Brookdale Asheville Walden Ridge is doing a wonderful job as far as I can tell. I can't go in to see it, but I stayed with my husband for two weeks during isolation. The staff members that I had been dealing with were very cooperative and very helpful. He's in a shared room now, but his roommate went to a hospital and then to rehab, so he's in alone in his room. He was in a private room for several months. They have exercises every day, quizzes, trivia, and singing. They have a courtyard and they are allowed to go out because it's enclosed. They also exercise in their hallways. Everybody stands outside of their door and the director stands at the end of the hall and directs them. The food is mediocre and the price is expensive.

I had a good tour of Brookdale Asheville Walden Ridge. They showed us a lot of amenities and showed us a lot of the things that were available for the residents. They had game nights. They had an open-air area for the residents to enjoy the outside. They had barbecue grills for cookouts. The facility was clean, it was up to standards, and it was unique. The grounds were well kept.

My tour at the Brookdale Asheville Walden Ridge was over the top. I was very pleased with them. They are the ones that have followed up with me and tried to help me (more than any other place). It was clean. The staff was very receptive and very nice. The director or sales manager was very helpful. They had a lot of activities for their patients. They had a lot of activities inside and out. They would take them on small trips. The dining area was very nice and well-kept; the whole place was well-kept. There's an area with rehab, which was really good.

I visited Brookdale Asheville Walden Ridge. It was a memory care center, so it was exorbitantly more expensive, and they had construction going on inside, and I was like, 'That is not going to work.' The rooms were much smaller like just a bed, a TV and a chair would fit in there. And the construction was a real issue, and I felt like the dining rooms were much smaller and the courtyard was super small. The girl who assisted me on the tour was great. Everybody seemed friendly but not as friendly as in the other facility. The rooms seemed quite nice. The staff showed me a room that somebody was already in, so it was kind of disheveled and that somebody lived there. The room in general seemed nice. And it seems like they're updating that place. I didn't get to see the library because it was closed for construction, and they were doing some more construction on another section. The outdoor was very nice out there, it was just super small and everybody was out there, so they were like one right next to the other because they all had to be crammed into that small courtyard.

We visited Brookdale Asheville Walden Ridge. The rooms were very nice and very well equipped. The facility was elegant, but comfortable. The atmosphere was quiet. The staff was knowledgeable. There was a musician coming in to do a live presentation when we were there. The dining area was formal.

My father lived here for about 1.5 years after Mom had been his caregiver through the earlier stages of his dementia. Dad was comfortable here from the day he arrived. Staff members took time to build personal rapport that kept him smiling and feeling at home. On occasions when he left the facility he was clearly happy to greet their familiar faces and relax upon returning. Along with meeting other residents’ varied needs they always kept Dad well groomed, and maintained the facilities well despite the special challenges that can arise in a dementia community. When Dad needed to switch to a puréed diet, they carefully prepared varied menus, and he continued to enjoy mealtimes. His dementia included a restlessness that kept him walking all day long and through most of many nights, the staff patiently accommodated this quality-of-life need while guarding his safety as much as possible. They carefully monitored his changing condition, keeping me informed and recommending appropriate changes in medication, food, and therapy strategies. The medical supervisors became trusted partners in helping our family navigate the course of our journey with Dad through his illness.

Please consider fully your decision before placing a family member at this facility. My father received substandard care. I am saddened, but not surprised that my Dad passed away over a week ago (while in the hospital), and I have yet to hear a word from any person at the facility. They are excellent at marketing, but please know the medical care is subpar at best. My Dad was found in urine soaked (from the waist down) the day after we asked three times to have the nurse listen to his breathing (which was rattling) . We (his paid outside companion and me) watched the nurse go outside and smoke multiple cigarettes before checking on him in the late afternoon. She said there was no fluid in his lungs. EVERYONE, from the EMTs who came to pick him up to hospital personnel confirmed his lungs were filled with fluid. Who checked in on him the night before? The nurse opened the door for the companion and then walked away, leaving her to navigate everything that had to be done. He tried to get up and could not walk. Where was the help? Again, they are marketing machines. They tell you they check on your loved one at frequent intervals. Having spent full days there, I know for a fact this is not true.

My husband is in Brookdale. It's excellent and great all the way around. They've been absolutely wonderful. It's clean, modern, comfortable, and cheerful. Everything is too expensive, but they're no more expensive than anybody else. I'm more than satisfied with them.

I also visited Clare Bridge of Asheville, and this place was excellent. They were in the right price range as well. They have the biggest place for their memory care residents to wander, and their residents looked happy. I found the facility to be very well managed and maintained.

Clare Bridge was very clean. The people were very friendly. They had a low number of residents. I liked their dining room a lot. It had very nice tablecloths. It was only the size of the room that deterred us from that location.

I have already moved my parent and she is in Clare Bridge of Asheville. She has been there for about three weeks now. Their staff is very attentive, nice and seems to really care for the residents there. They are trying to get them to do as much as they are able to do and be more independent as they can be, so they can retain as much dignity as they can. I'm very pleased with this facility.

I still haven't found an appropriate facility just yet, but I did like Clare Bridge of Asheville for my mother. What I like best about this facility was that they just seemed to have a very effective and organized program. Also the place was very beautiful and clean. Their staff seemed very caring and competent. This facility would be a good place to put her in and I think she would like it here too; however, in talking with my family, they decided it was too expensive and I have to agree.

Clare Bridge was an answer to our prayers. They offered my father a safe place to live, where he was loved and accepted for himself. Through each stage of dementia, they would always find a loving way to deal with what ever was going on with him. He was treated with dignity and they encouraged him to keep doing the life skills that he could. I was impressed when they adapted the same menu that others were served into finger foods, so that he could feed himself. He was encouraged to participate in activities. The staff has specific training to handle residents with memory issues. We were in 3 other facilities before Clare Bridge, and they were so deficient in their ability to care for persons with dementia. I will always be thankful for the staff that always tried with dad to help him have small moments of sucess and that each day be the best that it could be. I was impressed that it wasn't just my dad that I witnessed this care given but all the residents. They also helped us as a family to understand better the disease of Alzheimers and they lovingly cared for us as well. I only wish all facilities could receive the training that Clare Bridge requires of their staff. I will always be thankful for our time in this facility because I know my dad felt that he was genuinely loved and cared for.
