Independence Village is a very nice, comforting facility in Columbus, IN. Every time I visit the facility, I notice the staff is always interacting and willing to provide any type of support to the residents. They offer many activities on a daily basis for the residents. The care seekers are very polite and helpful as well.

In the several years my life-long friend has been a resident here we, his family and friends, have been pleased that he calls this place home. His living space is neat, modern and homey. The deck is a big plus! When I visit him, he often tells me about his days, and shares the goings on at his retirement community. The neighborly atmosphere, and activities there tend to foster long-term friendships. The staff is professional and friendly. They make time to find answers and/or help out, if ever my friend, or I, have a question or concern. And the dining room at mealtime can be a great time to catch up with neighbors. Things have worked out well so far. We are looking forward to the days ahead too!

Rooms were very adequate. Staff was excellent. The food was average The facility was neat and well equipped The grounds were very beautiful and accessible. Sadly overnight staff was eliminated many years ago and they gave a sense of security for the residents. The cost was reasonable. Activity’s were good and kept residents involved as they wished.

The staff is the best part of this place. They all care so much for the residents. The rooms are fairly spacious even the smaller ones have huge closet spaces. The entire building just received a face lift with all new paint, carpet, and furniture. It is very pleasing and comfortable. The food is pretty good. You can never please everyone so you have to take that into account but what I ate was always good. They have lots of entertainment and games daily. Most of the residents are pretty social and they all watch out for each other.

The staff that work at Independence Village of Columbus have been amazing to mom. They go above and beyond to help her and all the residents with any needs or requests that they may need. It feels like home when I go to visit her annd the other residents make it feel like a small close-knit community. The staff communicates well making phone calls if necessary to share information on anything that might be going on. There are plenty of activities for them to enjoy their retirement days.

I went and toured. I thought it was nice. I toured a one-bedroom downstairs, and I liked that. I liked the fact that the shower is handicap accessible, and I like that the unit had a way to go outside. Then I toured a two-bedroom upstairs, which was nice. Their dining room and all the different areas were exceptional. The staff members were nice people. I saw some of the people that were living there, and they were all very friendly, too. Some of them were doing activities like checkers and different things. Overall, it was wonderful.

It is beautiful. I've met a lot of people and everybody seemed to be very, very welcoming. They are helpful, easy to get along with and answer all my questions. I have a balcony in my apartment. There's also a gazebo out in the yard and plenty of walking spaces outside. The dining room is wonderful. I get three meals a day here. A lot is going on. There are different games and crafts, and there's an exercise room that you can go to.

My mother-in-law lived here. It was great, but it wasn't a perfect fit for her because she was a little bit too independent. The staff was very good. When I ate there, it was very good. The dining room was very nice, and it was just lovely. They came and cleaned the apartments, and it was very nice. They had games, music, church services, television, and groups come in and entertain them.

My father moved in and he likes it so far. They have all kinds of activities and he enjoys that. Their staff is fine and his room there is nice. The dining area there is very nice and set up in a formal concept, they also have an outdoor area. I would describe the overall atmosphere is comfortable.

We're very impressed. It's an excellent facility, and we didn't see anything we didn't like. The apartments were adequately sized. The place was very good. We saw the people eating, and it looked like they were happy. One time we were there, they were playing games in the dining room.

My mother-in-law has already moved in. We are very pleased with the housekeeping. They come in every week and clean, they provide sheets and change the beds, and they bring towels and the toilet tissue. They have all the meals prepared in the dining hall, in which there are usually 4 choices that you could pick from. We like the fact that they have snacks after hours. After the dining room has closed, there is a refrigerator that has got usually sandwiches and desserts, and they have all the snacks available in that form. They do activities with them. They have euchre, dominoes, and puzzles; they have all sorts of things like that. They will provide transportation if you need it. They’ll take you to the doctors’ appointments or the hairdresser, and they will pick up prescriptions; they do all of that. The managers are very nice. They try to be on a level with the people as far as calling them by names so they know exactly who it is; that really impressed our family. The housekeepers and the people in the dining hall do the same thing. So when they walk by they say, “Hi, so and so,” and from that aspect, it is very inviting. They bring in entertainment for them. A lot of times after their lunch meal or after the dinner meal, they will have entertainment. They also have crafts; they have everything for you. You could actually live there, and they provide everything. It is just like if you were in a condo situation or an apartment building. It is very clean, and there is somebody cleaning and stuff almost continuously, so when you go in you see somebody cleaning. It is 2-floors, and they have 1-bedroom apartments, 2-bedroom apartments, and the efficiency apartment. They also have a hairdresser there too. I like the fact that if anybody could move in there and you are independent, you can come and go if you please, and you don’t have to sign in or sign out. The building is locked at night after a certain time that you have keys, and every family member gets keys, so they can come and go. You can come into the apartment at any time, and you are not limited to any of that. It is just the atmosphere of the whole place, and everybody is really friendly there.

My brother is in here. The staff seems really nice. The lady helps set him up. I eat dinner with him and see him 2 times a day. The room is pretty nice. He has a studio because he is by himself, but it is in a right size. It is all open except for the kitchen and the bathroom. The dining room is really nice, and the food is really good. I eat there, and I really like it. The have quite a few activities, but I don't know what they are.

I like the grounds that they have. They have a little garden area, and it's nice. The rooms seem a little smaller, though. The kitchen is just really not a separate room; it's just up against the wall of one big rectangle room. The kitchen is at one end, and the living area is at the other end. The staff seems to be very nice. They do have activities. The dining area is very nice. The facility is very clean.

My mom has lived here for over a couple of years now. The facility is very good. It's very clean. They come in and clean her room once a week. She really likes the retirement community. She has met several people there and they have all kinds of activities. They serve three meals a day. The staff is good.
