My father was in the memory center at Ashley Manor. I liked the staff very much. The place was very clean and didn't have an odor. It's a house that had 13 beds in the middle of a nice subdivision. They prepared their food for them and had activities and a nice fenced-in backyard where clients could go outside. One of the clients was interested in gardening so they provided him a raised bed and some plants and vegetables for him to grow. It was a nice facility. My dad had a lovely room with a comfortable bed, a bureau, and a lift chair. It also had another chair for visitors and a closet. It was light, bright and had two windows. We felt the security for the patients was poor. What they did was each patient had a buzzer that they wear around their necks, so if they needed help, they could push the buzzer, but my dad wouldn't wear his. There was also a monitor in the room, so if my dad moved out of the bed and close to the window, it would go off, but there was another smaller window which was behind a very heavy chair. Nobody thought he'd go out of that window but he did, and the monitor did not pick that up. The food looked like a lot of it was canned vegetables chopped up. My mom felt that the place was understaffed. If one person called out for some reason, then there was only one person there to take care of 13 people. However, the staff was very caring, loving, and nice.
