What ongoing training does the staff receive in dementia care?
The Hearth operates on a people-first basis, which is why we’ve developed our Care Connect® training program. Anyone working in our communities, from team leaders to housekeeping staff undergoes the same 13 training modules to make sure they understand our commitment to providing respectful and compassionate care. Through Care Connect®, our team explores the power of communication and learns how to develop deep connections with our residents. What programs or activities does Keepsake Village at Greenpoint offer to keep residents engaged? How does the staff engage residents' long-term memories?
Keepsake Village at Greenpoint offers year-round activities and events to keep residents moving, thinking, engaging and enjoying MORE. Our community provides fresh, fun and fulfilling opportunities for families seeking elder care in the Syracuse, NY area. From lunch outings, nature trips, and musical events, along with all-day programming that alternates from active to passive, your loved ones are sure to have a fulfilled and meaningful experience every single day.
Who assesses residents' health and cognitive functioning? How often is that assessment repeated?
Hearth nursing or case management staff will conduct an assessment to determine a person's physical and cognitive functioning abilities prior to admission. Once an individual is moved in to a Hearth community, physical and cognitive functioning is monitored as part of their individualized care plan. Each resident maintains responsibility to attend their routine annual exams with the assistance of our case management staff.
What techniques does Keepsake Village at Greenpoint use to support memory care residents during mealtimes?
Keepsake Village is happy to accommodate many diets, including Gluten-free, Low/No sodium, Low/No sugar, and more! Nutritious snacks are also offered throughout the day at no charge to keep your loved one energized and ready for the many engaging moments awaiting them!
How does Keepsake Village at Greenpoint keep residents' families informed about their loved ones' health?
Keepsake Village sends out monthly newsletters and activity calendars to friends and family members of our residents. We include special events such as our Resident's birthdays, staff anniversaries, as well as entertainers, spiritual events, and holiday happenings. For individual residents, we encourage communication with our staff via phone, email, or in-person meetings. We do our very best to keep communication open and easy so that all who are involved are on the same page.
