I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My father was in PruittHealth - Virginia Park. It was nice when you walked in, and the staff was really nice. The rooms needed painting, though, and they were very small. I didn't like that. I didn't see any food, and I don't remember even seeing if they had a cafeteria, although they probably did. The way the place was set up is that it's a square. The rehab place that I saw was very small. I don't know if they did activities, but if you were in a wheelchair, you could roll around, and you would be able to go out and sit out in front of the facility, and that was okay. He had gone to the hospital for a while, then they found him this rehab place. He was there for 30 days. He had the surgery and everything, and then because he didn't want to pay a copay, I had to fly out and be his CNA, chef, and all that. They didn't do 100 days. They only did 21 days or something, and then they started saying that he needed to start paying.

too many problems to start...bad care, patients dont get medicine on time, no one greeted my family when we first admitted, nurses seem like they dont have a clue. some of the staff, whenever they can be found in the evenings and weekends, seem rude and dont want to be bothered. last resort

On Monday June 16, the air conditioning stopped at 3pm and hasn't been repaired as of five hours (its now 8pm). The patients are suffering.

Beware of this place. Do your research if you have to decide on a nursing home for your loved one. I had to make a quick decision on where to send my mother after her stroke for rehab when no beds were available at the places I would have chosen first. My mother's condition declined rapidly during her short stay at this facility and I know it was because of her lack of care. Complaints went unaddressed and my mother ended up in the hospital after a 2 week stay. I was appalled at what I had seen there. I wouldn't want anyone else to go through what my mother went through there. Please look at ratings before considering this facility...unfortunately the most recent rating occurred during my mother's stay and if I had known the conditions were that bad beforehand, I would have chose somewhere with a higher rating.

This place is a nightmare. It is filthy and has roaches. No one responds to the nurse call button or alarms. Medication is skipped or given late. No follow up on tests or additional treatment. Avoid this hell hole if possible.

In my experience the staff here was very warm and inviting. They all seemed to have close and personal bonds with the residents. During my mother's stay there she seemed to have bonded well with several of the staff. The only downfall of the facility is the smell of urine as you travel down the halls if there was any way to help with that, that would be my only negative. If i ever felt there was a problem i felt comfort in knowing i could speak with someone and i would be addressed immediately. I felt very secure with my mother staying there. I felt as if there was a sense of family there and she was not alone.I must say that overall i would say this is a very nice and welcoming facility.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

My family and I had to decide where to take my grandfather when my grandmother passed. We looked all around and visited many. Briarcliff Health Care is a nursing and health care home that we visited in the hopes of it being the one. Sadly when we arrived there we found that it was in fact not going to be the one. When we first arrived the parking area and the outside of the home and facilities nearby were all clean, and well lit. Throughout the entire facility we noticed that it was all very clean and well taken care of. We made sure to check ceilings and walls for mold and other things that may be growing, (We visited a home previously that was filled with mold, and one that had a plant growing through the wall). The neatness and how clean the home is was a major plus for us. We made sure to check everything, down to the food being served. We in all honesty had no desire to drop my grandfather off on a home, but with me joining the Air Force and my brother leaving for college there was no options. Well we had checked the eating area; it was well maintained and well organized. The food however left a lot to be desired. In the easiest way to put it, it was plain and just down right disgusting. The food was calendared and never varied per week. We desired to taste test the food before leaving. It was as bad as it looked. The pasta was dry and the bread was near stale. So far we have a plus and a minus, not good but not horrid. As we left the cafeteria and entered into the lodging area, we were taken aback. All the neatness and organization that was kept in the outer areas of the home was defiantly not found here. The rooms were a pig sty something you would expect to see in a children's room. We asked around to the nurses and the people staying at the home to find out why they were messy. We got two answers one from each party. Of course as you could expect the nurses and care staff would say it was there fault they would throw things around and mess up their room in protest. I will use one example of what an elderly patient said to me, this woman was eighty nine years old and was in a wheelchair. She could not have been more than ninety pounds. She had told me that they only cleaned the rooms once a month, often times skipping a month, or skipping certain rooms if the patients were not as responsive as the staff desired. I could not see this frail fragile ninety year old woman tearing up the room in protest. That was a huge minus for me I actually counted that as ten. I turned around and walked out of the room and the home in all. There was no way at home I was going to let my grandfather stay in a home where the staff couldn't even take time to clean the rooms. I was disgusted by that lack of care. I don't see how or why anyone would let someone they love stay there. My recommendation would be to stay as far away from this establishment as possible.
