I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mother is at The Gardens of Hendersonville, which is a memory care facility. She's happy where she is, and everything's gone really well. We were working through the Department of Social Services for her, and so with her memory issue, there were only two places she could go, and that was one of them. In looking at a place for my mom, I never scheduled appointments and just showed up, and I did that on purpose. Every time I went to this place, it was clean, and the employees there were always friendly, kind, and patient with the residents. The administrator or director was incredibly helpful. She gave me her personal number so I could call her with any questions or concerns I had as I was going through the process. Even now, in this past month, I've called her a couple of times with questions. They are kind, and they take care of the people there. They also have a great meal service with snacks. It was a concern for us because my mother wasn't eating very well at home. Now, she's eating three meals and three snacks a day. Literally every time I've talked or visited her, she has mentioned the food and how great it is, so that's been a big deal for me. She says there's a good variety and large portions, and she likes getting the snacks during the day. Even though they're a memory care facility, I would like to see a few more activities, like guided activities with the residents. But really, other than that, everything's been great. Also, I've asked my mother, and she said she doesn't really do that stuff. I know they do have an activities calendar up, but I've never been there at a time when I've seen them doing those activities. I do know they have a room with a piano and that there are some residents who will go in and play the piano and sing. They've had speakers come in, too. They also have an area in one of the main rooms where there are puzzles and games and things like that. I just haven't personally witnessed much of that. Every time I've had a question or concern, the staff has helped immediately. My mother has been totally happy and talked about how nice everyone has been to her. The facility may not be as clean and perfect as my house, but considering what it is, I think it is very clean. Now and then, I'll walk through, and there's maybe something on the floor or the grounds may not be perfectly manicured all the time, that sort of thing, but it's still very nice. I visited some other places before I knew my mother's options would be a little more limited, but seeing those places compared to this, and knowing their price difference, this place was as nice and clean as any of those that were three times as much money.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

My husband is in Cardinal Care, and I am very happy with it. I like the friendship of the caregivers, and they are very caring people. They are always in his room, talking to him, and he is not left alone. They take care of their patients. They are very loving and very kind to them. The rooms are very large. They are very nice. They have huge windows. My husband's room overlooks an area with grass, a picnic table, and a patio where he can look out and see other people outside. He can go out if he wants to. In that certain area, they don't have to be supervised to go out. He likes to walk. They have 2 huge closets in his room and a big bathroom. They furnish the bed. You can bring anything in that you want from home or buy furniture for it to make him comfortable. We put in pictures that he likes. We bought some plants in for him. It is very homey. They have a new nutritionist there. They have very good varieties of food. They had a Saint Patrick's day party for the family and friends that wanted to come. They had corned beef, cabbage, and everything, and it was very nice. They have older bands that come in and play songs that they know. They also have parties. They have bingo and all kinds of activities. There is an activities chairman there. They have different things for different people. They have ice cream socials and movies. They also have physical therapy there for the people that need it. It is a very nice place. They take good care of the people. He is always shaven and always clean, and they check him every 2 hours.

I visited this facility

We went to see Cardinal Care Center. Room was clean and moderate. It was not too spacious, and it was just right. The staff was very nice and friendly. The dining area was fine. The residents looked fine, and they were friendly.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

My wife is at Cardinal Care Center. I chose the facility because it’s in a place where I live so it would be easier for me to visit her there. The whole facility was fine. The rooms were clean. It's well staffed and the people were friendly. The food was fine as well.

I visited this facility

The staff of Cardinal Care Center seems to be very pleasant. It is a nice and clean facility but plain-looking. Their decor is not as nice as some other places, although I don't think my relative would mind that. However, we couldn't afford it.
