Everything is beautifully taken care of. I really didn't get to talk to the staff. That's a huge factor. You want to know the staff and who's taking care of your mom. "

"I am in Brookdale Place Brookfield. They have very nice people, but the staff is changing quickly. They are not paid enough. You will have care, but you have to know exactly what you want because they are in within a minute, and then they're gone and turn to someone else. They have a lot of people they have to care for. If you ask them to do something, they may or may not do it depending on the job, and if takes five minutes, you'll probably not have it. My room is a mess. It looks like a teenager lives there because it is very difficult for me to clean something up, especially when I have no place to put anything, so I ended up messing it up more than anything else. That's what I am looking at, more space and a one-on-one type. They have very good food. They have activities, but we don't go out more. However, they are very expensive. I am being charged $50,000 a year to live here, and I don't have an income like that because my income is only $43,000 a year. "

"My mom lived here for a year in the memory care unit. Her private room was perfect. She was treated with kindness and care. Could not say more about the staffs Communication skills and care of my mom and attention to her daily needs. She loved going to music, exercise classes and Sunday church services. Her favorite thing was watching the daycare kids through the windows! Loved this place!"

"I like the dedication and commitment of the executive director in Brookdale Brookfield. They are very invested in taking care of people with memory issues. The facility is clean, reasonable, convenient geographically, and highly recommended by other people, which is why we chose it. It seemed like a nice community and was well-staffed. The rooms I saw there were studios, and they have activities."

"I toured Oak Hill Terrace Senior Living. It was much larger than the other facility. There were more people around. They all seemed happy. The staff was very efficient. It was a larger place. So, the check-in and everything was very easy. I had the wrong time for my appointment, but Jen came out anyway, and we did the tour and everything. The dining area looked very nice. They had the tables with the plate settings and everything all set up and their menu looked excellent. They had a special chef just for the people. I would give them a five for helpfulness and knowledge, but it didn't have anything in a secure area for sitting outside. They were only sitting outside like in the front entrance area. So, there's nothing secure for anybody. It was just pretty open. It had 3 or 4 level floors, so you had to use an elevator. The upkeep and the buildings were fine."

"I have a lot of friends here. It's really easy to meet people because there are a lot of activities. We just had a big St. Patrick's Day celebration. Usually the celebrations are followed with a meal in the cafeteria. They have special programs with music or dancing. We had Irish singers and Irish dancers here. We have a lot of standing committees, like a Parkinson's committee that meets. We also have a council meeting and programs for art and painting. Right now, we only have a Catholic service, so I'm trying to get a Protestant service going. I just wrote a book of prayers that they are going to publish. It will help people who have trouble knowing what to pray for or how to pray. It's a good choice. There are people that are mostly independent, but they have somebody doing their laundry. We have housekeepers that come in once a week. If anything happens, like you spill on the carpet or something, they will come in off schedule. They will clean the carpeting for you and help you clean up any mess you make by accident. The staff are very sympathetic. They have a lot of work to do, but they have a good sense of humor. They always greet you in the morning. In the afternoon, they ask how things are. When you put your call light on, they come pretty much on time. They provide meals three times a day, plus they have a bistro with snacks. Food is not very ethnically related. I think people would enjoy having different types of foods, like Italian and Mexican. They have some of that, but probably not enough. This is a beautiful, beautiful place. It is always kept very clean. They vacuum the carpeting every day. They pick up any messes that are left in the hall. We empty our garbage outside of our door, and they always pick it up (practically before you close the door). They are open to new activities. I would say that the value for the dollar is good."
