"My husband is in Emerald Place in Glenview. It's a memory care facility. What I like about it is the location, the staff is extremely friendly and helpful, and they made the moving-in process very easy. The cleanliness is very good and the rooms are very nice and spacious. Overall, it's a beautiful facility and they seem to really take a great interest in their patients. They have wonderful communication with the families too. They have tons of activities. Every day they post a chart on the wall that has the monthly calendar, and there are numerous activities daily. I have not tried their food, but from what I've seen that my husband has had, they're not having their full menu right now. They had a water pipe issue in the dining room so they had to close the dining room and put in a new ceiling. The residents have been eating either in their own rooms or the community room, and they're not getting the choices that they would normally get on their printed daily menu. The food still looks good though."

"My mother was at Norwood Crossing. She went in sort of in the lowest level of care, she was living pretty independently, and they did medication checks, and then as time went on she became very ill and she unfortunately was admitted into their hospice program and passed away. Nevertheless, I cannot say enough good things about them, they were just unbelievably fabulous through every phase of my mother's time there. They're really loving, fabulous people, and I would not hesitate to recommend people look at that facility. Everybody from the cleaning people to the medical staff, the physical therapists, they were fantastic, and I'm in heathcare, so I'm a hard sell, so they were really good. My mother always had issues with the food, so she did not like the food there, and sadly she complained about it. Early on my mother had her own little apartment, which was really nice because she got to have her own furniture and even her cat. They also had a wing of nursing beds that she stayed in when she was in hospice, and that was fine. They had a whole range of activities both inside as well as outside, and they had transportation, too. For the price point it was also great."

"I toured Clarendale Six Corners for my uncle. It's convenient. They seem to care, and that he's going to get the care that he needs. It seemed like a nice place. The staff was very friendly, very informative, and caring. The facility was brand-new. The size of the room was adequate and seemed to have a positive atmosphere."

"I'm moving into Amazing Grace Senior Living. I like it. It's close to home. I'm giving it a 5 because of the care they show there. It's new. The people are happy, too. The staff member who assisted me was Susan, and she was good. I tried their food, and it was good. I was hungry, and I missed lunch, so they gave me a sandwich. It was a tasty sandwich, better than anything I got at the other place. The rooms were adequate. At the other place, you get a two-room suite, but at Amazing Grace, it is a fairly small room, but it has a private bath and a nice window."

"I went to St. Joseph Village of Chicago. The staff was very good. The only drawback of that facility is that they don't have long-term memory care. It's only short-term for memory care. From there, they send them to other facilities, so I wasn't too happy about that. That didn't fit my needs. The good thing is that if you need to stay there for a week or so or just for a short-term visit, it'll work out for you, but long-term-wise, it's not what I needed. They have a rehab center and a nice chapel. The facility itself was very clean. To get in, it's pretty secure. They have to buzz you in. It was a nice facility, and the staff was friendly."

"My wife will be moving into The Sheridan at Park Ridge. It was the best of all the places that we looked at. The thing that stood out to me was the staff. It didn't feel like a memory care unit at all when you walked in the door. It felt like a much higher-end facility, almost like a hotel. The apartments were the best we've seen. There was enough space to have more than just a bed and a dresser, and then there was a nice bathroom. They had access to several different programs and activities. They had a nice outdoor space and nice meeting rooms. They've got space for us to have parties with family members if we want."

"North Shore Place is older in their setup. I know a couple of people that are there already, and they don't have any complaints about it. It has a full shuttle service for ten miles, I think in any direction. They do not have an indoor garage for your car, if you're keeping your car. The rooms are nice. They're just slightly bigger than the other one. The staff was outstanding. She's been there a while. She's their sales agent or sales rep. She was wonderful. She just gave me lunch to take home, and it was fine. They have a lot of activities. I wouldn't be interested in a whole lot of them. I do play bridge a lot, and they have that. You can get bridge games every day. They have very nice people there."

"I toured Sunrise of Park Ridge. It's a very cozy atmosphere. The staff was very informative and very nice. It's very clean and very well-kept. It's a very comforting feeling. The dining area was adequate."

"We toured Sunrise of Lincoln Park. Everyone was friendly and helpful. The tour went well. The only problem is that in assisted living it's only a fridge and a microwave. They have an outdoor patio. They also serve three meals a day."

"My husband is going to go to Belmont Village Lincoln Park. Why we chose that one, was because of their more aggressive approach to involving residents in activities, getting them out of their rooms, making sure they're up and dressed and using their hearing aids and glasses, and staying up and dressed during the day. The person who gave me the tour was very knowledgeable, very helpful, and very thorough. The rooms were quite adequate. They're very nice and brand new. They have closets and drawers. The place is a very nice physical plan, and it is brand new. I like the fact that it had some outdoor space so that residents could be taken outside to get some fresh air. The dining area looked very pleasant, it smelled good, and the people seemed quite content eating there. With regard to activities, they all seemed engaged and involved in group activities when I was there. I don't know what specific activities were, but there was stuff going on in the common room. The atmosphere was very upbeat. It was brand new, so everything just looked very nice and seemed solidly built. On the change of residents, they refreshed the room and repainted it. Everybody seemed very involved and very friendly. Everyone seemed to know all the residents."

"I toured the Arden Courts of Northbrook. Their employees have lots of experience. From what they told me, what I could see, and who I met, all have a lot of experience, some of them as many as 15 to 20 years. By industry standards, they have a pretty high ratio of caregivers to clients. Also, the woman I spoke to was very forthcoming about what would happen. They met my expectations. The facility itself is not brand new. The physical plan, though it's designed properly, could use some sprucing up here and there."

"My dad has been there in memory care for almost 4 years. The staff has been wonderful dealing with him and being accommodating for my mom who visited everyday. When covid hit the facility rose to the challenge. Recently the facility started to allow visitors again and we were able to connect with dad before he passed away this week. Again, the staff was so accommodating and helpful as we spent time with my dad during his final days. We really appreciate everyone who helped with my dad over these 4 years. Thank you . "

"I have chosen Sunrise of Highland Park. They have two-room suites. There are two bedrooms and one bathroom with an adjoining small common area. It's an attractive facility. They have very helpful staff. It's a suburban environment."
