"My mother stayed at The Tree Of Life Retirement Homes. It's probably the best option for a board-and-care place. It's for people who have mid- to late-stage dementia. They also have people that are cognitively there, but physically they're not. There are also people in wheelchairs. Each person has a private room. The food is excellent, and it's all homemade. They read to them, and they do coloring and painting. There's no playing ball or bowling like the other larger facilities have. It's a quieter facility. It's a house, and they have bedrooms. I would recommend this place to anybody. It's very clean, and all the activities are geared toward each person. There are no group activities because each person requires a different level of care."

"My mother lives in the Heritage House. It is a very high end facility, and the price is pretty expensive. It is small. They had like 60 residents in total. There is a high ratio of health care workers to residents. It is a very nice and quiet place. It doesn't smell like cleaning fluid or stinky or anything. When you walk in, there is no smell. It is like home, and it is very nice. They have tons of activities. Every day they have 3 to 4 things going on. They have trips out to lunch, bingo, entertainment, and karaoke. They have a dining room. They keep them pretty busy. Then, they have activities where they include the family like special dinners on mother's day or Easter and Christmas. Then they have happy hour on Friday afternoon and a barbeque day every Monday."

"Country Garden's Home Care for The Elderly is a private home run by a Filipino family and I give them an A-plus. They're so great. They only have six people and they're all Alzheimer's patients and they do a fantastic job with them. I'm so thankful that my mother's there and that we can afford it at this point. She's been there for three years now. It's really clean and they take such good care of my mom. They all eat around the same table. They have really good food, like salmon and decent meals. When the holidays come, Ceci (the main gal that lives there), and her husband, Nestor, decorate the whole house beautifully and they celebrate each person's birthday. They make a big deal about holidays. It's beautiful. They don't have many activities because most of the people are kind of out of it, but they have a big screen TV, and then sometimes they put music on for my mother because she's not as bad off. She has vascular dementia. She doesn't have Alzheimer's, so she is a little more active. They always walk her around and make sure that she can walk. When we visit, we have to wear a mask and we go outside to visit her. They put concerts on their iPhone and have my mom watch them. We're getting a good deal because my aunt was also in there and she died like ten years ago, but she was in there for two years, and that's how we found out about it. It was so great for her. I'm just so thankful for them. They're good Christian people and they take into consideration other people's beliefs and they're excellent. I'm very pleased with them. My father who is 95 wants to go there, but we can't afford for two people to be there."

"We’ve been pleased at Abundant Care, but there’s not much to do as there are only 6 residents. They have a musician come in and play piano. They’re very nice people; they very good care of the residents. My husband has not had any negative comments about the food; he is satisfied. It’s a lovely facility, has a beautiful outdoor, and every room has its own bath and patio. It’s very nice. Each room has its own control for heating and cooling. It’s very well run, and I really don’t have any negative comments. Here we have like 1 or 2 caregivers for six patients. "

"We’ve been at Valle Verde for over four years. When people ask how we like it, our answer is “it’s the second best decision we ever made, second only to getting married 50 years ago.” The staff is superb - responsive, receptive, knowledgeable and friendly. The food is varied, with many choices. Yes, wine is available - by the glass or bottle. And many flavors of ice cream! Activities on campus are so numerous that it takes a multi-page weekly program to list them all! Off-campus activities (symphony, music academy, legitimate theater, etc.) are encouraged by Valle Verde’s busses going each way. Come check it out! I’ll bet you’ll want to join us. "We went to Samarkand. The staff, the food, and the care for the residents were good. The rooms were real nice. They had all kinds of activities. They had swimming, golf, and tennis, and they take people to concerts. They've got a pretty good program, but it's in a hard to get to type of location. The roads were kind of narrow, so it's a little dangerous getting in and out of that place."

"My mother spent almost a year here before she passed. The staff was great and very nice. The only thing that bothered me was after her passing are family did not get any kind of condolence from them. A simple card would have been a nice. I received condolences from the hospice care facility she was in for only 2 days. I guess its just a business to the owners. "

"Villa Riviera is older, but it’s very well taken care of. It has a really nice ambience. They have arts, trips, some gardening, and music. They have a nice great room where people can sit and visit. I was given a tour by the administrator. She’s an RN, and she is very friendly and very well versed. She knows her facility very well. "

"I've got some friends who live in Casa Dorinda. It's a very high-end, beautiful, but quite expensive place. That's the top-of-the-line, incredible food, and beautiful architecture. Everything about that place is excellent. The staff was very attentive, polite, and delightful. The food is excellent, and even their cappuccinos are good. I noticed they were having an exercise class, they had lots of activities, and took different buses to different places."

"I visited Aterdag and it's great. It's a nice place, and I liked the continuum of care. They have bus rides to places, they have cute little homes, nice little apartments, and a lot of the residents have use of a balcony."
