"We like Verena at the Glen, especially the two-bedroom, two-bath, and very updated kitchen. If we went that route, this is where we would have gone. The staff that did the tour with us was superior. We saw like five people playing bridge, and then we saw another older gentleman doing a puzzle. The staff was very gracious and very good. I met the woman who runs her show at the Glen. She came over and chatted with us. She was delightful, too. We had a very good impression of the place. The one drawback is that it's about 25 minutes from where my son and daughter live. It's important to us that it's close by. There were probably three or four maintenance-type people that were very courteous and very busy. The place was spotless. They have two meals a day. It's breakfast and lunch, but lunch is similar to dinner. It was explained to us that a lot of residents have a light lunch, then pack up whatever's left, and they have that for dinner. That would work for us. The apartment was outstanding and very comfortable. It was a model, but it wasn't overcrowded with furniture or anything like that. I think it had a fireplace. The bathrooms were spotless. It was a two-bedroom and two-bath. It's the best I've seen in any apartment I've ever looked at."

"My husband chose to move at Dominion Place Association because he liked that area of town. It was his first choice of places to move in. The apartments were small but it was well-insulated that you did not hear the neighbor's loud music. They had planned activities from time to time like dinner where everybody was invited. They also had social workers or people who helped the residents with different things like working on the computer. They also helped in choosing a cellphone or anything that they wanted to do. He had his own private place and he cooked his own food. "

"My husband and I have been living at Norcroft Apartments. I love the place very well because the rooms are nice and spacious. The bathroom is a big enough for my husband and I. The staff is wonderful. They have quite a few programs. They take us out to grocery stores and to where I get my hair done. They have exercise and also have certain days for seniors like music day. I like that because I don't get a chance to get out much. They have transportation, so I like that a lot. The food and the dining room are wonderful. The food is good. I'm diabetic, and they make sure I have the right meal. It is wonderful. The facility is really good. My husband and I really don't have anything to worry about. You can see the security walking around, and the doors are lock automatically. "

"I went to Hermitage Richmond, but it was not for my brother. It was a very fine facility, but the people there were very frail, and he's very physically fit. It was extremely well-maintained and beautiful. The people seemed happy. They were old and frail, but they were walking. Half of them were walking with walkers and the ones who were in wheelchairs were well-dressed. They were looking forward to dinner and they looked like they were going out to a banquet. They were happy and they seemed to have everything the people needed. It looked as though everybody's needs were accommodated. In particular, one lady just loves ironing, and I saw her ironing her sheets and clothes and she was happy with it. They take care of everybody's linen and personal clothing because they have a laundry room, but they seem to accom,odate people, whatever their needs might be. It was an extraordinary place for a large number of people with a variety of needs. It was very expensive, but it has high-end clientele. It's definitely for people who have the means. It's expensive for the average person, but they do offer quality services. I didn't eat there, but I could smell the tasty food, and it smelled really good. Everybody was happy."

"My friend is going to be here. It's a really nice place. I was so impressed with them. Dawna was amazing, she was so helpful, she gave me the best tour, and she was really assuring that my friend was going to be OK. The area was so beautiful. It's right next to a place called the Botanical Gardens, so the grounds were beautiful. It was really clean and neat inside. The apartments were adorable. The staff seemed wonderful. Any resident whom I spoke with loves it there. No one had anything negative to say about even one person. Where my friend is going to be, she can actually cook for herself if she wants to. A woman came out and was asking Dawna some questions about a new system with their dining. It's going to be like in college where you have a card and you swipe it for your meals. I didn't see the meals, but I didn't hear anything negative about the food. There are a lot of activities. On every floor, there's a common room, and when I walked past it yesterday, there were a bunch of residents out there, and they were all just talking. There was a TV in there if they wanted to sit out there and watch TV with their friends. There are also a bunch of little tables where they can play cards or whatever they want to do, just talk, or have a little coffee klatch. I didn't see the dining hall itself. The residents didn't seem bored. A few of them were just walking outside because it's so beautiful here right now in Richmond. It's a really nice area where this building is. They also have shopping trips a few times a week. If they're going to the grocery store and you want to go, they'll bring you. They have transportation, which is great. I don't really know about recreational outings, like for pleasure. They were also under construction, so they're redoing all the floors and everything right now. My friend is going to be in a room like one of the model rooms that I saw, and it was beautiful. There's a lot of closet space, and it was perfect for her. I was shocked when I went there and saw how nice it was, because this is the only one in my friend's budget."

"My mom moved into The Towers last August. The staff was is kind, very helpful, really friendly, and so far, she's very pleased. The grounds are very clean, and very well taken care of. It's convenient for relatives who visit her. She's in a 1-bedroom apartment, completely renovated, and beautiful. She has a totally redone walk-in shower, and it's very roomy. They clean once a week and everything is very nice."

"Our tour at Westminster Canterbury was great. It's just too big and too expensive for what we wanted. The rooms were very adequate size-wise. They had studios, 1- and 2-bedrooms, cottages, and all kinds of housing. It's a huge place with a lot of people so the amenities are great and everything is in a larger and better scale to cater to more people."

"I am a resident of Forest Creek. It's nice and quiet. When something happens or something goes wrong with your apartment, they come out and fix it, and don't take them two or three or four days - they come right out and take care of it. I love it. I have a living room, a two-bedroom, a kitchen, a dining room, and a little front porch. They have a clubhouse here. They keep the outside, cut the grass, and everything. So, they keep it up on the outside, and anything going on the inside. They come in and fix it. They have a club, and they have different things on Sunday. They have a preacher to come and preach. They serve dinner to the tenants. They have po-ke-no, bingo, and a lot of games and stuff that you can participate in."

"In the times I have visited my grandmother at The Masonic Home, I have left with the impression that the facility is a nice enough place for her to be living for the rest of her life. The staff there are very friendly and seem to really like my grandmother, but since she has Alzheimer's, she doesn't always remember them until they remind her several times of their past experiences with her. She's always very friendly to them though, and she seems to enjoy the activities that they put on there. Sometimes she does seem a little bored, but I think it's because she sometimes has a negative attitude and doesn't want to participate in the activities there. As far as the facility itself, the rooms seem very nice and the common areas always look clean and well-maintained. In particular, the grounds of The Masonic Home are beautiful and well-groomed, and it gives the entire place a very nice feel. "

"Once I came and took a tour of The Compass at Springdale Park, I was impressed with the leasing agent. Once he took me through the building, I was very impressed with the amenities, the size of the units, and the convenience of the area, like the stores, shopping centers, gas stations, and fast-food places. It was close to where I was living previously. I'm in a one-bedroom unit that has a good-sized cooking area, a microwave, a dishwasher, and a full-sized refrigerator. The washers and dryers are actually in the apartment itself. The bedroom is a decent size, but I am very impressed with the large bathroom and the walk-in closet that's right off of it. The unit comes with internet access. They have daily activities. You would get an email every morning by 9:30 explaining things going on in the community. They have all kinds of activities like bingo, informational sessions about Medicare, and yoga classes. It's a very active environment. I also like the security measures. Once the leasing office closes, you need a key fob to access the building, and that was impressive to me."

"My Father lived at Summerhill for a little over eight years before he passed. He enjoyed gardening, playing bridge, and having his own unit that he bought. Summerhill has transportation for residents to go shopping, to a doctor's appointment, to church, and to special planned events. The staff at Summerhill is very pleasant, helpful, and there is round the clock security at the entrance and throughout the community. My father loved living there, and my brother and I were pleased with how he was able to maintain his lifestyle and enjoy new things. The unit he had was two bedroom and two full baths, a kitchen, dining area/living room, washer and dryer, and a lovely covered front porch. "

"I like the size of the apartment at Carriage Hill and I also like the amenities that they offer. It's close to one my friends and that is one plus. The place is very nice and the staff seemed available if there is anything wrong and if something has to be corrected. They have a bus that takes you to various places for shopping and that is also a big plus because I don’t have a car. The staff is very helpful. They did have a community center where you can use computer. They have a pool table, exercise room, and they have books if you want to borrow. They also have nice walking areas between buildings. This building has two floors but I am one the first floor so it's much easier for me. "
