"My husband will be moving into Oakmont of Westpark memory care. The whole atmosphere was very nice, and the people were very nice. We picked a room that he was happy with. I took him there on a tour after touring it myself and he liked it. The gardens are beautiful, and there are activities. I'm not sure how much my husband's going to participate because he has dementia. I brought other family members with us. There were four of us, and they treated us to lunch in their dining room. It was like eating in a 5-star restaurant. It was very nice. We had menus. We all had different things, and everyone was very pleased with their meals and with the service. We had a very nice waiter and like I said, it was like being in a very nice restaurant. It's a beautiful facility. They have a salon there. My husband needs a lot of care. He needs help with dressing and help with a lot of physical things and that's what's most important to me."

"My mother and I toured this place. I had an appointment with Maria, but Rich (her husband) showed us around. No big deal, but worth noting. The house is on the smaller side, but in a nice neighborhood near a golf course. The house was very clean and homey, but seemed kind of dark to me. The available room was the master, very spacious, en suite bathroom and small side patio. Rich told me that in the spring, they plant lots of fruits and vegetables and I felt that was a nice touch. There are currently no women residents and my mom would be alone. The social aspect is important to us, so we'll be passing on this place."

"I can't say enough good things about Diamond Oaks Residential Care in Roseville. From the moment we walked in, it felt like a second home for my grandma. The staff are incredibly caring and experienced—over 30 years in the field says it all. What really touched us is their family-centric approach; they make you feel like you're part of their family, not just another resident. My grandma loves the activities, especially the weekly music sessions by the administrator. Plus, the location is super convenient, right near medical facilities and a beautiful park. "Sunrise of Rocklin was very nice, warm, and inviting. The staff was super kind and nice. I saw the residents doing some classes, they also had games, and a library. Everything there was good. People would be comfortable living in that place."

"My mother-in-law moved into Loomis Home Care. So far, the people, the owners, and the staff, the beautiful facility, we're very happy with the area that she's in. I have not personally been inside because of COVID, but my husband did go inside, and he was fine with the interior. The interior of the place, room, back patio facilities, and by the small lake was nice and pleasant. We're very happy with where she's at. They do have activities. We're very happy with the activities that are available to her. They have dancing, singing that we know of, some arts, crafts or activities. I'm not there with her when she does the activities, but she seems to be very happy. We've heard that the food is good from my brother-in-law's friend who has his mother also at the facility. We're very happy with everything. We're not disappointed, or nothing's been negative, so we're fine."

"I went to look at Summerfield of Roseville. What I liked most was that the girl who gave me the tour was super friendly. She gave me all the information. She was extremely helpful and listened to all of my concerns. There wasn't anything that I didn't like about it. I liked the fact that it was a nice, small community. She showed me a little courtyard area. There was a television room for them and a dining area. It was nice, small, and intimate, which would not overwhelm somebody with some memory issues. It's an older facility, but it looked well-kept."

"We toured Vista Roseville Senior Living. It was very nice. The staff was helpful. The one thing we didn't care about was the music they played all the time. We felt that wasn't something my sister-in-law would care for. It wasn't very relaxing. It was upbeat. Maybe they don't have that all the time, but that music going was a little intrusive. The apartments were very nice and well taken care of. The accommodations there for the food and everything looked very nice."

"When my mom and I toured, there were two private rooms available. They would share the spacious bathroom just a few feet away. The house is comfy and clean. Veronica, one of the owners showed us around. Currently, the tenants are two women and two men, and they were very friendly. As we were leaving my mom said to me, now that's more like it. I think she liked it, but we're still looking."

"The senior community I like next would be the Meadow Oaks of Roseville. The salesperson that showed us around was very good. The nursing there seemed excellent, too. We talked to her, and I'd say she was very good as well. The receptionists were OK. The rooms were small. They did not have as much room. They were like 400 square feet. They're very tiny. They have a nice kitchenette area, though. I'd have to say their kitchenette (the way they have it laid out) is nice, but those rooms needed to be bigger at least for our father. They have a beauty salon. They have an activity room with bingo and everything. It's one great big room, and that was nice. In the center part, where the rooms overlook, they have a little courtyard. It's a smaller facility. For a small facility, I thought it was very nice."

"I thought A Bright Future Care Home was great. I felt like everything was very organized and in its place. The person I talked to answered all of my questions, and he was very forthcoming. He gave me insights that I didn't think about, and it helped me in looking at my mother in law's care. He also let me know that every room has its own TV and a bed. He said I can bring a hospital bed if I need to. He showed me two rooms, and they were really nice. It was spotless. That was one of the things that impressed me: how clean everything was. He explained that they go for walks, do puzzles, and play a lot of cards with the residents. It really depends on what they want to do."

"It has almost been a year since I placed my husband at Country House. The experience has been very emotional because I was the sole caregiver prior to having to place him in a memory care facility. I think that Country House is very unusual in that it is truly a family-oriented facility and the staff tries extremely hard to include their residents' families in so many activities. When I go to visit my spouse, I feel like I am always welcome no matter what time of day, and I feel as if it is my second home. All the caregivers and staff welcome me with hugs and are truly happy to see me as well as some of the other residents. We are all one big family!! If there is one thing that we can work on it's our communication skills. I'm sure this is something that needs to be addressed in most care facilities, and that is making sure all those in charge of care are on the same page in understanding all the variables that need to be addressed in the day-to-day care of each resident. I think it would be helpful if I had a regularly scheduled monthly appointment with a staff member to discuss my husband's care in detail. Another suggestion that came up recently was that it might be really beneficial for the families of Alzheimer's patients to learn more about Hospice and how they can interact and help not just in the last days but as the disease progresses. Hopefully Country House could sponsor a session to learn more about what Hospice can offer to help Alzheimer's patients as well as their families. "
