I went to River Commons Senior Living for a tour. When you do the tour, they actually treat you to lunch, which is the biggest meal of the day, and the food was excellent. The people who served you were top-notch. It was very clean and very accommodating. There were a few reading sections throughout the campus. They had a room for crafts and another one for puzzles. They had a little library that you could read in. They had laundry facilities. Right after they had eaten their big meal, they had music, entertainment, and karaoke. They had all the bells and whistles. They even had their community garden, and I thought that was really special. They also had transportation if they needed to go to the doctor or the grocery store or what-have-you. The staff members were extremely professional, hospitable, warm, inviting, very thorough, and very welcoming. If I had the money to go there, that was definitely where I would go.

I am staying in the independent living community of River Commons Senior Living. The upkeep is pretty good, but you can tell that the corporation isn't particularly interested in this site. We have chairs in the dining room that you can't sit on because you'd almost hit the floor. The staff is really helpful, but it's also very cliquish, for one thing. The other thing is, they have some really strange rules. The head of the office and some of them, I don't find them particularly compassionate or empathetic to people's needs or wants. That's just my feelings. It really depends on what department they are in. The staff is really good. The only problem is some of the upper echelon ones. The food used to be pretty good, but it seems to be deteriorating. The dining room is okay, but they need new chairs. They also have trouble keeping staff numbers. Other than that, it is adequate. Everybody loves bingo, and they play that twice a week. There used to be a lot of outings. We used to go out to lunch at least once a month, and we'd take day trips out to Shasta Lake and things like that, but that has deteriorated, too. It's almost non-existent now. They need to loosen up a little and listen to what the clients are saying as to what they want and what they need, because they just don't. They have some silly rules, too. For instance, I am Jewish, and on Friday nights I have always lit my Sabbath candles. I can't do that here. They won't allow that in my room, and I don't understand that. It's a religious thing. I'm not going to set the house on fire or leave the candles burning improperly or dangerously. They're very rigid, and they're very conservative in their approaches to everything. I think the corporation needs to spend some more time up here.

River Commons Senior Living is great. I just got back from dinner, where we had French dip sandwiches, vegetables, and dessert. I like it here. Everyone is friendly and helpful. If you have a problem, you can ask somebody, and they'll do their best to help you. I'm happy I picked this place. The staff is great. Everyone looks out for everybody else. I had a tray that was a little heavy for me to carry, and then a guy who was right there said, 'Here, let me take it to your table.' They are very compassionate people. The apartments are spotless. I'm in a one-bedroom. I got two large closets, which are helpful. I don't have an oven and that sort of thing. If you want to retire and you don't want to cook, you don't want to clean, and you want nice people around you, this is the place to be. They have a library, a game room, a poker room, and a place where they play cards. I've only played one game, but I'm going to play some more. There are walking paths and a garden, too. I'm on the second floor. I was told it was the best floor. On the third floor, you would get the summer heat beaming down on the roof, and the first floor is a bit more active. We have AC, so heat shouldn't be a problem. I would prefer to have either a patio or a deck if I could afford the extra, but I have nice big windows. The food is good. The dining area opens up at 7, 12, and 4. I'm not used to eating at regular times. You could take a lot of food to your apartment, and you just have to remember to bring a container for it. My kids think it's really good. They have a heater in the living room and in the bedroom, so you're warm or cool or whatever you want to be. I think the value for money is great for independent living. All retirement places are expensive, but this is one of the better ones.

My mom has moved into River Commons Senior Living. She actually picked it. She felt very comfortable there when we had lunch and a tour there. The people that live there came up to her, they were talking to her, and they made her feel really comfortable. Also, she liked the room because it was larger. It had a huge closet and a very nice balcony that was very large. I've come to know a couple of the staff, and they're very nice and very helpful. They have a minimal number of activities though. They have some activities, but there's kind of a minimal number.

I toured River Commons Senior Living. Everyone seemed very pleased to be there. They were usually pleased with the food, and lots and lots of activities. Very, very well kept up. Everyone that I have met has been very courteous, and interested. My friends seem to be usually pleased with the food. They have a great library, cards, outside visitors, and music.

River Commons Senior Living was a very nice facility, but it's a little dated. Overall, it's very clean and well-maintained. The apartments were excellent. The person who toured us was very pleasant, very nice, very accommodating, and very knowledgeable. The menu looked very good. We saw residents playing cards, and they seemed to be very happy.

I've chosen River Commons Senior Living, and I'll be moving in a week and a half. It's very nice, it's on par with most of the nice ones. Someone comes in once a week and changes the sheets. I saw them playing bingo, they had cards and movies.

I am living in River Commons Senior Living. I find it very friendly, it's beautiful, clean, and I can't think of anything they can improve right now. It's just very nice. There's all kinds of crafts, card games, and anything you want to do really. It always looks beautiful. The people working there are wonderful, they're so friendly, and anything they can do for you, they do. They're just great.

River Commons was very nice and close to my price range, but all I could afford was a large studio. They had small and large studios, and a one-bedroom.

River Oaks Retirement Community's location is very convenient, and the grounds especially behind it have green grass, trees, little sitting areas. The place was clean as a whistle. It's a little bit more upscale-looking. The people were really nice, and the price was very good. It's the least expensive, and I like it the best. I thought it was very good, and I would recommend it.

My parents are at River Oaks. They have a beautiful garden and dining room. Everybody is very nice, helpful, and cool. There was nothing really bad about the place.

River Oaks Retirement Community was nice, though a lot darker than in the other facilities, but it was fine. The staff was OK. They offer a fair amount of activities. The food was great and served buffet-style.

I was met by the managers at River Oaks and were shown around. They had a 2-bedroom apartment which was almost 1000 sq. ft. Two could live there comfortably. I didn't take part in many activities but there were lots available. The work attitude of the staff was very good.
