My grandmother was transferred to the COVID unit from another facility. There are no phones in the rooms and contact with her has been extremely difficult. The staff have done the best they are able, however the lack of an operational phone line in the room is problematic. Having visitation restricted, other forms of communication are paramount. It has been almost 2 weeks and I am still unable to freely speak with my grandmother. Had I known that we would be unable to communicate with her freely I would have selected another facility, one with operational phone lines in the rooms.

A family member was at the facility and within 2 weeks of being there contracted COVID. Our family member repeatedly told us that the food was terrible and frequently did not eat the meals. The facility is so poorly staffed that it took hours for our phone calls to be answered on many occasions. Messages left for directors of various services at the facility were never returned. Our family member's call light went unanswered for more than hour at a time requiring us to intervene. The staff were not forthcoming with information and often refused to provide information related to the status and health of our loved one. I highly encourage anyone considering sending their loved one to this facility to conduct adequate research first. Unfortunately, now due to COVID, an in person tour is not likely, but request, in writing, what the specific care will look like that your loved one will receive. Such care topics should include hygiene, grooming, eating/feeding, safety, and training the staff receives to stay current with medical care trends, including HIPAA rights of patients and family. Ask for references. Also request, in writing, what the staffing will look like for each shift. Inquire as to the number of patients/residents on a given floor/department and how many nurses and care attendants will be available to provide care for each shift. I do not recommend entrusting the care of your loved one to this facility.

Takes over an hour often times to get someone to change a urine or feces soiled patient or their bleeding . No one cleaning just emptying garbages. Heat is unbearable and breeding grounds for germs. Takes close to an hour often for someone to answer the nurses alarm . Breathing treatments are left on patients with no supervision and do not even come Back to end the treatment . Not reading patients charts so not giving meds they need and sometimes order a mess the patient was already on . Dr Cooley supposedly prescribes Via tele constantly but she had not been seen on campus one in the 3 weeks my grandfather has been there and even a nurse said she’s never seen her either ... unbelievable this place is like a twilight zone

My dad is now at Lutheran Home of Central New York. He went in May 1st. The staff is wonderful. The building itself is 100 years old, but it is very clean and very homey. The residents seem happy. My dad seems to fit right in going to meals. They're going to manage his medication. The staff seems very competent and trusting. My dad isn't much into group activities but they invited him to bingo and other activities. He either accepted or declined, so they respect his choice. He goes to the dining room, which is a good sign. They are very proactive about getting him involved. Food is very good. It is the only place that has continuum of care. They have independent, assisted, skilled or rehab and memory care. That's what I was looking for.
