"Emerald Court was very nice. It has easy access because they have two elevators. We had lunch there, and it was too much for us. They showed us an apartment and told us about all the activities they have -- such as bridge, all kinds of card games, karaoke once in awhile, and craft games. I was so impressed with this facility. When we are ready to move into a senior facility, we will be moving here. "

"As a resident of two years,and a highly educated person, I am fully disappointed in how this administration is as phoney as I have ever experienced. I also find them wholly unqualified to deal with residents, problems, outcomes. There is no follow through or any explanations as to why not. The lack of conscious thinking or acting is appalling. This is no place I would ever send a loved one. "

"I toured this facility with my mother and found it to be very inviting! It's a newer facility and the rooms are beautiful/clean. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. My mother really liked that the rooms had full kitchens and washer/dryers as her independence is important to her. The location and activities provided were awesome! "My mom is in the memory care unit. She moved in two months ago. She’s being taken care of. There are some of the bumps in the road but all in all, it’s been a good place. She is in a shared room because she’s in the memory care wing. They’ve been very helpful and supportive. It seemed that they have a fair amount of stuff going on. I think they really do a good job."

"My dad and my sister were residents of Artesia Christian Home. The facility is spotless. They've got a good, great staff, and they're very accommodating. They had maybe a small bump in the road every once in a while, but other than that, things were fine. Their staff was excellent. They're very friendly. They're very quick to help in critical situations. We're just really pleased with them. They loved the food. The kitchen staff was excellent, too. They put on quality products. They've got a little open area of patios. If you want to meet your family there, they have a nice place for you to meet. They also have little meeting areas throughout the home. There's a nice, quiet neighborhood around there. So if you want to take a walk around the block, you can. My father used to do that quite regularly and he enjoyed it. They have Bible studies there. They have group activities. They bring people in throughout the month as far as there might be a Bible teacher who comes in, maybe motivational people. They do little exercise classes. They keep the residents busy. This is the thing about it. The folks were bathed. They're washed. They're dressed and they're ready at a time in the morning when they're serving breakfast. So, everybody comes out there, they're dressed, they're clean, and that's how they start your day. They got the staff doting over them for the rest of the day. They've got a little aviary. It's a big bird cage and they keep that very active. I love the variety of the little birds that they put in there. They have a little garden area if you want to grow some tomatoes or put something like that."

"My mother-in-law moved to Brookdale Valley View. They seemed caring. The reason she picked it was that they could take her cat. They allow small pets. That's one of the big reasons she took it, out of all the ones we looked at. The staff was great. The chefs, the cooks, they're all very good. They're very helpful. Whenever we've asked them to help her with certain things, they do it right away. They had a guy that did maintenance. We had something that was broken, and he came in to fix it quickly. The nurse is nice there. They call us if there's a concern. They seemed pretty attentive. They have a lot available. They have a library, and they have a rec room for them. There's a patio outside that you can go to. The dining area is nice. They keep her room pretty clean. They come once a week and clean, and they do her laundry. The facility itself is pretty nice. She's got a nice room upstairs. It's small. I ate with my mother-in-law a couple of different meals. They allow friends and family to come and eat. They offer them a choice of food they can choose from, breakfast is like whatever you want. You can have anything from pancakes to cereal or oatmeal, whatever you want you just get it. But for lunch and dinner, they have a set menu of two items to choose from, two dinners or two lunches. Sandwiches are always available if you don't want one of the meals or cooking, but the food is really good. My mother-in-law gained some weight since she's been there. She's not mobile, so they take her down for all the meals. They do cards and bingo. There's a choir music church kind of a thing that she goes to. She's a Christian, so she loves to go down and participate in that. They have crafts. They have jewelry making and things like that. She hasn't participated in a lot of the other things. She has friends that come play cards with her, and they do that in the rec room down there. They take them to places that they want to go and shop."

"Mother has been in here since the middle of September. I have a good feeling about it. The staff is very friendly and outgoing, and they call me all the time to let me know how things are going. It's close to my home, and Mother loves the food. "

"Rowntree Gardens meets the needs that we are looking for my dad. The staff understands what entails to care for a memory care resident. My dad is in a shared room. It is adequate, and it meets his needs. He likes the food. They have activities like music and arts & crafts. Their communication skills stand out. "

"I toured Beach Terrace Assisted Living & Memory Care. It was bright with lots of natural sunlight. The interior, the way it was decorated was beautiful. The common space was huge. It just feels so welcoming. I saw the menu and it looked like a menu at a restaurant. What was on the menu was pretty interesting, like salmon, asparagus, squash, and stuff like that. I saw a shared room. It was nice. I like the semi-private room, and the room on each side was huge. You can really put a six-seating dining room table and a full-size bed. The shared bathroom was in between and they had doors from each side of the room for the bathroom. They had a big picture window. The staff was so gracious. He was so informative. The tour was guided by the guy who worked there, but the guy that I already had was the one who took me. He was the one who was already familiar with the place, and between what I heard and what I saw, I was more impressed with Beach Terrace."

"Oakmont of Fullerton was very nice. It's a brand new place, it was just big. There's nothing bad about that place. It's gorgeous. It's beautiful. It just opened up I think in March. They had a secure place for Alzheimer's and they had activities and things to do. These places were all the same price-wise and everything. They had music. They all had the same type of activities. There's only so much they can do. They had a little garden. You could live there yourself if you had enough money to live in an apartment."

"We visited Walnut Village. We’re moving in there in two weeks. It suited us well in all respects. We are moving into a 1,400-square-foot apartment, and it is a perfect size and the way it’s arranged is going to work well for us. They have an indoor swimming pool and fitness center, which we will try, and an art room that I have my eyes on. There are a lot of activities that are ongoing that I think we will enjoy. The dining room and coffee shop are nice. I have a full kitchen in my apartment. The staff members are very helpful, very warm, and friendly and welcomed us. It's just very comfortable. "

"The visit I had here was nice. The facility itself was nice too. I just wanted something more spacious and maybe with more activities. They were more for people who do not get around as much, maybe with a wheelchair or walker. I just thought that I'm not there yet. Other people might need that, it's just not for me. The person who toured us did a good job though. They have a center patio with pretty flowers and a place to sit out there."
