"I was impressed with Morningside of Bellgrade. The facility was very clean, and they had a locked unit so it was safe. The staff were very friendly, and they seemed to be very busy with the people and have activities for them to do, and so this facility would definitely be an option. They had music going on. They have crafts to do too. They also had stations set up throughout the unit where patients could go and sit down and work on things. There seemed to be a lot of activities available. "

"The Harmony Collection at Hanover was absolutely wonderful. When you first walk in, the decor of the common areas and all the other little amenities within the building are done so nicely. I looked at a few of the units, and they were very well thought out. They had roll-in showers, and I use a wheelchair periodically. They had counters that you could also roll your wheelchair up to in the bathroom. The units were well built with beautiful architectural features. They offered a lot of amenities where you could go down and get one meal a day as part of your monthly cost. They had outings, too. They had physical therapy and nursing on-site. They even had a happy hour on Fridays for an hour or something, so you can go down there and socialize. I really would have loved to go there. I'd be there in a split second. The person who gave the tour was absolutely wonderful. She is the director of both the independent living and the memory care, which is another building of its own."

"I toured Harmony at Hanover. The tour was excellent. Danielle was fantastic. They gave us a walkthrough. We went into the main area, and another couple of residents were there, and then there was the dining room, which was very nice. I noticed it had fresh fruit available throughout the day. They took us to different floors and to the theater. They have a patio, too. I saw a two-bedroom and a one-bedroom. It was pretty thorough. It was clean. It's not as new as the other place, but it is still very nice."

"I went and visited the Commonwealth Senior Living at the West End. The coordinator was very outgoing, friendly, and knowledgeable about the facility and the residents. The staff was friendly. The place was nice and clean. They had nice-sized rooms, but the only one they had available was a companion room, which would not work out."

"I toured Sancerre Atlee Station. The experience of working with them was fine. The apartment was spacious, and for the family, that really meant a lot. The staff who gave the tour was very knowledgeable, friendly, courteous, and certainly informative. He gave us a tour of the facility itself. I don't know the full scope of the activities, but they try to match the residents with interests on what they have. They also had different plans of rooms to offer. They seem to be more suitable for the needs of the family. The other thing about them is that they're only about 10 minutes from where I live, so it certainly helps."

"I went to Heritage Green of Hanover. My experience was fine, the lady was very nice, she took us all over the facility, she was very accommodating, and she continues to contact me periodically with special programs that they have going on, but it's way out of the price range that my father could afford. The facility is nice, it looks like they take good care of the people, and I was impressed with it. The rooms were more like studios, they're really small, and most have two people in them. The day I was there, they had a singer in, and they were all out in their common area listening to a singer. I did see the dining area, and a common area room that they have."

"We visited Elizabeth House, and we liked it. The room was a good size. It was nice and clean. We couldn't look around too much because they wouldn't let us go where the other people were because of COVID. We could only look at the one room."

"I went to Spring Arbor of Salisbury. It was clean, and it was very nice. It's a little bit older than the other place we visited, but it's not dated. The dining room seemed to be nice. It was just priced a little higher. The staff was very friendly. There were lots of things for them to do. The staff was very pleasant. They gave us a muffin to go and it was very good."

"After visiting multiple assisted living communities in the greater Richmond area, my sweet 92-year old mother chose Sunrise Villa Tuckahoe. The cozy one bedroom plus den, 1.5 bathroom bright and sunny apartment is the perfect size for my mom. The bedroom easily accommodates a double bed and two nightstands, a large triple dresser and a few lovely accessories. The ample closet and storage space includes a 6 foot reach-in and a large walk-in closet in the bedroom, a 6 foot reach-in closet in the den, and a large utility closet in the front entry way. In addition, there is a laundry closet that accommodates an "all in one" washer/dryer with 9 inches of space remaining for a laundry supply cart. Each floor has two "floor captains" responsible for officially welcoming new residents and representing resident interests at resident council meetings. My mother's two floor captains welcomed her with a lovely plant and provided their contact information. Both welcomed her to sit with them at meals. The friendly and responsive staff have welcomed and oriented my mother to her new surroundings. Her questions have been quickly answered and her requests for assistance honored. The residents enjoy a variety of programs led by an activities director. In addition, meal times are lovely social times that foster friendships among the residents. We are pleased with my mother's choice and highly recommend this assisted living community."

"We visited Brookdale Midlothian, and it was very nice and clean. They had a bus service, a community room, but everybody was out when we went there. The people that worked there seemed very nice. They have bus services and field trips."

She was patient and kind considering the circumstances. The rooms were small, but the amenities seemed fine. I really like their park-like setting in the back. I would give them a favorable recommendation but I didn't really thoroughly check it out. It looked good to me from the first sight."
