Assisted Living Communities in Desert Hot Springs, CA

"I toured Brookdale Mirage Inn. The sales person that we had, Jennifer, was excellent. She was very knowledgeable, very honest, and helpful. The facility itself is beautiful and clean. It's a very nice facility. It's very clean, well-maintained, and updated. Nothing worn out about it. They have a lot more services than most of the places that I have been to as far as helping with grooming and medication given (except for insulin). They have a lot of activities going on. They have a movie theater, a beauty shop, a gym, a pool, and a library."

"I've seen Segovia at Palm Desert and it was very nice. I was visiting my great uncle there, and it's really a fabulous place. He was in the assisted living unit, and the place was literally like a country club. The food was excellent. I've had meals there several times. It was almost like going to a very nice restaurant. It was very, very close to that. They had a workout facility, a series of mailboxes inside (so that you didn't have to go out front to get your mail), on-call services for anything that you needed or wanted, movie nights, and events going on all the time. They also had a private room where you could have individual parties and a bar area that wasn't open all the time, but it could be open for different events. They had the best staff I've ever seen. They were like people in a hotel. If I came in to visit my great uncle, there was a process where I would have to sign in. They would give him a call and say that someone was here, just to make sure there's no stranger wandering and asking for somebody. I just liked everything about it. It's the gold standard."

"Atria Hacienda was great. However, as a senior without assisted living, the two-bedroom-two-bath was around $9,000 a month. We had lunch there, and everything was very impressive. We met a bunch of people living there, and it was great. It was an apartment-type living. They had the same amenities as the other place. They had a nice dining room, a swimming pool, and a nice courtyard."

"I visited The Carlotta. I toured the main building with the apartments and then found out they had cottages. I looked at them, and there were several under renovation. Kathy was the gal I spoke with, and she called to see if I wanted to see the other cottages. They were under renovation, but she had permission to take me over, and we could see them, so I went ahead. They invited me to their gathering, a luncheon-type thing, and it was wonderful. The food and service were outstanding. Everybody was nice. So, I have nothing but good things to say about them. I am just not ready right now. Everything was clean, and it smelled nice. They have a library and a swimming pool. They have a cafe, which is open throughout the day for breakfast, snacks, or lunch. And you can get tickets to go there instead of money, pay with tickets. They have a gym, and somebody who comes in once or twice a week. They have classes. They have an auditorium, so I guess some speakers come in, a game room, and a nice outside living area, too. They have a little central park within, maybe a square of homes or apartments to sit out. They're also affiliated with a medical group. There's some way that if it comes to a time that you need memory care, it's a very easy transition. It's still on the property, and there's space there. Or at the beginning of any illness or anything, they will service you in your home or apartment as long as that's not long-term. They can come and take care of you or have surgery that'll heal. You don't have to move or anything. They will be there to help bring you food and whatever you need. Their staff is more than helpful. They're just wonderful. We walked in and didn't know where to go, and we were escorted and chatted all the way. Everything is under control there, and immaculately clean. The food was outstanding. It was mostly all appetizers, but they were wonderful, and the desserts were great. They were all baked by their own staff, and a cook. So, it was really yummy, and served very nicely."

"This is a lovely facility. The staff is very caring and seem to know all their tenants. They have very good food and the director is very nice."

"I went to look at The Palms at La Quinta, and they were welcoming. There was a little chalkboard there saying, "Welcome." The receptionist who I spoke to was very kind, and she understood. The memory care is on the first floor but they do have two floors. And then she showed me what areas they have for the family to meet and move around. They answered all my questions. It was very nice. They gave me some freshly baked cookies, and I saw their menu. They have a chef who meets with the residents to discuss the menu and see if they like the menu. They can change the menus to whatever diet meets my mother's needs. The rooms are very clean. The whole place is very clean. You can have a private room or a shared room. They share a bathroom but not the rooms."

"We toured The Lakes. It was extremely clean and updated, and the residents seemed happy. The staff was very knowledgeable and also sympathetic to the situation."

"We're very happy with Erwin Lake, and my father has been there since early December. He is bedridden at this point, so there is not an awful lot that he can do as far as external activities. He hasn't complained about the food, the people there take care of him very well, and his room is very nice. All indications are that he is happy there. My mother and father had been there before, and it turned out we were familiar with it. I would recommend them. They've been very helpful. "

"I've been in Hacienda Senior Living Assisted Living & Memory Care a little over a year. I'm in assisted living. I take care of myself. They just give me my medication, feed me, and shower me, and that's it. It's very good. I love it here. It's not like some of the other ones that are real big. This is smaller and you get more care. I have my own room. They have a fountain outside the grounds and they have fruit trees here. They take good care of you. They're really nice. I really like them all. It's excellent food. They give you so much food. We don't have a lot of activities. They're in the process of hiring somebody to come in here and do activities with us. There's another section where people need more help, have Alzheimer's, and stuff like that. The people where I'm at can take care of themselves, and there are only about five of us in this area. Value for money is OK."

"We visited Mountain View Manor together with my husband. We we're amazed with the people and staff. They all look really happy and it seems they are enjoying their stay in a wonderful and beautiful facility. It was a great visit! They have a very nice view from a really eye catching beautiful mountains. The staff are really accommodating, warm, and friendly. They toured us to almost every single corner of the facility. I will recommend this facility to others. "

"My mom has moved into Starlight Senior Living. It was a smooth transition. I went up there and met the lady who runs it. They were bringing in all the equipment my mom needed. My mom likes it; all that makes me happy is if she's happy. So far, it's working well. The staff were very helpful and very nice. The food is included. There's plenty of room for my mom, and she has her freedom. It's just a house, so there's really no amenities. When I've been there, they're at the table, eating and watching TV. It's lived up to our expectations so far."

"A+ Senior Care at Mission Lakes has provided a safe, comfortable environment for my brother, and they seem to be doing a good job. He moved in last July. In general, the staff is responsive in providing information, but sometimes I have to dig it out of them. Things happen that I'm not always notified. The place is a nice house."

"My husband stayed at Summer House. It was the best facility I have ever gone to. It is clean, caring, loving, and very good. If I have to go to a facility, it's where I want to go. It was absolutely first class. The food is clean, fresh, and cooked every day. They're very caring, loving people. They walked my husband, talked to him an awful lot, and adopted him into their family."

"Well maintained home with one large room my parents shared with a private bathroom. Caring, well-trained staff who were attentive and good cooks. Parents exercised and played cards with other residents. Cheerful staff attended to all of their needs day and night. They were in their late 90's so they became bed-ridden and needed constant care. They were both happy to be there and their family felt very comfortable having them there. After 11 years at a large retirement facility, they moved here for more personal constant care at a more affordable cost. It was their request to be in a more personal atmosphere than in a skilled nursing facility. The both had peaceful passings which made it the best situation possible for the entire family. "
