"My mom is at Carolina Village. They start out as independent living -- they have houses and apartments -- then you go into the care center, which is assisted living, and then the medical. There are all levels. It is absolutely wonderful. In the seven years that she has been there, I had one complaint, it was addressed, and it never occurred again. The place is clean. Everybody who works there is very friendly and very kind. If you have any question, you can call the case manager, and within a day she will be back in touch with you. During COVID, if there was any problem at all, they called every family who was associated with the facility and let us know right up front. As far as the number of COVID cases they had, it was very minimal and mostly with workers, not with people in the facility. The workers were going in and out, and it is understandable that they are going to be exposed. The CNAs in my mother's floor have now been there for twenty years; they've been there a long time, so there is no fast turnover. I just don't have any complaints about the place. It is private pay, and they do not take Medicare or Medicaid. They vary the activities based on the area where you are living. Yesterday I spent thirty minutes talking to the activity director about all the changes that they are making right now and have been making for the past year to provide something for them, even though for a lot of the time they've been quarantined to their rooms because of COVID. But they've had virtual activities, and now they are being allowed to do a little bit more. They are playing bingo while spaced six feet apart. I cannot say enough good things about them."

"My mother and I went down to North Carolina last week, and she has found a place and is all set. Givens Estates is the name of the place. They just seemed very helpful, and everyone who lived there really liked it. It is a beautiful place. So far, everything looks great. Everything appears to be very good. They seem to really care about the people and would go out of their way to make sure everything is the way that people wanted it. They had plenty of activities and lots of nice grounds. "

"Staff were amazingly patient, well trained, helpful, genuinely caring and so supportive. Facilities were spotless and full of opportunities for socializing--also very attractive and well maintained. "

"One thing I like about White Oak is that it is in the community that I am used to. I have lived here in several homes of my own and the only reason I wanted to move was because I got tired of cooking and, since they provide a meal, it is the perfect answer. They have an activity bus, but I am still driving so I haven’t done much with it, but it is there when I need it. I have transportation to appointments and a nurse on call, and they check at night to make sure that you are alive and well. We have a wellness center and have travel logs, various speakers, and wine for dinner on Sundays, so it is hard to beat. They have a limited library and our quarters are exceptionally nice. We have crown molding and nice carpet; it is a two-bedroom, two-bath. The food is very good."

"Tryon Estates at Columbus was friendly. It was lovely. It was a wonderful place. We did stay one night and it was great. My experience with them was excellent. The rooms and surroundings were excellent. The place was excellent, beautiful and friendly. They had terrific food. There were a lot of activities. They had very nice people. They were intelligent and respectable. "
