"Evergreen Place is very nice and well-equipped, it's in a beautiful area, and the rooms are really nice. The place was also equipped for people that are handicapped and the staff is always there to assist them. The food is fine, and our experience with the staff is very good; they have excellent staff members. They play cards and they have other activities for the residents. The facilities are very nice. It's only three-years-old, so the building is beautiful."

"We toured Charter Senior Living of Pekin. It's a wonderful place and extremely clean. There were several options as far as the available rooms and the different styles on different levels. The dining room and the cafeteria area were nice. The nursing staff there seemed extremely happy and willing to help out with anything that my mom needed. The staff gave us a thorough tour and answered any questions we had. She explained the financial end of it, what's expected of my mom, and what's not expected. She was very helpful."

"My mom is at Evergreen Place Assisted Living. They're very caring and easy to communicate with, and they provide lots of activities and opportunities for my mom. The staff is very informative and always contacts me right away if anything happens. And if I need them to do anything for my mom, they're very eager and willing to do that too, so it's a good place. She doesn't complain about the food, they bring it to her room when she needs it, or they'll help get her down if they need to. I think they're very expensive, but compared to other places, they're all way overpriced and that's just how it is. My mom doesn't go to many of the activities, but they offer good things for them. Like for Easter, the families can come in and eat for $5 per person, up to three people. They have live bunnies come in that residents could hold, they have music provided by Illinois State students come in, they play bingo, they have movie weekends and popcorn, and they have donuts every Friday. They also have meetings with the residents where they take their input and change things. Like when the residents asked for the doors to stay open longer, and so they changed that, and they also talked about the menus being placed in different places. After they have their meetings, they then type up letters and send that to all the residents. They're listening to their residents' needs and then taking their input and making things better."

"The Lodge at Manito was bright and clean. The lady who talked to me was very friendly and very informative. She gave me a lot of information about the facility and the kind of care that my mother could receive. I liked everything about it, except it was quite a distance to drive. I wanted something a little closer to home. The Lodge at Manito was so nice, and everybody was very friendly and informative. The staff even gave me the names of other places I could look at that were closer. The place was beautiful. I like everything about it. You walked in and you just felt comfortable."

"My sister has moved into Sugar Creek Alzheimer's Special Care Center. They are excellent. They have completed several assessments on her, and she visited with a doctor there and had her prescriptions fine-tuned. They've got her engaged, interacting with staff, and moving around the facility. She is getting a little more activity than she did in the previous location where she stayed. I've sat there with my sister while she had lunch a couple of times, and it seems to work pretty well for her. She likes it pretty much. People are not hiding in their rooms or self-isolating, they're out with their activities. They're moving around the facility or the outdoor patio area or their courtyard. They seem to have a good staff-to- resident ratio. Everybody seems to know my sister pretty well already, which is good. Every time I go in there, I don't have to look for the director of nursing or the activities coordinator. I just run into them, and we chat for a little bit. So, it's easy for me to get caught up on how my sister is doing and what challenges she's having. So that's been great, and it's 10 minutes from our house. We can stop out there any day for a few minutes or an hour or longer whenever we want. It's convenient. The staff have been very upfront and they're good communicators. They keep us apprised of where they are with her transition to their facility, the types of things and activities that they want her to participate in, and how they go about it. It's been really good. They seem to be very clean and well-organized. The building structure allows people to walk around the really wide halls. They can stroll inside the facility in a figure-eight pattern, which is maybe a quarter of a mile in total. They could get a good walk and just be inside doing that. They have nice seating areas and a nice activity room. It's not a old organization. Facility-wise, it's not brand new either, but it's well-kept. In comparison to where she was residing before, this place is so much better, and it is more expensive, but it certainly seems to be worth it."

"My sister will be moving into Holiday Blair House. It was very clean, the people were friendly, and the food on the menu sounded wonderful. The room size was fine, but not as big as I would like."

"The hallways at Country Comfort Henry were small. The rooms were also a little small, but not bad. The help might be really good workers, but they got tattoos and that kind of stuff. Overall, it looks nice. It's just the spaciousness that would be the difference. There were three residents in the front room and that room was small, kind of tightly compacted. There was another room where they had a big screen TV and there were three people in there. Of course, it's a small facility, so it was kind of a tight situation there, but it was clean. They just updated their kitchen cabinets. They were just waiting for a carpenter to actually show up and do the finishing work around there. For my appointment, they made sure we were going to be there at 2:00 and I got a bunch of texts and phone calls about it. We got there about 15 minutes before the 2:00 appointment, but the lady that was going to give the tour didn't show up until about 5 or 10 minutes after 2:00."

"So far, I'm really pleased with Reflections Memory Care - Washington. My wife has been there for a little while and I have no complaints at all. It's an awesome place with awesome people. I talk to their staff every day. Everything is top shelf and right now I have zero complaints. I chose this community because they had a room available and because we know people who live there. It looks like a hotel and not like an assisted living center or nursing home. It has wide aisles and wide hallways. Everything is good."

"My tour at Supportive Living of Washington was good, but they have a waiting list at the moment. The people looked very happy. All the areas were very clean. I was quite impressed. I liked the bathroom situation, the fact that it was not a tub with a shower, it was an actual shower. You could walk in and not have to worry about tripping, which is important to us old people. They have a beauty salon. They showed the mailboxes and the outgoing mail slot, and that's important to communicate with people. They had some rooms where there was seating and TV, like if you want to have a movie night. The laundry area was closed. I was impressed with the cleanliness. There were residents that you could see, and they looked happy, and that's important. The staff during the tour was very kind and explained everything."

"We chose Washington Christian Village for my aunt because of the location and cost. It meets the needs and it's where we needed to be both cost wise and proximity to where all the family live. During Covid, they are offering meals in the dining room once a week and the rest of the week, the residents are eating in their rooms. They offer transportation to appointments, beauty shop, and activities. Everything is scaled back because of Covid. The cleaning, nursing, bathing, and dressing assistance were included in the price, instead of it being additional cost. She hasn't moved in yet, so from a residential standpoint, I don't know about that. The staff was very informational and very accommodating."

"I took my mother to Washington Villas of Hollybrook to tour it and she liked it the best. It had the fifties diner and that was one thing different that was added. Plus they had two ponds there so mom could fish or relatives of hers could come there and go fishing. The director and everybody was very friendly. Everybody we walked by, greeted you every time, even if it was just a hello or a compliment or something like that. They just don't walk past you and ignore you. So, it's not like walking down a street."

"Villas of Holly Brook and Reflections East Peoria was the first facility I went to. I think the location was out by Illinois Central College and everything worked out well with the tour, and that's the reason why I ended up visiting the other Villas of Holly Brook locations. They're all very friendly and very welcoming. I didn't make any appointments for my visit. We kind of showed up during working hours during the week and asked if we could go look at the apartments and they made time to visit with us and take us around. They got someone to take a tour within 15 minutes. They showed me everything. They have one-bedrooms and two-bedrooms. We walked around and they showed me the spa, the theater, the library, and the community room. They have two courts. One has a fireside court on one side of the building and on the other side was a garden court for flowers and things like that. So, the residents can go right into those court areas. Right adjacent to the court, you have doorways into them so the residents have two entrances into the court."
