I visited this facility

The thing I like best about Villa Redondo Assisted Living is that it's a great location. The thing I liked the least about it is that the building seemed run down, and it needed a lot of renovation. The people were nice, but the building seemed old and rundown, and it didn't feel clean. That was the facility I was hoping to take my mom to. It had the best location for me. It's only three-quarters of a mile from my house and it's right by the ocean, so it had the best location, but the building was just really in poor shape. It's an old building but if they renovate it and make it nice, it would be great. The staff was nice though.

Villa Redondo Assisted Living was very accommodating, just the care that they provided wasn't what we were exactly looking for, but it was a wonderful residence. We had an excellent experience. It was very helpful. The lady during the tour had lots of knowledge. She took us around and showed us all the facilities and made us feel very comfortable. If my father-in-law needed that level of care, we would 100% feel comfortable leaving him in their care. The facility was just a little bit old.

Villa Redondo Assisted Living was the one that we considered the strongest because it was in the right place. It was conveniently located for the family. They said they mostly did assisted living. They did have some people who needed more service than that. I thought the person who gave me the tour was a little bit overworked. There was a lot of need for her attention. It seemed like she was doing the job of more than one person. One thing I noticed was they had on the front of the building a 'help wanted' sign. The positions listed on the sign were just about every position that you would have in a nursing home, like cooks, housekeeping, caregivers, and things like that. I had the impression before I even went in that they were probably short staffed. The rooms were nice. They were a little bit dated. My dad was going to have to bring some of his own things. If he wanted a microwave and a television, he would have to bring those, which is fine. I was a little bit surprised by that though. The rooms were kind of bare with nothing in them. It looked kind of stripped down. They had a decent dresser, and they were fairly roomy. You could have two or three guests in them and not feel squished. There were some people hanging out drinking coffee in the dining area, and I thought that was kind of nice. It was a nice large facility. It looked like things were kept clean. However, I noticed when we had finished the tour and gone back to the office (because the staff had been acting as a receptionist) that there were two residents waiting. Of course, the staff dealt with me first and gave me some literature to take with me. Those two residents had to wait about 10 minutes before she had time to speak with them. It was OK because they were both in their wheelchairs. It wasn't like they were standing where it might not be comfortable for them. It just kind of reinforced the fact that they probably needed two people to work in the reception area because it's a big place with a lot going on. There were a lot of people there. It was also midday, so everybody was up and wheeling around. I saw more people in wheelchairs than walking, which I thought was a good sign for my dad because he doesn't walk. The grounds and the outside were very nice and clean, which you don't always get when you're looking at nursing homes. They had a good amount of parking.

I visited this facility

Villa Redondo Assisted Living was not expecting us when we got there, but the woman who gave us the tour was really terrific. She was very enthusiastic about what they did there. My takeaway was that it was a great place for someone who does not have a spouse to grow old with. A lot of the rooms were shared, which wasn't a good fit for us. They had a private room, but it was just a room with a small kitchen. You could not really make it your own in any sense. It was almost like a hospital room, but a little bit nicer. There was one courtyard, and the residents could sit outside. They had a lot of activities like games, decorating, and making paper flowers. The place smelled bad. It was dark and dingy. It looked like an older building, and it certainly is not the place I would want to put my loved one in.

I am/was a resident of this facility

They never give meds on time and are always shooting the breeze with instead of caring for the residents. Staff is not enough and those who do work here are not qualified

My mom is at Villa Redondo. The rooms are nice. It really is a nice place. I can’t say more about the staff. I love them so much. They’re like family. There are lots of activities. Every time I go there, my mom is doing something. If it is not exercise, it’s bingo, karaoke, or walking because they’re two blocks from the ocean. It is just a lovely place. The food could be a little better, but it is not bad. Their dining area is really pretty. The dining room has a view. You can sit and look outside while you’re dining.

Villa Redondo was the last assisted living facility my mom was at. This facility was amazing, and the staff are very, very nice.
