I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

Helen who works with the residents has refused to do her job or help residents who can’t walk or get up by themselves. She has a mean and rude attitude and a very cruel way of communicating.

My mother was at Amherst Meadows. They cared more than the place where she is currently, and the quality of their people might have been a little bit better. What I didn't like about it was they didn't care if my mom did anything or not. They didn't push her to do anything and I wish they would have. She was under skilled nursing there. The food was a little better than average. They had bingo. They did a lot there, activity-wise. They had porches for them to go out and sit, and a cafeteria. There were places nearby where you could get groceries and nearby restaurants.

For anyone that is leaving a loved one here in the rehab area be warned. Unless they can do for themselves, don't expect any passion or help from the team. Attitude is an understatement. Non caring work environment. Not enough help but according to facility administration they only need 2 nurses and 2 aides to take care of 20 patients. For any place that has patient care that is not a good ratio I don't care what the state says. Again, if you can do on your own, you might be ok. But if not, your loved one will be left alone and might sit in their own waste products for hours before anything happens. Just absolutely sad....... Maybe we should have them be the patient and see how they react when we take care of them in the same fashion. I bet that would change some attitudes!

This property is nothing more than a place to warehouse Seniors until they die - this is no place to enjoy life. The common areas outside are disgusting - mold covered sidewalks, dumpsters overflowing, filthy laundry rooms. Even the management office has trash piled on the side of the building. The property management grabs for every dollar they can get and the property manager bullies Seniors when they complain. Most of the residents have either some form of dementia or mental illness. The entire complex is surrounded by a chain link fence topped with barbed wire and only one way in or out past the management office. My Aunt lived here for 7 months until she couldn't take it anymore and broke the lease. STAY AWAY!!!!

I visited this facility

Amherst Meadows had very small rooms. In long-term care, you had to share a room, and the size of the room is very small for a small for two people. I've noticed that overall, the facility was very dirty. The social worker that showed me around the facility was very nice and pleasant. There's nothing exceptional about her. The building itself and the way it was designed, just the part I saw, it wasn't fantastic, but it wasn't bad.

Keep my mom for the 2 week quarantine to charge her insurance then put her out..Had to pick her up and carry her put her in my car..Kept a lot of her personal property..Literally had to take her blanket(had her name on it) off a couch in the dinning area..Dr.Kerry doesn't have time to care for the patients (it's her side job)..Removed her from her low sodium diet without consulting her Dr.s (inconvenient for them, she lost 14 lbs in the 2 weeks she was there

My sister-in-law is at Amherst Meadows, and it's been a very positive experience with them. The place is very clean and well taken care of. The nurses are always available on short notice to help if the residents need help. Her room has a small living room, a small bedroom, a bathroom with a walk-in shower, a small refrigerator, a cupboard space, some storage, a closet-like area to hang your clothes up, and you can put some storage in there too. In the bathroom, there's also some storage where you can put your towels and things, and another closet in the bedroom. They have bingo, exercises in the wheelchair targeting their arms, social evenings, and game nights. They have a courtyard and then they have where somebody comes in and does their nails, and hair, and fixes it up for them.

This place should be shut down, my father-in-law was yelled at my a nurse and is now back in the hospital. Nurses too busy to care for him. People answering phone too busy to do their jobs, because they have other patients.

My grandmother was in Amherst Meadows. It was fine. We weren't allowed in and we weren't able to see the amenities inside, but we were allowed to talk to her through the window. It was more hospital-like because it was a rehabilitation and skilled nursing place. The staff seemed very nice, and they were welcoming our questions. They did a good job of communicating when my dad and my aunt had questions. I don't have anything negative to say about them. I think my grandmother was comfortable. Her place was already furnished, so she was using their stuff, and I think it was good.

I visited this facility

The staff at Amherst Meadows was very nice, but we did have some setbacks, and I would not recommend it for anybody else. We had a bad experience. My friend wanted to go in for rehab and she was alert and oriented. They did a body check and she did not appreciate that although it's something that had to be done. They treated her like she was not alert and oriented. The rooms for the rehab were very nice, but she did not get a room for the rehab, and when they placed her in a different room, it still had the patient's clothes in it from the one who was deceased in there. I don't think it's a bad nursing home though. I do not know about the food, but the dining facility was clean, and the appearance of the facility was clean. There were activities geared towards some clients that were more mentally declined. For the higher functioning ones, I'm not quite sure if it's all that great as far as stimulation, but they had a lot of things going on for the lower functioning clients. The nursing staff was very polite and very professional. They really bent over backwards to make sure she was comfortable.
