool counter, a good size refrigerator, and a microwave there. It was just arranged a little more conveniently, I thought. It was not a scheduled tour, I just happened to catch her. She was quite busy, but nice enough to show me the place. I had been there one other time as a visitor, so I knew of the place. That's how I happened to stop by there. Then again, we have the price problem, although they're fairly similar to others as far as price is concerned. I have been there, but I did not eat there. I saw some outdoor spaces at the entry, but I didn't see around back where I know they have garden spaces for people. They do have parking spaces for tenants and, I think, garages if you want to rent one. The lady I talked to, she really gave an awful lot of pointers and information in those packets. I loved the facility, I just thought it was lovely. I liked the look and the feel of it. It just looked like people were happy living there.

I visited Whispering Winds quite often. It is a nice three-story building with a lot of programs. The food is tremendous. They have one large room with a small theater where people perform and sing, and they bring bands in. They have all sorts of games and entertainment. The staff is very nice. They have them all over the place running and checking up on things. They have a huge dining area with separate tables for six. They have pianos, which is nice. They're good. It is very enjoyable. Whispering Winds try to get music in there almost every week with somebody playing, which is good. They have a nice van to transport you to stores and wherever you want to go. The food is extremely good. The building is beautiful. They have two elevators for the second floor. They have a nice facility in the backyard for summertime. Whispering Winds is where I would like to go, but I could not afford it.

We were not impressed with Whispering Wind at all. The outside was lovely, but the building was very depressing-looking and outdated, with low ceilings and it gave me a feeling of wanting to turn around and walk out. The lady who greeted us and her helper who took us on a tour were dressed as if they were doing some gardening, so we were not impressed. Continuing on down into the quarters, it was really depressing, and there were no apartments for us to go in, but a lovely couple let the tour guide take us into their very good-sized 1-bedroom. The place even had a higher price.

The rooms in Whispering Winds were a little bigger; they're at the point of remodeling, so a new tenant gets to pick colors, lights, and countertops. Their kitchen was bigger, the food looked a little bit more formal, and it was a little bit more expensive.

Whispering Winds would be a definite option for mom. It's a very nice and clean facility. It's basically an apartment for each of the residents, but there was 24-hour emergency care if she needed it. The staff are very helpful. They just offered a lot of things for retired people and we liked that. They do have a car service if the residents would need it. We had lunch there and the food was awesome.
