"I was able to visit Harbour Village. I was very impressed. The people were also very helpful. When I walked in, everything was clean. The people made me feel comfortable. It's a place I would be happy to have my mother stay. They had amenities there that made me feel comfortable. If she was walking alone by herself in the hallways and if she fell or something, they had a life alert. "

"My brother and I toured Layton Terrace Senior Living together and we both liked it. The lady who took us around was very helpful and very informative. If we had a question, she answered it. The rooms were sufficient. What they would have for my mom is almost like an efficiency apartment. It was all in one room, but it seemed to be designed well and we were fine with it. Then they had areas where a memory care resident could go outside and sit sometimes. They also had areas where they would gather together at meals and do activities. They would play bingo there, do some artwork stuff, play board games/cards, and have some entertainment on occasion. So, we were pleased with them."

"I toured Library Square. It doesn't have memory care there, and mom has Alzheimer's. We don't think she needs memory care right now, but I wanted her to be in a place where she doesn't have to move again. I was very happy with Library Square. I toured two assisted living rooms there, and they were very nice. They were two one-bedrooms that varied in size. The first one-bedroom was 700 square feet; it was really beautiful and very large. The other one-bedroom was more like 550 square feet, and that was fine, too. They were both very nice, just different sizes. The person who gave me the tour was very helpful. I've been on the phone with her several times, just planning on sending my mom there. She did a good job."

"Howard Village Senior Living is pretty much what I am looking for. However, I wanted a better exercise room, and they only have a few little things: a bike, but not a full gym. The staff was very welcoming, very friendly, and very thorough. The building was excellent. It was very clean, very neat, very bright, and had a welcoming environment."

"Hart Park Square is a 5 for the people, everything that's going on, and it's really nice when you walk in. The staff was really good, the dining area was really nice, and it was very warm, and comfortable. I was impressed with the amenities. The only problem was the location. "It was wonderful. Though the apartment that I would want for my mom, she can't go in because she doesn't have a dementia diagnosis. None of the other apartments were appropriate, but it's a wonderful, beautiful, stunning place. I loved it, but it was just not right for my mom. The facility is fantastic and beautiful. The apartments were nice. There's no furniture or anything, so you have to furnish everything yourself. A lot of the places have at least the bed and dressers, and they have nothing in there. The person who gave me the tour was phenomenal. He was wonderful, I can't say enough, he's newer, and he just did a wonderful job. They have activities, and they try to engage the people. The only issue that I had was, it wasn't right for my mother because she doesn't have the right diagnosis to stay on the dementia side. Then on the other side, you have to walk. It was a distance for me to walk to get to the dining room, so you'd have to be pretty darn independent or in an automatic wheelchair. It's just too far for her to walk, and she's not going to go in a wheelchair for the dining room. Their menu looked wonderful; I was drooling when I was there."

"I have a lot of friends here. It's really easy to meet people because there are a lot of activities. We just had a big St. Patrick's Day celebration. Usually the celebrations are followed with a meal in the cafeteria. They have special programs with music or dancing. We had Irish singers and Irish dancers here. We have a lot of standing committees, like a Parkinson's committee that meets. We also have a council meeting and programs for art and painting. Right now, we only have a Catholic service, so I'm trying to get a Protestant service going. I just wrote a book of prayers that they are going to publish. It will help people who have trouble knowing what to pray for or how to pray. It's a good choice. There are people that are mostly independent, but they have somebody doing their laundry. We have housekeepers that come in once a week. If anything happens, like you spill on the carpet or something, they will come in off schedule. They will clean the carpeting for you and help you clean up any mess you make by accident. The staff are very sympathetic. They have a lot of work to do, but they have a good sense of humor. They always greet you in the morning. In the afternoon, they ask how things are. When you put your call light on, they come pretty much on time. They provide meals three times a day, plus they have a bistro with snacks. Food is not very ethnically related. I think people would enjoy having different types of foods, like Italian and Mexican. They have some of that, but probably not enough. This is a beautiful, beautiful place. It is always kept very clean. They vacuum the carpeting every day. They pick up any messes that are left in the hall. We empty our garbage outside of our door, and they always pick it up (practically before you close the door). They are open to new activities. I would say that the value for the dollar is good."
