"I toured Villa Santa Barbara. All in all, I thought it was very good. I thought the staff would be very attentive. They had lots of activities which I don't think my sister wants to partake in, but it's nice to know there are options. It's ideally located, it's close to the library. It's close to the art museum. It's close to the movie theater. They also had underground parking. This particular unit had a small private balcony, but it was nice. They served three meals a day which was convenient. Our host and tour guide was terrific. She was thorough clear and attentive to our needs. As we walked around we bumped into various people doing various things. They all seemed very pleasant, very focused, and energetic. The dining room looked quite large. Every dinner they put on white tablecloths which have little detail. The facility was well-designed but maybe it's a little outdated. They have a little library, which they were in the process of remodeling. They had a game room. They had a gym. They didn't have a swimming pool which was too bad, but it seemed like a nice facility all the way around."

"My mother is in Friendship Manor. It's independent living. They provide meals, and they have a dining room. It's three meals a day during the week and two on weekends. They just do brunch and dinner on weekends, but three meals during the week. Normally, you go down the dining room. For an extra $2 you can have it delivered to your room or you can go down and get it yourself and take it back to your room (which is what they've been doing for the last two years because of Covid). They haven't opened up their dining room yet. Before COVID, they had all sorts of activities like joyride on Fridays. They go in the van. You sign up for a joyride and go around Santa Barbara area. They had movie nights, pizza nights, chocolate chip cookies and ice cream socials. There was a lot of activity going on before COVID. I hope that they get back to that. A lot of people come in and help them. My mom has a lady who comes in every other day and check on her. It used to be just one day a week, but I told her I want her to get some help. You do your own laundry, but they have machines and you pay for the machines. They have a lady that does hairdressing, cut hair, and shampoo. They try to provide all the amenities. They have a medical van that runs Mondays and Thursdays. They try to provide everything they can, but nobody is going to check on you. If you don't show up for a meal, nobody goes and checks on you. She fell the other day and nobody checked on her because it was in the middle of the night. There's no way she can call for help. Had she fallen in the daytime, maybe she could yell and somebody could have heard her. I got her an alert thing now, which she puts around her neck. If she falls, she could push the alert thing. It's an older building and it shows. It's not that it's dirty, but it could use some repairs. The staff members are nice and friendly. The people there are friendly, and the residents are very happy. The food needs a lot of improvement. They offer a choice every night and have either a meat dish or a vegetarian dish. She likes her food seasoned, but if you have that big of a clientele, you have to cook for everybody. I think they just don't put seasoning because a lot of people can't eat that kind of stuff. You can always add seasoning, but you can't take away. It's definitely a good value."

"Maravilla is a beautiful luxury facility. The rooms are small. However, there are lots of different sizes. The staff was good. I have eaten there in the past. It is open to the public at lunchtime and the food's good. The dining area was large."

"My cousin is a resident of Valle Verde. It is absolutely beautiful. The staff is really great, and the food looks really great to me. When he got there, he really enjoyed it. I know they have bingo. If a resident or a patient has some kind of talent (like playing an instrument, dancing, or anything of that nature), they encourage that. They come every day to give them physical therapy. I thought the food looked great."

"Everything at Atterdag Village is really nice. The lady was really excellent. The rooms were nice, and they were in the process of refurbishing some. The meals were great; it looks like they were doing a good job. They had a pool, they go on different trips, different games, and they have meetings and movies. They had pictures that were painted by the residents. They tried to incorporate a lot of talents of the residents, and I thought that was really nice. One thing I didn’t like about them was that the rooms were too far away from everything else. "

Review of Maravilla
Maravilla was more expensive and a little bit ostentatious. It's more for people who are wealthier, who like to have a big foyer, a big living room, and big tapestries. It's just really fancy. So...
