Assisted Living Reviews for Cedar Creek Assisted Living

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mother lives at Cedar Creek. She is happier, healthier and more engaged than she was living at home on her own. She has a nice apartment that we painted and decorated to resemble her long time home. The nurses and cna's are friendly, caring and very helpful. The dining room staff knows her food preferences and try their best to please her finicky palate . The administrator is simply wonderful. She knows each resident by name and obviously cares a great deal about everyone. The staff is engaged and highly professional. The recent hurricane in Florida prompted the evacuation of all of Merritt Island. Cedar Creek handled the complexity of the situation well. Some residents evacuated with the center, some went with family, and a few were in the hospital. Cedar Creek kept families updated and comfortable with the safety of their loved ones. I was visiting with and resettling my mother as many of the other residents returned. I witnessed many hugs and exclamations of joy as each resident was welcomed home.. I could not be happier with my mother's living arrangements. I would love for my mother in law to move to Cedar Creek as well!

I visited this facility

We have chosen Cedar Creek for my mother. It is a mid-size assisted living facility. They were very personal with people. It was an open door facility so you could come and go. It had 4 levels of care. The residents seemed very happy with it. They had exercise program everyday. They had several places in the community. It had a nice library. They brought in entertainment for them. They had a nice dining room.

Cedar Creek changed hands, but my mother-in-law was there. It starts out as an assisted living and then moves up in levels as needed. They also have a memory care center. She went from assisted living to hospice at the same facility. She had care every day and had a colostomy that needed to be changed a couple of times a week. They took her out, they sat her outside; they put her in different environments. She had to be hand-fed every meal because she couldn?t use her arms and legs. She was a falling risk. Eventually she was just in a wheelchair, and two people assisted. That?s why she moved up the ladder, because she became more and more unfamiliar with people. The upkeep and maintenance presents very well. They?re hospitable. It was a closed in facility. In other words, it was a large, single building, like an apartment building, where each person had a little apartment. In this place, you could walk in and the residents would be sitting out on the front porch or in a game room, so they would greet you and talk to you. The residents looked happy. Somebody would come in and take the residents and do their hair. I know they took trips out to the community and fieldtrips. It was a clean, attractive place. It?s visually very appealing. They had a nice, screened-in, glassed-in, like floor to room patio. It had patio furniture in it and live plants. Then, outside, there was another patio that kind of had a little bit of garden around it. My husband was very happy with the service his mother got there from day to day, but he said there were issues sometimes. I think that he was referring to some of the staff being more experienced and better with the patients than the others. We had kind of a mini family reunion at Cedar Creek while she was still there. It really was one of our best days.

I am a friend or relative of resident

The nurse to patient ratio seemed out of the norm. During my visits it was common to only see 1 or 2 CNAs on the floor helping the residents. With the number of residents at this facility it was obvious the residents were not getting the appropriate attention or response to calls for assistance. Wouldn't take my family to this facility.

I am so very happy that I placed my Mother here. We really searched Brevard County for an ALF that felt like home. The nursing staff is always helpful and greet me everytime they see my family and I visit the facility. The new activities director is a jewel. That has been a huge improvement for Cedar Creek. She really is a breath of fresh air for all of the residents. Keep up the work Cedar Creek.

I visited this facility

This place is not what it seems, Looks can be very deceiving here. It is a nice facility, but all the activities and services they tell you about while their trying to sell you the ALF life for your parents and grand parents is a lie. The residents just mope around all day, no interesting activities to keep them active, the Alzheimer and dementia residents are mixed in together with the normal functioning residents. The hands on care staff has no former training in healthcare, if an emergency arises, what can they do? Please think twice before you leave your parents and grandparents in a place like this. it looks good for presentation, and the sales people talk a good game, but just make frequent visits to see what is actually going on.
