My mom is at Caring Hearts Assisted Living. It's really a nice little community, and having just 15 people in there, she will get better care than she did in California. It's small and it's more one-on-one. They have a kitchen where they cook fresh food every day. The people are really nice, and so I hope to have a good rapport with them. My mom has a bed, a dresser, and everything, but she is a size down. She is 94 years old, and she doesn't need what she had before. They include the meals, they do laundry, and the doctors come to the building. She doesn't have to go out for anything unless I take her out. The rooms are really nice. They're clean and beautiful. She has a view of the valley, and when it snows up there, she is going to be really excited. Everybody is really nice, like the med tech, the person that owns the place, and the people who do the laundry, and I met most of them. They were giving her pasta and rice, and the food looked really good. The place is extremely clean. They have four televisions. If you're cold, you can sit in the back when the sun comes up. You can have a blanket with you and watch TV in the living room. Where you eat, there's a TV, too. There are a lot of good things about it. They have all kinds of activities. They were decorating cupcakes when I was there the last time. Mom went down there and stayed for the length of time, and they made the cupcakes. They have other activities. Everybody participates. There's no arguing, no fighting, or anything like that. It's a nice, quiet community, and I think my mother is going to be happy that she is there.

Looking for the right assisted living facility for my Mom was extremely stressful and challenging. I was worried about how she would be treated by staff and residences, what the facility accommodations would be like and what the expenses per month would be given her advanced diagnosis for dementia. I am so grateful I was able to find Caring Hearts Assisted living in Pocatello, Idaho. From the moment I met with the staff and subsequently toured the facility I knew this was the place for my Mom. During her short tenure their, she was treated lovingly, with a great deal of patience exhibited by the staff and with an attitude of dignity and respect for her as a person. Angie and her staff are Angels. They try to make their residence comfortable and do an excellent job of keeping family informed. My Mom was 95 and lasted only a few months at the facility before she passed. Caring Hearts sent flowers for the viewing and actually had staff that came to support family. I highly recommend Caring Hearts for anyone who is looking for a safe, caring facility that supports and loves their residents.

My dad was at Caring Hearts Assisted Living for nine months, and there was no heat on his side of the building that whole time. The food was mostly sandwiches. The facility smelled of urine all the time. The room was very small. They never shampooed the carpet like they told me. The bathroom was small. They had an activity board up which has a wonderful line up of things to do, but they never did any of them. The staff was really nice, but they have to follow what the administrator told them to do. As for the food, instead of buying branded products, they would buy the cheapest they could. They should follow through what they promised.
