Nursing Home Communities in Metter, GA

"I would first like to start by saying that I am very grateful for the facility that my grandmother is able to stay in. The facility itself does try to improve on it's cleanliness, and upkeep. At times during my visit I have gotten the impression that some of the workers feel a bit unappreciated and by feeling that way it shows in there service to the patients. Some workers treat my grandmother as if she were apart of their family, but there have been others that don't do anything at all for her unless I am up there. The administration and other staff members have come to know my family, so they always try there best to make sure my grandmother has everything she needs. I just wish it weren't that way though, because in the end what happens to the residents that don't have family available to visit them often...do they just get pushed aside? "

"The staff is excellent, caring, professional, compassionate, and kind. The apartments are very clean. There are two persons to a room, and they share a bathroom, but it is very clean. It's an older facility, but the presentation is warm and comfortable. It's a country, comfortable, dorm, friendly type environment. My brother went there at 100 pounds; now he weighs 118 pounds. He is from the North, so he is very particular about food. They had done remarkably well with what food they had to give him. They do awesome. The food is excellent for him. They could use more funding. I think they are not recognized as to what a good nursing home they are. They're doing remarkably well with what they have. It's a smaller nursing home, and I don't think they have a staff turnover or a patient turnover. "

"Very disappointed in this facility for our elderly mother as her 2nd step in rehab following an operation to repair her broken hip. The place needs a systematic plan for renovation as a room becomes vacant. The room issues include poor layout for the patient’s mental, emotional, and physical support. No surfaces are available to display items special to the patient. The built in storage areas are beyond view of the bed or area of a wheel chair and so worn and outdated that they are difficult to use (drawers are wood on wood and challenging for anyone to open and close and certainly not designed for a rehab patient to use). Also, the closet is positioned so that when the closet door is opened it can be hit by the room door that opens into it. This is an accident waiting to happen and needs to be addressed. Sparce furnishings and normal room equipment (such as guest chair or 2, bed controls the patient can reach, and foot rests for wheel chair) also were disappointingly missing and a deterrent to the patient’s positive outlook and progress toward positivity and independence. Additionally, because the grout in the bathroom is very old, it unfortunately is retaining years of urine spatter that has slowly penetrated into the grout, leaving a smell that is almost impossible to remove even when the bathroom appears clean. Although some staff were positive and helpful, too often staff were busy on cell phones that were obviously personal calls or focused on paperwork rather than patient care. It was also difficult to leave the facility through the front door since staff often were not passing by. This necessitated going to the other end of the hall to wait for someone to come to the nurses’ desk to let a guest out through the smoking porch. Obviously, not an ideal way for a guest to exit. Overall, it was a bad rehab experience that didn’t end well."

"Brown's Health & Rehab Center was a horrible place. It was what the hospice group here in Statesboro recommended to us because my father needed skilled nursing care. I was considering putting both of my parents there so they could be together, but I'm so glad I didn't put my mom there. The rooms were beaten up. The walls had scars on them. It was clean, but it was rundown."

"Interactions with staff have been great, always helpful, kind, informed and caring. My brother particularly benefitted by excellent physical therapy at Pruitt. This facility is my brother's go-to place for skilled nursing and care. "
